1 Notes of PID7901
The purpose of this document serves mainly as a quick guide for the users to know
how to use the device directly. This document is only for reference; please see the real
product for detailed information. The following safety precautions will increase your
PID7901 lifetime.
1.1 Safety Precautions
zDisconnect the AC power before cleaning. Wipe the PID7901 using a clean
cellulose sponge or chamois cloth dampened with a solution of nonabrasive
detergent and a few drops of warm water and remove any extra moisture with
a dry cloth.
zDO NOT leave the PID7901 on your lap or any part of the body to prevent
discomfort or injury from heat exposure.
zDO NOT press or touch the display panel. Do not place together with small
items that may scratch or enter the PID7901.
zDO NOT expose to strong magnetic or electrical fields.
zDO NOT expose to or use near liquids, rain, or moisture.
zDO NOT carry or cover a PID7901 that is powered on with any materials that
will reduce air circulation such as a carrying bag.
zSAFE TEMP: This PID7901 should only be used in environments with
ambient temperatures between 5°C and 40°C.
zINPUT RATING: Refer to the rating label on the rear side of the PID7901 and
be sure that your power adapter complies with the rating.
1.2 Transportation Precautions
To prepare the PID7901 for transport, you should turn it OFF and disconnect all
external peripherals to prevent damage to the connectors. The surface of
PID7901 easily gets dirty if not properly cared for. Be careful not to rub or scrape
surfaces when transporting your PID7901. You can purchase an optional carrying
case for protection from dirt, water, shock, and scratches.

1.3 Battery Recharging
If you intend to use battery power, be sure to fully charge your battery pack before
going on long trips. Remember that the battery pack is recharged once it is
plugged into an AC power source. Be aware that it takes longer to charge the
battery pack when the PID7901 is in use.
1.4 Airplane Precautions
Contact your airline if you want to use the PID7901 on the airplane. Most airlines
have restrictions for using electronic devices. And allow it only on the way, not at
take-off or landings.

3 Quick Start
3.1 Boot and Shutdown
A. Boot
zPress the [Power Button], wait 3 seconds to see the lock boot screen
zThen press the [Back Button] to unlock the screen
B. Shutdown
zLong press the [Power Button], will pop up the shutdown window
zWindows have four options: Silent Mode / Airplane Mode / Hibernate /
Power off
zClick [Power off]
zClick [OK] to shut down
3.2 Power-Saving Mode
Power-Saving mode saves battery power by putting PID7901 into a low
power state. It also locks the screen.
zThe screen will automatically goes into Power-Saving mode when it’s idle for
a while.
zPress the [Back Button] to unlock.

3.3 To Use the Touch Screen
There are several ways to browse the home screen, menu and application in
you PID7901.
A. Click
When you want to use the keyboard to type, select application or press
on-screen buttons, just click the icon by your finger.
B. Press and hold
When you press the blank area in the Home Screen and it will show many
applications and functions. You can add them to Home screen.
C. Drag
Press and hold your finger with some pressure before you start to drag. While
dragging, don’t release your finger until you have reached the target position.

3.4 Home Screen
You can place application icons on Home Screen to open it quickly. You can
also add shortcuts and customize your Home Screen.

Applications List
A. Extended Home Screen
Home Screen is extendable beyond the width of the screen to provide more
space for adding icons, new shortcut and widgets. Slide your finger leftward or
rightward, you can get more pages.
B. Customize your Home Screen
Add widgets to Home Screen
zFrom the Home Screen, click [Menu].
zThen click [Add], select the item to add to the Home Screen.
zWhen you click [Widgets] and then click [Search], you can use this
function to search any file in your PID7901 or a webpage.

Tip1: To make an application in Applications List added to the Home
Screen, long press it until it gets enlarged and it will be put on
Home Screen.
Tip2: In the Home Screen, long press a blank area, pop-up a window,
choose what you want to add to home screen, such as: music,
photo frame, clock, search, etc..
C. Remove Icon from Home Screen
zTap and hold the icon until the icon is enlarged up.
zHold continuously and drag the icon into theApplications list and then
release your finger.
D. Change desktop Wallpaper
zFrom the Home Screen, press [Menu], and then tap wallpaper.
zSelect image from pictures or wallpaper gallery to set.
3.5 Enter text
Use the virtual keyboard
When you start a program or select a field that requires text or numbers entering,
the virtual keyboard will appear automatically.
Input Method
zIn the text input interface, press and hold the text edit box area, until the
pop-up menu to edit text. And tap input method.
zSelect the input you need.
Tip: For German input, please long press a, o, u, s to type ä, ö, ü, ß.

3.6 Access Application
How to access the PID7901 application:
zPlease click on screen to enter Applications List as shown below.
zChoose the application to access.
zWhen you want to exit current page, press [Back Button] to previous page or
press [Home] directly back to the Home Screen.
Tip: In any program interface, you can long press [Home], the
screen will pop-up a window, which lists the most recently used
applications.
3.7 USB connection
The USB data cable is used to connect external mouse, keyboard, or RJ45
convertor (optional) with 5 pin USB port on the PID7901.
4 Wi-Fi Setting
zIn the Home Screen, click [Menu].
zClick [Settings].
zThen Click [Wireless controls].
zClick [Wi-Fi] to turn it on.
zClick [Wi-Fi Settings], PID7901 will automatically scan for available wireless
networks.
zTap the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to. If you select a network that is
secured with WEP, please enter the key.

5 Communication
5.1 E-mail Setting
Note: Please make sure your network connection is active and time is correct
before start the Mailbox Setup.
A. Mailbox Setup
zClick to show application list.
zClick [Email] Icon; E-mail setup wizard will appear to help you set it up.
zClick [Next].
zEnter the e-mail address and password.
zClick [Next], select your mailbox type is POP3 or IMAP.
zThen click [Next], to check e-mail account server is available.
zEnter account name and e-mail, then click done.

B. Delete Mailbox
zClick [Email] to enter you Mailbox.
zPress [Menu] and select [Accounts].
zPress and hold the mailbox account you want to delete until the pop-up
menu appears.
zSelect [Remove account] and then click [OK] to confirm to delete.
CAUTION: All e-mails and messages in the mailbox will be completely
removed after you delete the mailbox.
C. Receive and Send E-mails
Receiving e-mails
zClick [Email] to enter your Mailbox.
zEnter [Inbox], the message will automatically refresh. Click the e-mail
you’ve received to read.
Send e-mails
zPress [Menu] in mailbox.
zClick [Compose] to create a new e-mail.
zIn the receiver column, input the recipient's email address.
zEnter a subject and message contents.
zTo add attachments, press [Menu], then click [Add attachment].
zSelect the file you want to attach (such as pictures, videos, etc.).
zClick [Send] to send the e-mail.
Note: If you have more than one account and hope to send e-mail from
specific one, choose the account in advance before sending e-mail.
D. Setup Mailbox Manually
If the setup wizard is not able to connect automatically, you may tap the
[Manual setup] to setup mailbox manually.
Select the mailbox type (POP3 or IMAP) and manually enter all the account
details.

6 Multimedia
6.1 My Music
Note: Audio format supports MP3/WAV.
Access and play music
zClick [My Music] icon.
zSelect the storage device.
zChoose the song you want to play.
zThe music player has four functions: Playlist, Repeating all songs, Shuffle
and Repeating current song.
6.2 My Video
Note: Video format supports MP4/3gp/FLV. (FLV files need to be played in
YouTube application)
Access and play video files
zClick [My Video] icon.
zSelect the storage device.
zChoose the file you want to play.
6.3 Gallery Application
Note: Photo format supports PNG/JPEG/BMP/GIF (static).
Gallery application can automatically search for all photos and video files stored
in all storages. Gallery application will be in the form of folders to categorize the
photos and video files. You can use the gallery application to view, edit photos,
set photo as a desktop and watch the videos.
A. View Image
zClick the folder you want to check, view the contained pictures.

zClick the picture you want to view; the system will display the picture
automatically in full screen mode.
zTouch the screen, some further options will appear for operating.
B. Edit and Set the Pictures
Slideshow
zEnter the folder you would like to display the photos.
zPress [Menu] for menu options.
zClick [Slideshow]. All pictures in the folder will be displayed as slideshow.
Edit the picture
zPress and hold on the photo you want to edit until pop-up menu appear.
zYou can select View / Rotate / Delete / Crop / Set as / Details / Show on
Maps / Slideshow in the menu options to edit the photos.
7 Internet Browsing
7.1 Browser
A. Setting your Home Page
zClick [Browser].
zPress [Menu] and click [More].
zClick [Settings].
zClick [Set Home Page].
zEnter the URL; click [OK] to save.

B. Visit a web site
zPress [Menu] and click [Go].
zEnter the web site address you would like to visit and click [Go] on virtual
keyboard.
C. View the web page
Slide your finger on the screen to view other parts of the page.
D. Zoom in/out on a web page
While dragging on the page, the zoom control button will appear on the browser.
You may select to zoom in or zoom out the web page.
E. Search key word on a web page
zPress [Menu] and click [more].
zClick [Find on page].
zEnter the key word your want to search.
zThe entered key word will be highlighted in green on the page.
zClick [Left] or [Right] arrows in front of search bar to go to the previous or
next matched key word.
F. Manage bookmarks
Setting a bookmark
zOn the web site you would like to set a bookmark.
zPress [Menu] and select [Bookmarks], then click [Add bookmark...].
zEdit bookmarks detail and click [OK] to save.
Open a bookmark
zIn the browser, press [Menu] and select [Bookmarks].
zClick the bookmark that you want to open.
Delete a bookmark
zIn the browser, press [Menu] and select [Bookmarks].
zPress and hold the bookmark that you want to delete until pop-up menu
appears.

zSelect [Delete bookmark] and [OK] to confirm to delete.
G. Use the Browser
Open a new browser window
zPress [Menu] in the browser.
zClick the [New window] to open a new browser window.
Switch browser window
zPress [Menu] and select [Windows].
zClick the window you want to switch to.
Setting your browser
Customize the browser for your personal preference.
zPress the [Menu Button] and select [More].
zThen click [Settings] to set the browser options.
8 Other Applications
8.1 Alarm Clock
zClick to show application list.
zClick the [Alarm Clock].
zSet the alarm.
zPress [Menu] for more setting options.
8.2 Calendar
zClick to show application list.
zClick the [Calendar].
zPress and hold on a date to bring out pop-up menu.
zPress [Menu] for more setting options.
8.3 File Browser
A. Browse Files
Click to show application list and select [File Browser]. You can manage,
edit, and delete files or folders in File Browser.
B. Copy or Cut Files
zIn the file browser, press and hold on the file you want to edit.
zPop-up menu appears which includes Copy / Cut / Paste / Rename / Delete

/ New Folder / Properties.
zClick [Cut] or [Copy].
zEnter the folder where you want to paste the file, long press the blank area.
zSelect [Paste] in pop-up menu to proceed.
C. Delete files
zIn the file browser, long press the file you want to delete.
zSelect [Delete] in pop-up menu.
zClick [OK] to delete the file.
D. To create a new folder
zChoose the destination you want to create the new folder.
zPress [Menu] and select [New Folder].
zType the new folder name.
zClick [OK] to set up the new folder.
8.4 Voice Recorder
zClick to show application list, then click [Voice Recorder].
zClick [Record] to start recording.
Note: Inserting a MicroSD card is required for recording.
9 Basic Settings
9.1 Sound and Display
In the Home Screen, press [Menu] and select [Settings] to enter setup options.
A. Media Volume Setting
zIn the Home Screen, press [Menu] and select [Settings].
zSelect [Sound & Display].

zClick [Media Volume] to control the volume of music and video.
B. Notification Ringtone Setting
zIn the Home Screen, press [Menu] and select [Settings].
zClick [Sound & Display].
zClick [Notification ringtone].
zSelect a ringtone you prefer in pop-up menu.
zClick [Notification volume] to adjust the volume for ringtone.
C. Screen Button Sound
Play sound when making screen selection.
zIn the Home Screen, press [Menu] and select [Settings].
zClick [Sound & Display].
zClick [Audible selection] to enable the function.
D. Adjust Screen Brightness
zIn the Home Screen, press [Menu] and select [Settings].
zClick [Sound & Display].
zScroll down the screen, click [Brightness].
zAdjust brightness in pop-up menu.
zClick [OK] to confirm.
E. Adjust the Screen Timeout
zIn the Home Screen, press [Menu] and select [Settings].
zClick [Sound & Display].
zScroll down the screen, click [Screen timeout].
zSelect your desired standby time in pop-up menu.
9.2 Security and Location
Set the unlock Pattern
You can set your own unlock pattern (equivalent to the password) to protect the
privacy of your PID7901.
zIn the Home Screen, press [Menu] and select [Settings].
zClick the [Security & location].
zClick [Set unlock pattern].
zUnlock pattern has 25 dots. Vertically, horizontally or diagonally connect at
least 4 dots by your own. Remove your finger away from the screen once
completed. System will record your pattern.
zClick [Continue], draw your pattern again to confirm.
zClick [Confirm].

9.3 MicroSD card and Storage
A. Check MicroSD Card and device storage available space
zIn the Home Screen, press [Menu] and select [Settings].
zChoose [SD card, U-disk & device storage].
zCheck the available space for all storages.
B. Remove MicroSD card safely
Remove MicroSD card safely can protect the card and extend life time.
zIn the Home Screen, press [Menu] and select [Settings].
zChoose [SD card, U-disk & device storage].
zClick [Unmount SD Card].
zRemove MicroSD card.
C. Restore factory default settings
When the device appears significant error or you forget the unlock pattern, you
may restore the factory default settings back to factory state. Please be aware
that this will permanently erase all your data and customized settings, also will
remove all applications you have downloaded and installed. Be sure to back up
the data and files before operation.
zIn the Home Screen, press [Menu] and select [Settings].
