Safety Instructions - Please note: These instructions are intended as Guidance only. Tools
and Equipment must be used in accordance with manufacturers operating guidelines and all
applicable legal requirements.
1. The Kango KS26 Super Saw is used for cutting common brick, sandstone, limestone, block
walls and wall board, it should not however be used for engineering bricks, concrete or
hand stone.
2. Serious damage or injury can easily be caused by the Saw since the blade rotates at high
speed.
3. Impact resistant Goggles, Gloves, Ear protection for noise levels up to 95dB and a dust
mask should be worn during operation, as should reinforced safety.
4. Electricity used in the operation of this piece of equipment is hazardous and should be
regarded with care. Please read all the guidance on 110/230v below.
5. The saw should only be used by a responsible, able bodied adult and not by a minor or
anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
6. Please take a few moments to familiarise yourself with this piece of equipment.
Checking the Kango Super Saw before starting it up
1. Check every part of the Saw and familiarise yourself with the controls, ensuring that you
know how to turn it off. If there is any damage, please contact us immediately on 01375
392333.
You and Your Working Area
1. Do not use this equipment in a confined space without adequate ventilation as toxic fumes
or gas could ignite from the sparks and cause severe injury or death.
2. Do not use this equipment to cut Asbestos Containing Materials.
3. Place barriers around your working area to protect others from the noise, dust and any
flying debris.
4. If the object you are to work on is not securely fixed and could move whilst you are working,
ensure it is clamped or held in place by a vice or similar. Larger structures should be
checked for structural integrity. If you have any doubt, please call us on 01375 392333 and
we will be able to provide you with support props.
5. Due to the dust created, ensure hard to clean items or areas to be protected are covered
with a dust proof fabric.
6. Depending upon what you are going to work on, check there are no fuel pipes, water pipes,
electric cables or gas pipes before you begin.
7. Ensure no loose clothing can be caught in the saw.
Electricity Awareness –110v Saws –Yellow Plug
1. Your Saw will either operate on 110v, and therefore have a yellow industrial plug fitted OR
on 230v in which case it will have either a normal square 3 pin plug fitted or a blue industrial
plug fitted. Decide which voltage your machine works off.
2. If you have a 110v machine with a yellow plug and are using a portable transformer:

a. Plug the transformer directly into the 230v socket.
b. Do not use a 230v extension lead.
c. If you do need to use an extension lead, use a suitably rated heavy duty 110v cable,
no longer than 50 metres (160 feet) but only use this between the transformer and
the machine.
d. If we have provided special instructions regarding extension cables, please follow
these.
e. If you are unsure what to use, please ring us on 01375 392333.
Electricity Awareness –230v Grinder –Square pin or Blue Plug
3. Your Saw will either operate on 110v, and therefore have a yellow industrial plug fitted OR
on 230v in which case it will have either a normal square 3 pin plug fitted or a blue industrial
plug fitted. Decide which voltage your machine works off.
4. If you have a 230v machine with a normal square 3 pin plug fitted or a blue industrial plug
fitted:
a. Use an RCD (Residual Current Device) to protect you against an electric shock
should the machine or cable be damaged, & plug it into the 230v socket. Press the
‘test’ button to ensure it is operating correctly and follow any instructions necessary.
b. If you do need to use an extension lead, use a suitably rated heavy duty cable, no
longer than 50 metres (160 feet) and plug it into the RCD.
c. If we have provided special instructions regarding extension cables, please follow
these.
d. If you are unsure what to use, please ring us on 01375 392333.
Blades
1. Ensure that the machine you are using is switched off before fitting or changing a blade.
2. Check the blade is correct for the machine and the material you wish to cut, and that it is
sharp and undamaged with no cracks.
3. Contact John F Hunt Hire centres on 01375 392333 should you need replacement blades,
do not try to sharpen them yourself.
4. To replace blades: remove the four bolts holding the blade in place with the Allen key
provided, fit the new pair of blades with the flat surfaces together.
5. Tighten the bolts with the Allen key, but do not over tighten.
Starting and Operating the Saw
1. Having already looked for damage and familiarised yourself with the saw and it’s on/off
switch, check that the plug on your machine matches your electrical supply as outlined
above.
2. Mark out your work area with guide lines for you to cut along.
3. Unroll cables and extension leads and lay them out straight avoiding any liquids.
4. Check that the cables will not get trapped anywhere or cause a problem with vehicles or
pedestrians.
5. Do not run the saw without the blades fitted. Check the guard is in place.
6. The optimum position for operating the saw is between your chest and waist. If you need to
use it at a higher position, organise a work platform before commencing operation.
7. Start the machine using the on/off switch and hold the saw with both hands.
8. The on/off switch and interlock will enable both intermittent and continuous use of the saw.
9. For Intermittent use (locking button off):
a) Press the locking button
b) Press the on/off control
c) Release the locking button, keeping the on/off control squeezed.

d) To switch off, release the on/off control & the saw will stop.
10.For Continuous Use (locking button on):
e) Press the locking button
f) Press the on/off control
g) Release the on/off control first, keeping the locking button pressed, but release the
pressure and the saw will continue to run.
h) To switch off, press and release the on/off control and the saw will stop.
11.Run the saw briefly to check everything is working properly, without excessive vibration.
12.If you have any reason to think something is not correct, switch the machine off and unplug
it before making any adjustments.
13.Keep the cable away from the rotating blade.
14.Push the machine to meet your work surface and guide line and wait for it to bite into it.
15.Keep a firm and steady pressure, allowing the machine to work to its optimum capacity
without labouring due to too much force.
16.Guide the saw along the line, moving it backwards and forwards in a rocking motion to
deepen the cut and help clear the dust.
17.Remove loose material & debris at regular intervals i.e. every three courses of brick work.
18.Be aware that the vibration may be hazardous to your health. Make sure you wear gloves. If
your fingers begin to tingle or feel numb, stop using the machine for a while and shake your
hands to get the blood circulation back and keep them warm.
19.Ensure ventilation slots do not become blocked.
20.If you need to leave the saw unattended, switch it off and unplug it.
After Use
1. When your work is finished, lift the blades away from the work area before switching off.
2. Let the blade stop rotating completely before putting the saw down.
3. Do not try to stop the saw with your hands or by holding it against another surface.
Precautions
1. Do not use the saw to cut materials containing asbestos.
Troubleshooting
1. If the saw do not work properly, please contact us immediately on 01375 392333. Do not try
to repair anything yourself.
2. If the blades become jammed due to blockage from the material you are cutting, don’t force
the saw, simply switch it off, unplug it and remove the debris, lifting the machine clear. Plug
back in and re start the saw.
