Activate Google Play on your KOMANDOTAB™ Tablet
Congratulations on your purchase of the KOMANDOTAB™ from Kim Komando. I know
you’re going to love using it as much as I loved putting it together for you.
Before you get started, however, you’ll want to turn on the ofcial Google Play Store app.
This gives you access to the Play Store, which has more than 1 million apps, plus movies,
music and books. It also keeps your installed apps updated with the latest versions.
Don’t worry; enabling the Play Store app isn’t hard. Just follow these simple directions.
Note: You will need to have your tablet charged and know the basics of how to use it
before following these instructions. If you haven’t read the Quick Start guide booklet
included with the KOMANDOTAB™, please do that rst.
Instructions:
1. Press the power button to wake up your KOMANDOTAB™.
2. On the lock screen, tap the lock icon and drag it to the edge of the circle that appears.
3. On the Home screen, tap the app list icon at the bottom of the screen - it’s the circle
with six squares in it. [See Fig 1]
Note: The app list icon is at the bottom of the screen in portrait mode. If you tilt the tablet
90 degrees into landscape mode, the app icon will appear on the right.
4. In the app list, tap the Settings icon. It looks like a gear. [See Fig 2.1]
Warning: Don’t confuse it with the Google Settings icon that also looks like a gear. [See Fig 2.2]
5. In Settings, under the “Device” subheading, nd and tap the “Apps” icon. The App page
will load and show you all the downloaded apps on the KOMANDOTAB™. Since your
tablet is brand new, it will say, “No apps.” [See Fig 3.1]
6. Swipe your nger from the right side of the screen four times to see the list of disabled
apps on the KOMANDOTAB™. The screen will say “Disabled” at the top. [See Fig 3.2]

7. Tap where it says “Google Play Store.” [See Fig 4.1]
8. Tap the “Enable” button. Congratulations, you’re almost done! [See Fig 4.2]
9. Tap the Home button - it looks like the outline of a house - at the bottom of the screen to
return to the Home screen. [See Fig 4.3]
10. Tap the app list icon at the bottom of the screen - it’s the circle with six squares in it.

11. Tap and hold the Play Store icon until it oats under your nger and the Home screen
appears underneath it. Move the icon to where you want it on the screen and remove
your nger. [See Fig 5.1]
Bonus tip: If you want to move it somewhere else on the screen, tap and hold it again until it
oats. Then move it where you want and release it. [See Fig 5.1]
12. Tap the Play Store icon to open Google Play Store. [See Fig 5.2]
Note: You will need to be connected to a wireless network to use the Google Play Store.
If you haven’t connected to your network yet, check your User Guide for instructions.
Further note: The rst time you open the app store, it will ask you for a Google account.
If you have an existing Google account, tap the “Existing” button [See Fig 6.1] and enter your email
and password [See Fig 6.2]. Otherwise, tap the “New” button and ll in the required information.
Warning: If you don’t add a Google Account to the Play Store app right away, it may disable
itself after a few hours. If you can’t nd the Play Store icon in the list of apps, or on the Home
screen, go through these steps again to re-enable it. [See Fig 6.3]
13. Browse the Google Play Store for apps, books, movies, music and more. If you want
app suggestions, head over to www.komando.com/apps for my best recommendations.
