1. Welcome
Welcome to KeyPoint Technologies® AdaptxtTM text entry solution for Android based tablets. This user
manual explains how to use Adaptxt on your Android tablet device. KPT also provides an online support
section on the website: www.adaptxt.com

3. What is Adaptxt?
Adaptxt is the next generation of text input software, providing text entry assistance on hard keyboard and
touch-screen devices. Adaptxt powered by Predictive Text2.0 engine provides accurate and relevant next
word prediction, error-correction & word completion inputs by combining the best of artificial intelligence
and computing technology.
As the user starts typing, the Adaptxt keyboard provides word suggestions in the Suggestion Bar and starts
learning and adapting to the user’s writing style, to provide personalized suggestions. Adaptxt provides two
types of add-on dictionaries:
Language dictionaries:
These dictionaries work simultaneously and provide multilingual suggestions to users who need to move
quickly between different languages during text input. Each dictionary comes with a language specific on-
screen keyboard.
Industry-specific dictionaries:
These dictionaries provide industry-specific terminology, acronyms, company names and web addresses.
They cater to different professional sectors such as Medicine, Business, Law, Finance, and IT & Telecom.
These dictionaries are also available in multiple languages.
The Language and Technical add-ons can be downloaded from Adaptxt’s Add-on manager, as explained in
the following sections.
4. Setting up Adaptxt
Adaptxt can be downloaded from the Google Play Store, GetJar or the Amazon Appstore and installed
directly to your device.
Once Adaptxt has been downloaded on your device, tap on the Adaptxt icon on the tablet menu
and the following screens would appear sequentially through the installation process (Images 1-10):

5. Dictionaries
5.1 Language and Technical Add-ons
The language and Technical add-ons can be downloaded during the installation process or later from
Adaptxt’s Add-on Manager. These add-ons are designed to work simultaneously and provide multilingual
suggestions to users who toggle between different languages while typing.
5.2 Changing Add-ons
Tap on the globe key once to display the pop-
up menu with the list of enabled add-ons and select
the add-on required.

1. Tap on Accept> Setup> Next
2. A notification will be displayed while the Add-On Manager screen is being loaded
3. Tap and load the required Language/ Technical add-on> Tap on the Back key>Next
4. Enable Adaptxt Tablet in Keyboards and input methods>Next
5. Press and select Adaptxt as your default keyboard
6. Tap on Finish and you would be directed to the setting screen along with a FAQ pop up window.

6. Using the Suggestion Bar
Adaptxt offers error corrections and relevant word predictions on the suggestion bar while typing. This
feature enables the user to type less and write more using the personalized suggestions.

As you type, the Suggestion Bar provides auto correction and next word predictions that are relevant to
the context you are typing.
Tap on the suggestions words to enter the text.
Tap on the arrow on the right of the suggestion bar to view more suggestions, the user can then
navigate from left to right or from right to left and select the appropriate word.
7. Deleting words
Press the Backspace key once to delete one character at a time.
Press and hold the Backspace Key to quickly delete one word at a time.
Long press on words on the suggestion bar to delete them from the dictionary.
Long press on the word “Deletionz” will provide the following options:

8. Navigation Keys
Navigation Keys: Tap on the keys to
navigate across the editor fields.

9. Voice Input
Press and release the Microphone Key to activate voice input and enter text through voice
recognition. Start speaking as soon as the “Speak now” message appears.
10. Adaptxt Quick Settings Screen
This key can be used to access frequently used features, Quick settings can be accessed in the following way:
Tap on the Quick settings key to get the pop-
up menu. It gives access to the following features:
1. Suggestion Control: to place the suggestion bar above the
keyboard or below the keyboard. It is ergonomically
designed for ‘heads-up’ and ‘heads down’ users.
2. Layouts: allows swapping between split keyboard and full
keyboard layout
3. Shortcuts ON/OFF: should be switched ON to display ATR
shortcuts.
4. Private Mode:with private mode on, Adaptxt dictionary
does not learn user typed words.
5. Remove Accents: single tap on this key removes all accents
or diacritics from the text entered.
6. Shortcut Options: to access ATR feature.
7. Keyboard Customization: provides various keyboard
customization options.
8. Themes: to select your preferred theme.
9. Settings: a shortcut key to all the Adaptxt settings as
described before.

10.1 Suggestion Control
You can choose between two different ergonomically designed suggestion bar positions:
Quick Settings key>Suggestion Control> Tap and select: Above the keyboard/below the keyboard.
Above the keyboard: For ‘heads-up’ users, suggestion
bar can be placed above the keyboard (Image 11).
Below the keyboard: For ‘heads down’ users,
suggestion bar can be placed below the keyboard
(Image 12).

10.2 Private Mode
Using the Private Mode feature, user can prevent Adaptxt from learning new words or context.
To access private mode: Tap once on Private Mode to enable it and tap twice to disable it. By default
Private mode is always switched OFF.
10.2.1 Enable Private Mode
Tap on Quick Settings>Private Mode to switch it ON. Press OK to enable Private Mode.
When ‘Private Mode’ is switched on, as an indication the suggestion bar will display a small icon at the top
left side as seen below.
10.2.2 Disable Private Mode
Tap on Quick Settings>Private Mode ON to switch it OFF. The Adaptxt learning engine will start learning
the entered words again.

10.3 Remove Accents
Tap on the Quick settings key to get the pop-up menu and tap on Remove Accents to use it.
Example:
1. Enter the accented text “Café”in the editor.
2. Tap on Quick Settings> Remove Accents. A pop
up screen will be displayed, press OK to convert
the text into base characters.
3. A notification will be displayed across the keyboard.
Finally, an accents / diacritics free text will be
rendered in the editor as “Cafe”.
10.4 Keyboard Customization
To access this feature: Tap on the Quick Settings key > Keyboard Customization.
Users can select the color of each keyboard element, swap keys, resize the keyboard elements and have
access to other valuable features. Keyboard Customization is offered as a premium feature that can be
purchased from the Add-On Manager. The following Keyboard Customization Features are available:
1. Key Shapes
2. Font Style
3. Background Picture
4. Keyboard Color
5. Font Color
6. Key Height
7. Suggestion Bar Height
8. Swap Keys
9. Font Size
1. Reset:
Press the reset button to revert back to the
default keyboard state.
Each feature needs to be reset individually.
2. Undo: Tap on the key to revert back to the
previous state.
3. Exit: Tap to exit the keyboard customization
feature.
4. Save:
Press the Save button to save key height, suggestion
bar height, and font size and swap key
customizations. These changes will be applied to all
available themes.
Use the Save as button to save the Key shape, font
style, background picture, keyboard color, and font
color changes as a new custom theme.

Scroll across and select a key shape from the list.

10.4.3 Background Picture
1. Tap on the Portrait Background/ Landscape
Background mode option.
2. Select an image from Gallery or tap on Camera to
take a picture.
5. Use the Transparency slider to adjust the
transparency of the background image.
3. Using the Android crop tool select the area that
needs to be displayed.
4. Select Save to apply the settings and position the
background image or Discard to exit the process.

Tap on the Keys/Suggestion bar/Background color
feature individually and drag your finger across the
swatch pallet to select the respective colors.
Tap on the Primary Font (Q,W,E,R,T,Y,..) /Secondary
Font (1,2,3,4,5,6,..) /Suggestions color feature
individually and drag your finger across the swatch
pallet to select the respective colors.
10.4.6 Swap Keys
Press and drag a key to a preferred destination to swap the keys, press Apply to save changes.

10.4.7 Font Size
Drag the Font Size slider from left (Min) to right
(Max) to increase font size and from right (Max)
to left (Min) to decrease the font size.
10.4.8 Key Height
Drag across the height slider from left (minimum) to right (maximum) to increase or decrease the key height
accordingly.
10.4.9 Suggestion Bar Height
Similarly, drag across the suggestion bar height slider from left (minimum) to right (maximum) to increase or
decrease the key height accordingly.

11. Accessing Adaptxt Settings
The Adaptxt Settings can be accessed in the following ways:
Tap on the Quick settings key> Settings.
Alternatively, you can access the Adaptxt Settings by tapping on the Adaptxt icon from your device
application menu.
12. Adaptxt Settings Screen
The following functions are available through the Adaptxt Settings Screen:
1. Personalize Suggestions:
a. Learn from:To learn from social networks, SMS and
phonebook to provide personalized suggestions.
b. Social Account Manager: To add and remove
Facebook and Twitter accounts.
2. My Dictionary: To view and manage all the words in your
personal dictionary.
3. Add-On Manager: To enable, disable, prioritize and
download the in-app Adaptxt add-ons.
4. Themes and Layouts: To select your preferred theme and
layout.
5. Keyboard Customization: Provides various premium
keyboard customization options.
6. Shake Settings: To enable or disable using shake function
to change layouts.
7. Auto Correction: To enable/disable Auto Correction and
set Auto Correction mode.
8. Extended Character Bubble:To display special characters
in a pop-up window.
9. Auto Capitalization: To automatically capitalize proper
nouns and words at the beginning of a sentence.
10. Sound and Vibrate: To set the desired feedback on key
press.
11. ATR (Automatic Text Replacement):To assign a certain
text or phrase as a shortcut.
12. Check for the Latest Version: To download the latest
version available.
13. Help and Support: To display the Adaptxt Tutorial and
access the FAQ section online.
14. Share: To share Adaptxt with others and also to rate
Adaptxt on the Play store.
12.1 Learn from
To access this feature: Tap on Adaptxt Settings > Personalize Suggestions > Learn from.
This feature allows Adaptxt to learn data from contacts, social networking accounts and messages to
provide personalized suggestions.
12.2 Social Account Manager
To access this feature: Tap on Adaptxt Settings > Personalize Suggestions > Social Account Manager.

The user can add/remove social accounts here.
Users can post messages to their preferred social
networks directly from the Adaptxt keyboard.
Press and hold the “Share” Key in order to
post the current message to social networks like
Facebook and Twitter.
12.3 My Dictionary
This screen allows you to view and manage all the
words from your personal dictionary as shown in the
picture (Image 13).
By default Adaptxt learns user typed words and
adds them to the personal dictionary (passwords are
not learnt).
Words are not learnt when Private Mode is turned
ON.

Main functions in My Dictionary:
Back up My Dictionary: select this if you want to back up all the new words saved so far in your personal
dictionary.
Restore: allows you to restore words that were saved previously.
Delete word: tap on the bin symbol adjacent to the word you want to remove from My Dictionary.
The word will be deleted and not offered as a suggestion anymore.
Delete all: tap on Delete All option on the screen, then, press ‘OK’ on the pop up window to confirm or
press ‘Cancel’ to discard the process.
Add: Tap on Add > Type the word that needs to be added >Press OK. Only unique words can be added to
the user dictionary.
Search: tap on the Search option on the screen, type and search for a word saved in My Dictionary.
12.4 Add-on Manager
To access this feature: Tap on Adaptxt Settings >Add-On Manager.
The Add-on Manger screen provides options to enable, disable, and download themes and add-ons.
It has four main tabs, which are further divided into various tabs as explained below:
1. Installed

2. Download
i. Language
ii. Technical
iii. Theme
3. Latest
4. Premium
Note: Technical Add-ons, themes and the premium features are available for a one-time charge; the user
can re-install a previously purchased add-on/theme without any recurring fee.

•To access this feature: Tap on Adaptxt Settings
>Add-On Manager>Installed
1.1 Enable/Disable
•In order to start using Adaptxt, at least one add-on
dictionary needs to be enabled.
•Once the add-ons are installed, tap on it to enable it
or disable it accordingly.
1.2 Priority
•Tap on the Priority tab.
•Drag and Drop the add-ons using the scroll handle
on the left in order to change dictionary priorities.
•Word suggestions and error corrections will first be
generated from the prioritized dictionary.
•To access this feature: Tap on Adaptxt Settings
>Add-On Manager>Download
2.1 Language
•It provides a list of all available language add-ons.
Use the Search field to search for an add-on.
•Tap on the language add-on to download it.
2.2 Technical
•The Technical add-on tab includes the list of all
industry-specific dictionaries available. These
add-ons need to be purchased.
•Tap on the add-on to download it.

•Tap on the installed theme to Uninstall or Disable it
accordingly.
•The user is then directed to the Playstore
payment page.
•The add-on is downloaded after the payment has
been completed.
2.3 Themes
•The Themes tab includes all special & event
based themes.
•Tap on a theme to view its description.
•Press the download icon, the user is then
directed to the Playstore payment page.
•The theme is installed after the payment process
is completed.

Latest
•To access this feature: Tap on Adaptxt Settings >Add-On Manager>Latest
•Displays list of latest languages that have been updated for download.
Unlocking Premium Features
To access this feature: Tap on Adaptxt Settings >Add-On Manager>Premium
Note: Premium features are available for a one-time charge; the user can re-install a previously purchased
feature without any recurring fee.
Adaptxt provides Premium keyboard customization features that can be accessed in the following process:
Tap on the lock icon to unlock the premium features.
The user is then directed to the Playstore payment page.
The premium features are unlocked after the payment is completed through the app store.
Finally, the unlocked confirmation icon is displayed and the user can access and utilize the premium
features.

App Store Payment Process
•First time users are required to
register their credit card details
on the app store to purchase
themes, technical add-ons and to
unlock the premium features.
•Press Continue to initiate
registration.
•Fill in the mandatory details
and press the Save button.
•The add-on/theme will be
downloaded or activated once
the payment is completed.
•Select & confirm the payment
details and press Accept & Buy
to complete the payment
process.
12.5 Themes and Layouts
12.5.1 Themes
•This setting is used to select your preferred theme;
Bright Theme is set as the default theme.
•Tap on the Themes option to select between the
provided themes.
12.5.2 Layouts
You can choose between two different keyboard layouts:
•Split Keyboard: Ergonomically designed split keyboard makes thumb typing very natural and comfortable.
It improves productivity to a great extent by making two hands typing very easy.
•It can also be accessed through Quick Settings Key >Layouts>Split Keyboard.
•Full Keyboard: Full keyboard is also available for the users
not comfortable with split keyboard layout and provides a
QWERTY keyboard layout.
•It can also be accessed through Quick Settings Key
>Layouts>Full Keyboard.
•Alternatively, the user can shake the device to switch
between Split Keyboard and Full Keyboard layouts.

12.6 Shake Settings
This setting is used to enable or disable the functionality of changing layouts by shaking the device.
The shake sensitivity can be increased or decreased for responsiveness.
12.7 Auto Correction and Revert Correction
12.7.1 Auto Correction
The auto correction feature provides suggestions that will automatically replace the mistyped word on
tapping the space key.
Auto Correction can be enabled or disabled from Adaptxt Settings menu.
12.7.2 Using Auto Correction
This type of suggestion is displayed in blue font color along with a blue cross symbol on the left hand
side of the word as shown in the picture below.
Tap on the blue cross to dismiss the auto-corrected word.
The auto-corrected word can be entered by tapping on the word or by simply pressing the Space key.
If the word you entered is not present in any of the installed Adaptxt dictionaries, it will be stored in the
personal dictionary and will be automatically displayed when you access My Dictionary.
12.7.3 Auto Correction Modes
This setting is used to define the strength of auto correction:
Auto Correction Mode is set to Medium by default.
The setting can also be changed by: tapping on the Quick Settings key>Settings> Auto Correction>Under
Auto Correction Mode, select mode as High, Medium or Low as required.
12.7.4 Revert Correction
This feature allows a user to revert back to the initially typed word instead of the suggested auto
correction word.
Navigate cursor/caret just after the auto corrected word and tap on the original word in the suggestion
bar to replace the auto corrected word.
