Introduction
Lincoln model FC1 25-gallon Fuel Caddy are
designed for safely transferring fuel to or from
gas tanks prior to or following repair or removal.
Both models utilize a reversible manual rotary
pump to draw fluid in or dispense fluid out
of the 25-gallon storage tank, depending on
the direction of rotation. Model FC1 includes
a 2-way filter system with automatic check
valve that filters the fuel through one filter as it
is drawn in and through a second filter as it is
dispensed out.
Fuel may also be poured into the caddy through
the filler tube. Simply remove the filler tube cap
and direct the pour into the tube. Watch the
sight level tube to prevent overfilling. Be sure
not to fill the tank above the screen at the base
of the filler tube.
Warnings and Precautions
This equipment is designed for servicing a
variety of vehicles in a safe and convenient
manner. However, due to the variation in
vehicle design between manufacturers, makes,
models and years, it may not be possible to use
this equipment as documented in the following
general guidelines. In addition to these guide-
lines, always follow the vehicle manufacturer’s
recommended procedures when attempting to
use this equipment.
Use common sense when operating this equip-
ment. If something does not seem or feel right,
stop immediately and consult a professional
with knowledge of the application. Don’t force
the use of this equipment on an application for
which it is not intended.
• Carefully read and understand these instruc-
tions prior to using this equipment
• Always wear safety glasses when using this
equipment
• Never operate this equipment on a vehicle
with the engine running
• Operate this equipment only in a well venti-
lated area, and away from potential sources
of flame or ignition
• Wear gloves and protective clothing to avoid
the contact of gasoline on skin. If contact
occurs, immediately wash the area and
perform necessary first aid.
• Always keep a fire extinguisher on hand when
performing fuel related service. Make sure the
extinguisher is rated for fuel, electrical and
chemical fires.
• Clean up fuel spills immediately after they
occur.
Care and Maintenance
The fuel caddy does not require any particular
maintenance other than normal cleaning. The
unit should be cleaned using a cloth dampened
with water, alcohol, or detergent recommended
for household electrical appliances.
Filters
Be sure the replacement filter has the appro-
priate fuel rating, nominal particulate removal
(micron), and flow rate. Use spin-on type filters
with 1"-12 UNF mounting thread (3/4" flow).
Filters should be replaced every 12 months or
when a decrease in flow occurs.

Assembly
Refer to the exploded view and chart on page 3 for assistance with
identifying parts and their location during assembly.
Wheels
1. Remove the nut (11) and lock washer (10) from the wheel shaft,
leaving the plain washer (9) on the shaft.
2. Insert the wheel shaft through the hole in the wheel brace weld-
ed to the tank.
3. Slide the lock washer (10) onto the wheel shaft and screw the
nut (11) onto the shaft thread.
4. Use a 7/8" open-end wrench between the wheel and the outside
of the wheel brace to hold the shaft, and tighten the nut with a
15/16" open-end or hex wrench.
5. Repeat this procedure for the second wheel.
Pump
1. Apply PTFE tape to the thread on the 6" (150mm) long pipe
extending from the top of the tank.
2. Install the pump (18) by threading the inlet (black bushing and
marked “IN”) onto the pipe.
3. Tighten the pump using a 1-3/4" open-end wrench on the flats
of the black bushing.
Note: Be sure to orient the pump during final tightening, so the
handle is easily accessible.
4. Slide the pump handle (19) onto the pump shaft. Rotate the
handle to align the locking nut with the indentation on the shaft.
Tighten the locking nut using a 14 mm open-end or hex wrench.
Filler Pipe
1. Thread the filler pipe (3) into the screened port on top of
the tank.
2. Install the cap (2) onto the top of the filler pipe.
Vent Cap
1. Thread the vent cap (1) into the open port (w/o screen) located
on top of the tank.
Handle, Ground Wires and Filter Housing
1. Insert the handle (4) into the brackets welded to the side of the
tank and align the holes in the handle with those in the bracket.
2. Slide the ground wire eyelet (15) and a plain washer (6) onto one
of the machine screws (7).

3. Position and support the filter housing assembly with the
mounting brackets located on the inside of the handle brackets
(see Fig. 1)
4. Align the hole through one mounting bracket with the hole
through the mating handle bracket and handle (see Fig. 2), and
insert the machine screw through the entire assembly.
5. Slide on a plain washer (6) and secure with a hex nut (5).
6. Perform the same operation on the opposite bracket, excluding
the ground wire.
7. Wrap the 3/4" NPT Swivel Elbow Fitting (21) with PTFE tape
and install it into the top of the pump (18). Tighten with 1-1/16"
wrench (see Fig. 3).
8. Wrap one end of the filter connection hose (22) with PTFE tape
and install it into one of the filter housing ports using a 1-1/16"
wrench (see Fig. 4).
9. Connect the other end of the hose to the swivel fitting using
1-1/16" and 1-1/4" wrenches (see Fig. 5).
10. Wrap the ¾" NPT thread on the end of the fluid transfer hose
(20) and install it into the opposite end of the filter housing using
a 1-1/16" wrench (see Fig. 6).
11. Lubricate the seal on one of the filters and install it to the filter
housing. Hand tighten (see Fig. 7).
12. Repeat with second filter.
Operation
Set-up
1. Park the vehicle, turn off the ignition, and set the parking brake.
2. Ensure the caddy is properly positioned on level ground within
required reach of the vehicle fuel tank.
3. Connect the ground wires extending from the pump and the
tank handle to a known ground on the vehicle being serviced.
Evacuating a Fuel Tank
1. Remove the cap from the car’s fuel tank filler neck and attempt
to feed the fluid transfer hose down the filler neck and into the
fuel tank
-or-
raise the vehicle, disconnect the filler neck from the tank, and
feed the hose directly into the tank

2. Rotate the handle rapidly in a counterclockwise direction to
prime the pump. Once primed, continue to rotate the pump
handle at a comfortable rate to draw fuel from the tank into the
caddy.
CAUTION: Pay attention to the sight level tube on the side of
the fuel caddy. Do not overflow the tank
3. When transfer is complete, stop rotating the pump and allow
excess fuel to drain from the hose.
4. Withdraw the hose from the tank and wrap it securely around
the handle of the fuel caddy.
5. Disconnect the ground wires from the vehicle and wrap them
securely around the fuel caddy handle.
6. Move the caddy to the next service job or proper storage area.
Dispensing fuel from the caddy
1. Remove the cap from the car’s fuel tank filler neck and insert the
fluid transfer hose securely into the neck opening.
2. Rotate the handle rapidly in a clockwise direction to prime the
pump. Once primed, continue to rotate the pump handle at a
comfortable rate to dispense fuel from the caddy into the tank.
CAUTION: Pay attention to level of fuel in the tank. Do not allow
it to overflow.
3. When transfer is complete, stop rotating the pump and allow
excess fuel to drain from the hose.
4. Withdraw the hose from the tank and wrap it securely around
the handle of the fuel caddy.
