The Motion Computing®DVD ± RW Optical Disc Drive (ODD)
enables you to play, record, and write CDs and DVDs and view
video DVD movies on your Motion®Tablet PC.
IMPORTANT: Full USB 2.0 performance of this drive cannot be achieved
on systems that meet the USB 1.1 standard, such as the Motion M1200.
The drive operates at slower speeds when connected to a system using
the USB 1.1 specification. This may affect DVD video playback.

Setting Up the Optical Disc Drive with an AC Power
Source (Wall Outlet)
WARNING: Do not push on the top of the drive or place heavy
objects on top of the drive. Continuous pressure or the weight
of heavy objects on top of the drive can interfere with drive
operation and can damage the drive.
To power your Optical Disc Drive (ODD) using the AC Power Adapter and
USB plug:
1. Plug the DC power connector into the DC power jack on the
drive, and then plug the AC Adapter into an AC wall outlet.
2. Plug the USB mini-B connector into the USB mini-B port on
the back of the drive.
3. Plug the USB Type A connector into a USB port on the Tablet
PC, Motion®FlexDock, or Motion MobileDock.
4. Microsoft®Windows®XP automatically recognizes the new
drive and installs the driver.

International AC Plug Adapters
CAUTION: Use only the AC adapter approved for this
device or the plug adapter appropriate for your locale
with the drive. Using a different AC adapter or
attempting to plug the wrong plug-adapter for your
locale into an AC power outlet may risk fire or
explosion.
1. Remove the plastic cover from the AC plug.
2. Insert the correct plug adapter for your locale into the exposed
slot.
3. Press firmly on the plug adapter until it is in place.

Using Power From the Tablet PC Battery
To power your Optical Disc Drive using power from the Tablet PC battery,
use the connection configuration for your system setup as shown below.
The status LED flashes once when power is applied.
NOTE: All of the configurations shown below can be used when the Tablet
PC is connected to an AC wall outlet or to a DC power source
(car/airplane).

Using the Optical Disc Drive Stand
NOTE: The Optical Disk Drive (ODD) can be used in a vertical or
horizontal position.
1. Align the four decorative lines on the front of the ODD with the
four grooves on the Stand.
2. Once the ODD and Stand are aligned, push the ODD down
into the bottom of the Stand until the ODD is secure.
NOTE: To prevent damage to the rubber feet located on the
bottom of the ODD, ensure that the ODD and the Stand are
aligned in the vertical position as shown in the illustration below.

Using the Optical Disc Drive
1. Once you have selected your method of powering the Optical
Disc Drive (ODD) and you have connected the ODD to your
Tablet PC, Microsoft®Windows®XP automatically recognizes
the new ODD and installs the driver. The status LED flashes
once when power is applied.
2. Press the eject button to open the drive tray. The status LED
flashes green when the drive is being accessed.
3. Insert the CD or DVD disc into the drive tray. Make sure the
disc is securely seated in the drive tray. The status LED
flashes during drive read and write activity.
4. Close the tray. If the CD does not run automatically, select
Start > Run, and browse to the CD drive.

Installing the Software
The Optical Disc Drive (ODD) requires software to view
DVD/MPEG2 movies or to write to a CD or DVD disc. While
Microsoft Windows XP includes CD-writing features and may be
sufficient for your needs, the CD-writing software provided with
the ODD contains advanced features beyond those offered by
Windows XP.
•To install the CD authoring software, insert the CD and follow
the instructions provided on the screen. When using alternative
CD-authoring software, confirm that the software and specific
version are compatible with the Optical Disc Drive.
•To install the DVD player software, insert the CD and follow the
instructions provided on the screen. When using alternative
DVD-authoring software, confirm that the software and specific
version are compatible with the Optical Disc Drive.

Configuration du lecteur de disques optiques
avec une source d’alimentation secteur (prise
murale)
AVERTISSEMENT : Ne pas appuyer ni placer d’objets lourds
sur le lecteur. Une pression continue ou le poids d’objets
lourds sur le lecteur peuvent en altérer le fonctionnement ou
l’endommager.
Pour alimenter votre lecteur de disque optique (ODD) à l’aide d’un
adaptateur secteur et d’une prise USB :
1. Brancher le connecteur d’alimentation c.c. dans la prise
d’alimentation c.c. du lecteur, puis brancher l’adaptateur
secteur dans une prise secteur murale.
2. Brancher le mini connecteur USB B dans le mini port USB B
situé à l’arrière du lecteur.
3. Brancher le connecteur USB de type A dans le port USB de la
tablette PC, du Motion®FlexDock ou du Motion MobileDock.
4. Microsoft®Windows®XP reconnaît automatiquement le
nouveau lecteur et installe le pilote.

Adaptateurs de prise secteur internationale
PRECAUTION : N’utiliser que l’adaptateur secteur
agréé pour ce périphérique ou l’adaptateur de prise
adéquat pour votre pays avec le lecteur. L’utilisation
d’un autre adaptateur secteur ou la tentative de
brancher un adaptateur de prise non adapté à votre
pays dans une prise secteur murale peut entraîner un
incendie ou une explosion.
1. Oter le capuchon en plastique de la prise secteur.
2. Insérer l’adaptateur secteur approprié à votre pays dans le
port exposé.
3. Appuyer fermement sur l’adaptateur de prise pour le mettre
en place.

Utilisation de l’alimentation de la batterie de la
tablette PC
Pour alimenter votre lecteur de disques optiques avec la batterie de la
tablette PC, utiliser la configuration de connexion pour la configuration de
votre système comme indiqué ci-dessous. Le voyant d’état clignote une
fois à la mise sous tension.
REMARQUE : Toutes les configurations affichées ci-dessous peuvent
être utilisées lorsque la tablette PC est connectée à une prise secteur
murale ou à une source d’alimentation c.c. (voiture/avion).

Utilisation du support du lecteur de disques
optiques
REMARQUE : Le lecteur de disques optiques (ODD) peut être utilisé
en position verticale ou horizontale.
1. Aligner les quatre lignes décoratives à l’avant de l’ODD sur
les quatre rainures du support.
2. Une fois que le lecteur de disques optiques et le support sont
alignés, enfoncer l’ODD dans le support jusqu’à ce qu’il soit
en place.
REMARQUE : Pour ne pas endommager les pieds en caoutchouc
situés sous l’ODD, vérifier que l’ODD et le support sont alignés en
position verticale comme indiqué dans illustration ci-dessous.

Utilisation du lecteur de disques optiques
1. Une fois la méthode d’alimentation du lecteur de disques
optiques (ODD) sélectionnée et l’ODD connecté à votre
tablette PC, Microsoft®Windows®XP reconnaît
automatiquement le lecteur et installe le pilote. Le voyant
d’état clignote une fois à la mise sous tension.
2. Appuyer sur le bouton d’éjection pour ouvrir le plateau du
lecteur. Le voyant d’état clignote en vert lorsqu’un accès au
lecteur est en cours.
3. Insérer le CD ou le DVD dans le plateau du disque. S’assurer
que le disque est correctement placé dans le plateau du
lecteur. Le voyant d’état clignote lors d’une opération de
lecture et d’écriture sur le disque.
4. Fermer le plateau. Si le CD ne s’exécute pas
automatiquement, sélectionner Démarrer >Exécuter
et naviguer jusqu’au lecteur CD.
AVERTISSEMENT : Ne pas appuyer ni placer d’objets lourds
sur le lecteur. Une pression continue ou le poids d’objets
lourds sur le lecteur peuvent en altérer le fonctionnement ou
l’endommager.
Installation du logiciel
Le lecteur de disque optique (ODD) nécessite un logiciel pour
lire des films DVD/MPEG2 ou pour graver un CD ou un DVD.
Microsoft Windows XP comporte des fonctions de gravure de
CD, qui peuvent suffire à vos besoins, mais le logiciel de gravure
de CD fourni avec le lecteur contient des fonctions avancées
dépassant celles de Windows XP.
•Pour installer le logiciel auteur sur CD, insérer le CD et suivre
les instructions fournies à l’écran. Lors de l’utilisation d’un
autre logiciel auteur sur CD, vérifier que le logiciel et la version
spécifique sont compatibles avec le lecteur de disques
optiques.
•Pour installer le logiciel de lecture de DVD, insérer le CD et
suivre les instructions fournies à l’écran. Lors de l’utilisation
d’un autre logiciel auteur sur DVD, vérifier que le logiciel et la
version spécifique sont compatibles avec le lecteur de disques
optiques.
