Introduction
Congratulations on the purchase of your Nav-Tracker Global Tracking system for
your yacht. This guide will instruct the user how to use the basic functions of the system.
Before proceeding, please make sure that your antenna has been activated and you have
received a login name and password from Paradox Marine. If this has not been done,
please contact your dealer for the paperwork to activate your antenna with Paradox
Marine.
Getting Started
The two primary components to the Nav-Tracker system are the control unit and
antenna (Figure 1). The control unit supplies constant power to the antenna and controls
the Disarm/Arm State. It is usually mounted underneath your helm or in a similar secure
location. The antenna is the device that tracks your vessel globally over the inmarsat
network. The once daily position reports are sent out from this unit as well as geofence
and alarm messages (when applicable). It is mounted at a relatively high point on your
vessel with a clear view of the sky.
Figure 1
The geofence is a 500ft diameter circle that surrounds your vessel when armed.
Should your vessel move outside this 500ft circle, it will begin sending out coordinates,
speed, and direction every fifteen minutes. It will do this until the geofence is turned off
or the vessel is returned back within the initial area. Reference Figures 2 and 3 below to
see an example of the geofence operation.

Control Unit
The control unit supplies power to the antenna and allows the user to disarm/arm
geofence with the keyswitch. On most applications, the control unit should have power
24/7. That is, there should always be a light on the control unit. The keyswitch should
be armed whenever the vessel is to be left alone. When it is armed the geofence is
initialized and Alarm Notifications from the External input can be sent. When the vessel
is being taken out, turn the keyswitch off. Whether the system is armed or not, the daily
position report will still transmit. Please reference Figures 4 and 5 below for a
description of the two states of the control unit.

Antenna
When the antenna first powers up, it includes instructions to start its GPS
receiver. After it has acquired its GPS position, it then identifies the best Ocean Region to
use and proceeds through the sequence of states. If, for some reason, the unit is not able
to obtain a valid GPS reading after two minutes, it will follow the sequence using the
default Ocean Region (AORW). If you wish to check the overall system operation, it
will be necessary to ensure that the terminal is activated on the website gateway and that
you have login access, so you can view the received data. On the base of the antenna is a
small blinking light that identifies the state of the signal. Initially the unit will cycle
through the following states (Table 1).
Table 1
Once it has acquired the traffic channel, the unit will cycle through the following two
states in normal operation (Table 2).
Table 2
The terminal will transmit its initial report (LED turns orange for ten seconds)
after successfully completing the above states. The total process for transmission will
normally take between three and six minutes. Providing that your terminal has been
activated, the data will be available on the site within about one minute of the actual
transmission. Once the units LED is flashing green, a signal has been acquired and the
position is adequate.
If the unit is already activated and the owner has received login info, you can
view the terminal through the website below. Contact Paradox Marine if unit is not
activated and you require a service agreement.

Remote Control
Poll boat for up to date location
Set Reporting Intervals
Figure 9
Remote Control- Query Report (poll)
This feature allows you to poll the boat and find out Latitude, Longitude, Speed,
Direction, and distance to closest city (Figure 10). Once you send the poll you will have
to wait around 5-10 minutes for the report to come back. You can see the status of the
report in the “Remote History”.
1) Select “Query Report”.
2) Make sure that the correct Asset is selected at the top of the page.
3) Under “Report Type”make sure “GPS Report”is selected and click “Poll”.
4) Wait for the report to come back and view it in the Asset or Fleet report pages.

Remote Control- Schedule Report
This feature allows for polls to automatically be sent out from the boat at varying
intervals (Figure 11). Common uses of this feature are for deliveries where up to date
tracking is needed. Once you send the poll you will have to wait around 5-10 minutes for
the report to come back. You can see the status of the report in the “Remote History”.It
is important to note that you must send a “Cancel Schedule”report to the terminal when
interval reporting is no longer needed. Failure to do so could result in monthly message
allowance overages.
5) Select “Set Interval Reporting (including script controlled)”.
6) Make sure that the correct Asset is selected at the top of the page.
7) Under “Schedule Report”, select the interval you wish to receive report in
8) Click “Schedule”.
9) Wait for the report to come back and view it in the Asset or Fleet report pages.
