1. Open the battery compartment with a coin and insertbatteries.

put in a roll of film, closethe back and advance

without batteries.
Use
two
1.5Vsilver
or alkaline
batteries,or a 3V lithium battery.Before
insertingbatteries
in the batterycompartment,
wipethem with
a clean
dry cloth.

the battery
compartment
coverwith a coin or similarobject.
o Place
the two batteries
in the compartment
with '+'marks
downward,
andclose
the cover.
Battery check
To confirm batterystatus,
set
the shutter
dialto AUTO andslightly
depress
the shutter
release
button to activate
the meteringsystem.

Automatic power cut-off
As an energy-saving
measure,a timer switch isintegrated
into the
'exposure
metercircuit. lt automatically shuts
off power

Low battery warning
Whenbatteries
become
weak,the display
windows both insideand
outside
the camerawarn you by alternatelydisplaying

afront cover.
o To remove
the front cover,
turn the cover
a full
180' while
pulling
it slightlytowards
you andthe
fastener
of thecoverunlocks.

PentaxK, KAand Kf mount lenses
follow the stepsbelow.(For screw
mount lenses,

o Removethe body mount cap
andthe rear
lens
cap.lf thefinder

still
on the eyepiece,removeit. (For the findercap,see

o Align the reddot on the camerabody with the red
dot on the
lens
(SeeO,@.).
Seat
the lensin the body mount andturn it
clockwise
until the lenslocks
with a click.
Whenmountingthe lens
in dim light,methoO
(O) is
recommended.
Thismethod
allowslens
mountingby touch. Align the raised
nodeon lens
barrelwith
the lensreleaseby touch.Then turn and lockasabove.
o To removethe lenscap, press
in on the notches
at both sides.
o To removethe lens,
press
the lensreleaselevertoward the camera
body whileturning the lens
counter-clockwise.
o After removing
a lens
from the camerabody, replacethe front
and rearlenscapsto protect the lensfrom dust
andstains.
Note: Don't damageor stain
the
electrical
contactpoints
on the
mount face.
Whenthey become
stained,
wipethem with a clean,
dry cloth.

Settingthe wind lever
for rapid shooting
The film wind levercan
be
set
at the stand-off
position
for faster
film advance.
Even
if you
remove
your thumb from the lever,
it remains
at
the stand-offangle,
ready
for the next quick shot.
After completing
a series
of pictures,
the lever
should
be
pushed
into the
original
position.

film

mechanism,

Film advance

Note: Thewind levermaystop in the middle
of
astroke
whenthe film comes
to its
end.
Do not
force
the lever
and rewind
thefilm, leaving
the
lever
as
it is.
