Positioning the TV
For the best results, choose a position where light does not fall directly on the screen, and at some distance away from radiators or
other sources of heat. Leave a space of at least 5 cm all around the TV for ventilation, making sure that curtains, cupboards etc.
cannot obstruct the air flow through the ventilation apertures.
The TV is intended for use in a domestic environment only and should never be operated or stored in excessively hot or humid
atmospheres.
General Points
Please take note of the section 'General Information' at the end of the English section in this booklet.
Interference
The Department of Trade and Industry operates a Radio Interference Investigation Service to help TV license holders improve
reception of BBC and IBA programmes where they are being spoilt by interference.
If your dealer cannot help, ask at a main Post Office for the booklet "How to improve Television and Radio Reception".
Mains connection
Before connecting the TV to the mains, check that the mains supply voltage corresponds to the voltage printed on the type plate on
the rear panel of the TV. If the mains voltage is different, consult your dealer.
Important
This apparatus is fitted with an approved moulded 13 Amp plug.
To change a fuse in this type of plug proceed as follows :
1. Remove fuse cover and fuse.
2. Fit new fuse which should be a BS1362 5A, A.S.T.A. or BSI approved type.
In order to maintain conformity to the EMC directive, the mains plug on this product must not be removed.
Connecting the aerial
The aerial should be connected to the socket marked xat the back of the receiver. An inferior aerial is likely to result in a poor,
perhaps unstable picture with ghost images and lack of contrast. Make-shift loft or set-top aerials are often inadequate.
Your dealer will know from experience the most suitable type for your locality.
Should you wish to use the receiver in conjunction with other equipment, which connects to the aerial socket such as TV games, or
a video camera, it is recommended that these be connected via a combiner unit to avoid repeated connection and disconnection of
the aerial plug.

Preparation
Make sure that the wall mount (see wall mounting instructions
supplied) is being fixed securely enough so that it can carry at least
50 kg.
&Place the receiver box wherever you want, but leave at least 5 cm space free
all around the box for ventilation.
(E.g. on the ground, in a cupboard, behind a wall, in another room....)
éConnect one of the supplied aerial cables 1, and the DISPLAY POWER 3,
DISPLAY VIDEO 2, and SUBWOOFER 4cables as shown in the inside
frontcover of this handbook.
Make sure all screws of the cables 2and 3are tighted well.
“Check if the red loudspeaker button at the back of the receiver is in the
INTERNAL SPEAKERS position.
‘Connect the two Surround Sound rear loudspeakers supplied 5.
Always connect both Surround Sound loudspeakers: the left rear loudspeaker
at REAR L; the right rear loudspeaker at REAR R.
Push the connector clip down and insert the end of the wire into the opening: the
positive wire (the one with the black line) to the grey loudspeaker connection; the
negative wire to the black loudspeaker connection. Do not insert the wires too far.
The Surround Sound loudspeakers should always be located behind or to either side of
the listener. If preferred you can also hang the loudspeakers on the wall.

To connect other peripherals, see p. 20.
In order to obtain the best result, please use only the supplied antenna cables
between the receiver box and videorecorder, and between videorecorder and
antenna connector.
§Insert the mains plug supplied 6into the power socket at the back of the
receiver and in the wall socket with a mains voltage of 220V-240V.
Please, only use the supplied rim-earthed mains cord with its built-in
suppressor to ensure safety and EMC.
èRemote control: Remove the cover of the battery compartment.
Insert the 2 batteries supplied (Type R03G-1,5V).
Press the TV key next to the display to be sure your remote control is in the
TV mode.
The batteries supplied do not contain the heavy metals mercury and cadmium.
Nevertheless in many countries exhausted batteries may not be disposed of with your
household waste. Please ensure you dispose of exhausted batteries according to local
regulations.
!Switch TV on : Press the power button Aon the front of the receiver.
A green indicator and the screen light up.
If the indicator is red, press the + P - key on the remote control.
The green indicator blinks every time you press a key on the remote control.
When you switch on your set for the first time, the MENU LANGUAGE automatically
appears on the screen. Alternatively the explanation appears in the different
languages.

Store TV channels
First, you have to select your language and your country.
&Select the Menu Language in the INSTALLATION menu and press the
OK key.
éSelect your language and press the OK key.

where you want to receive the TV channel and press the OK key.
b. If you are connected to a cable system, select the country or part of the

You can now search for and store the TV channels in two different ways: using
automatic installation or manual installation (tuning-in channel by
channel).

&In the Automatic Installation menu select On with the pπ keys to activate
the searching.
All TV channels are searched for and stored automatically.
Wait until the Searching bar at the bottom of the screen has disappeared.
If a cable system which broadcasts ACI (Automatic Channel Installation) or a
TV channel transmitting a teletext page with the frequencies and programme
names of all the TV channels which can be received, is detected, the search is
stopped and a programme list appears.
The programme list is automatically filled with all the programme numbers and
names of the TV channels transmitted.
It is possible that the cable company or the TV channel displays a broadcast selection
menu. Layout and items are defined by the cable company or the TV channel.
Make your choice with the Akeys and press the OK key.
éPress one of the colour menu keys on the door of the remote control to
return to the Installation menu.
Manual installation
Searching for and storing TV channels is done channel by channel.
You must go through every step of the Manual Installation menu.
Selection Mode is only present and lights up if the country you selected also
offers the channel option. (C-channels for aerial channels, S-channels for cable
channels.)
You can choose either channel or frequency mode.
&Select the TV system
•Select the country or part of the world from where you want to receive
the TV channel.
If you are connected to a cable system, select your country or part of the
world where you are now located.
éSearch for a TV channel
The frequency or the channel number increases until a TV channel is found.
In case of poor reception, you can improve the reception by adjusting the
frequency with the + P - key.
Direct selection of a TV channel
If you know the frequency, or the C- or S-channel number, enter the 3 digits of
the frequency directly with the digit keys 0 to 9.

To exit from the menu
•Press one of the colour menu keys on the door of the remote control.
After the new or extra TV channel has been stored, the TV automatically transfers the
TV channel(s) to the video recorder provided with the EasyLink function.
The message : EasyLink : Downloading Presets ... appears at the bottom of the
screen.
The programme list of the video recorder is now equal to the one of the TV.

According to your preference you can change the order of the stored TV
channels.
&Select Reshuffle in the INSTALLATION menu and press the OK key.
éSelect the programme number you want to change.
Use the p or π keys to select another column of the programme list.

Repeat the reshuffling until all TV channels are allocated as you like.

It is possible to change the name stored in the memory or to assign a name
to a TV channel which has not yet been entered. A name with up to 5 letters
or numbers can be given to the programme numbers 0 to 99. For example
SUPER, BBC1,... Between 99 and 0, in the column in the middle, you can also
name any peripherals that are connected.
&Select Give Name in the INSTALLATION menu and press the OK key.
éSelect the programme number.

Give name
After leaving the installation you can browse through the TV channels by
pressing the + P - key. Only those TV channels which are in the favourite list
will be displayed. The non-favourite TV channels can still be selected with the
digit keys.
You can also do this for a programme number reserved for the programmes
you receive from your decoder.
&Select Favourite programmes in the INSTALLATION menu and press the
OK key.

Audio Output
If you have audio equipment connected to your receiver, you can select two
types of audio output.
•Select Variable with the por πkeys if you want to adjust the volume via
the TV when using your audio equipment to reproduce the TV sound signal. It
is possible that the volume control of the audio equipment needs to be
adjusted.
Select Constant if you want to adjust the volume with the volume control of
your audio equipment or if you want to record the sound of a TV programme
to an audio recorder (tape, DCC,...).

Surround Mode
According to the broadcast sound modes, select the Surround Sound
possibilities:
Pro Logic with Dolby Pro Logic broadcasting. Nice effects can be reached in
Pro Logic mode with good stereo broadcasts.
Dolby 3 Stereo if no surround speakers are connected or if oversynthesized
sounds result in annoying surround effects.
Hall with mono or poor stereo broadcasting.
Off if you want to switch off Surround Sound.
Which loudspeakers are active, depends on the selected Surround mode.
See Dolby Pro Logic Install, p. 14.
Note: If you have only connected a right and left external loudspeaker and no centre
speaker, select Pro Logic and not Dolby3 Stereo in the Surround Mode menu
item. See also Centre mode, Phantom selection.
Centre Mode (only selectable in Dolby 3 Stereo or Pro Logic when you have
connected and selected external loudspeakers)
With internal speakers: the item centre mode can not be selected.
With external speakers: (external left and right loudspeakers and a centre
loudspeaker. See Connect Peripheral Equipment, External Loudspeakers, p. 22)
Note : Do not forget to put the red loudspeaker button at the back of the receiver in
the EXTERNAL SPEAKERS position.
•When in Surround Mode you have selected Pro Logic, you can select
Normal, Phantom or Wide in the Centre Mode;
•When in Surround Mode you have selected Dolby 3 Stereo, you can select
Normal or Wide in the Centre Mode;
•Select Phantom if no external centre speaker is connected;
•Select Normal if you have connected a small centre speaker which can not
reproduce low frequencies (< 100 Hz);
•Select Wide if you have connected a full range external centre speaker.

External amplifier
This menu item can only be selected in case you did NOT select external
loudspeakers (with the red loudspeaker button at the back in INTERNAL
SPEAKER position).
•Select No: - if you did not connect an audio amplifier at the back of your
receiver. The menu item Centre Mode can not be selected;
- if you want to make a sound recording from your TV on an
audio recorder. See also Audio Output;
- if you do not want to use the external audio amplifier for
reproduction of the left and right channel of the Dolby signal.
•Select Yes: - if you connected an audio amplifier to AUDIO L and Rat the
back of your receiver, see Connect Peripheral Equipment,
Audio Equipment, p. 21, and you want to enjoy even more
impressive sound.
All TV loudspeakers only function as centre speaker and the
speakers connected to the audio amplifier reproduce the left
and right channel.
The menu item Audio Output can not be selected.
In the menu item Centre Mode you can select either Normal
or Phantom (the sound from the centre speaker is reproduced
via the left and right loudspeakers of the amplifier).
Information Line
After the selection of a TV programme or after pressing the ikey on the
remote control, a TV channel which broadcasts teletext may transmit the
name of the TV channel or the programme name or another message which
appears briefly in the information line at the bottom of the screen.
When selected Off, the information line will only appear after pressing the
ikey, and not after the selection of a TV channel.

Picture mute
•Press the por πkeys to select a Blue or Black screen when there is no
picture or information.
•Press of the colour menu keys.
The INSTALLATION menu reappears.
Fast exit from the menus
•Press one of the colour menu keys repeatedly to switch off all menus.

If you have connected a decoder or a descrambler, see p. 22, you can define
one or more programme numbers as decoder programme numbers.
&Select Decoder/Descrambler in the Installation menu and press the
OK key.
éUse the red menu key to return or to switch menu off.
•Select the programme number under which you have stored the programme
coming from your decoder with the digit keys.
•Press the por πkeys to select Off, EXT1 or EXT2, the euroconnector
where you connected your decoder.
•Select Off if you do not want the selected programme number being
activated as a decoder programme number.
If the TV is connected to a video recorder with the EasyLink function, the message
EasyLink: Downloading Presets.... appears at the bottom of the screen.
The programme list of the video recorder is equal again to the one of the TV.
The keys in front of the receiver box
Should your remote be lost or broken you can still change some of the basic
picture and sound settings.
•Press the LOCAL MENU key behind the door at the front of the receiver
repeatedly to select Volume, Brightness, Colour or Contrast.
•Press the Volume - or + key to adjust the chosen selection.
The Program - and + keys enable you to select the TV channels.
Note: If the message Child Lock On appears, the child lock must be switched off
before you can use the P - and +keys on the receiver to select a TV channel.
See p. 15.
The selected adjustment automatically switches off when after 10 sec. no
action has been executed.

with the remote control.

directly in the TV mode.
VVolume
The volume is adjusted. If you want to store
the volume adjustment in the memory, see
the Features menu, General PP store, p. 15
to store the same volume adjustment for all
the stored TV channels.
PProgramme selection
To browse through the TV channels
activated in the Favourite Programme menu.
See p. 7.
¬ Mute key
Interrupt the sound temporarily or restore it.
BStandby
The set is switched off and the red indicator
lights up in front of receiver box and the
screen.
To switch the TV on again, press - P + or the
digit keys.
Your TV consumes energy in the standby-mode.
Energy consumption contributes to air and water
pollution. We advise to switch off your TV
overnight instead of leaving it on standby. You
save energy.

To select a TV channel.
For a two digit programme number, enter
the second digit within 2 seconds.
0Previous programme
The previously selected TV channel is
displayed.
iPermanent programme number
Screen information
Press for 5 seconds to activate/de-activate
the continuous display of the programme
number.
Press briefly to display information about the
selected TV channel and programme, the
sound reception, the selected DNR setting
and picture format and the remaining time
set with the sleeptimer.

q Picture format
Press the qkey repeatedly to select
another picture format: 4:3, Movie Expand
14:9, Movie 16:9 with or without subtitling,
Super Wide, Wide Screen or Auto Format.
When in Movie Expand 14:9 or 16:9 picture
format, you can make subtitles visible or not
with the oor œkeys.
When the broadcaster transmits PALplus
signals, the Movie Expand 16:9 picture
format is selected automatically.
(In case of PALplus transmission, the set also
reproduces PALplus quality.)
Sometimes video recorders or TV
programmes carry special signals which will
automatically switch the TV to the correct
screen format.
Selecting Auto format, the screen will be
filled as much as possible with the picture in
case of no Palplus transmission or when TV
programmes are not carrying special signals
detecting the correct screen format.
Auto format is disabled when in Dual Screen.
Note: In VGA mode press the qkey to switch
between a 4:3 or a 16:9 picture format.
In Dual screen mode press the qkey to switch
between a full or a squeezed picture format.

Select the desired TV channel with the oor
œkeys and press OK. Programme numbers
from the favourite list are displayed in white
characters. Programme numbers which are
not in the favourite list are displayed in black.
The current TV channel on the screen is
indicated with a black block.

UTime display
The time, downloaded from the TV channel
(with teletext) stored on programme
number 1 or under the lowest favourite
programme number, is displayed in the
upper left corner of the screen.
This function is not available when continuous
subtitles have been switched on.

A menu line MOSAIC appears.
Select the desired function with the por π

Scan: the TV channels placed in the
favourite list appear subsequently.
Press the - P + key to select a next series of
12 channels. Press the c key to make the
main picture in the centre of the screen
equal to the active small picture. The active
TV channels, indicated by a red border, can
be selected immediately with the OK key.
Photo Finish: the main picture is displayed
in successive frozen pictures.
Press the OK key again to have a new
sequence of frozen pictures.
Strobe: the picture is reproduced image by
image.
Press the OK key again to have a faster
speed.
Press fito switch off the mosaic screen.
Never perform a scan while recording a TV
programme with a video recorder recording from
EXTERNAL 1 or 2, since the scan will be recorded
on tape.
sPersonal Preferences
Restore picture and sound settings, stored in
the features menu (see p. 15).
SFreeze
When pressed, Dual Screen is activated and
the displayed picture is frozen on the right
side of the screen.
Press again to de-activate the frozen picture.
PDigital Noise Reduction
To reduce the image noise and improve
picture quality when receiving weak signals.
Press this key to select DNR min, DNR med
(optimum picture quality for normal strength
signal), DNR max (for poor picture quality)
or DNR off.
jContinuous subtitles
TV channels with teletext often transmit
certain programmes with subtitling.
Switch on teletext and select the proper
subtitle page from the index.
Press jto store the subtitle page.
Switch off teletext.
Every time a programme of the selected TV
channel is subtitled, the subtitling will be
available for that channel.
Press jto switch subtitles On or Off.
When switched on and the subtitle symbol
appears, there are no subtitles available for
that programme.
Note: subtitling is not available when in Dual
Screen mode.

Picture
Each time it is pressed, a different picture

Sharpness and Dynamic Contrast.
Sound
Each time it is pressed, a different sound

specific predefined setting of Treble and
Bass values in the Graphic Equalizer.
Personal refers to the personal preference
setting of picture and sound which you have
stored with General PP store in the
FEATURES menu, p. 15.
The smart picture and sound settings are set
to Manual until the personal adjustments
are stored or you switched the TV off and
on again.

Picture menu
When you are watching a TV channel in the NTSC-system, or if a NTSC peripheral is
connected to one of the euroconnectors, the option Hue also appears and can be
adjusted.
•Store the modified adjustments for Contrast, Brightness, Colour, Tint and
Dynamic Contrast for all TV channels with General PP store in the
FEATURES menu.
Sharpness (not available in VGA mode)
You can adjust the Sharpness for each TV channel separately.
Tint
•Select the colour temperature: Normal, Warm or Cool.
Natural Motion (not available in VGA mode)
•Natural Motion : Field and line flicker reduction and smooth movement
reproduction.
•Select On or Off.
Dynamic Contrast (not in VGA mode)
To make the contrast between darker and brighter picture parts more
outspoken, it is preferred to select Med or Max.
In certain circumstances it may be preferred to select Min or Off.
VGA
•Switch your computer on.
•Select Rear or Front in the VGA Input of the FEATURES menu (see p. 16),
according to where you connected your computer, to the back or to the
front of the receiver.
The selection of the computer display mode (640x350, 640x400, 640x480) is
made automatically.
If it is necessary you can optimise the position of the picture from your
computer per VGA mode.
•Select VGA with the oand œkeys.
•Select with the por πkeys the adjustments of the picture :
•H. Shift to adjust the picture position horizontally
•V. Shift to adjust the picture position vertically
•Press the pand πkeys to alter the selected adjustment.
The VGA menu disappears and only the selected menu item remains (including
its bar) on the screen.
The VGA menu reappears after a few moments or by pressing OK.
Now you can select another adjustment with oand œkeys.
The adjustments made in the VGA menu are automatically stored after the
menu is switched off.
Note: When the VGA signal is not recognisable and >35 KHz is displayed, the
picture is muted.

Sound menu
•Store the modified adjustments for Volume, Balance, Treble and Bass values
from the Graphic Equalizer menu and Spatial, as well as the headphone
volume and balance for all TV channels with General PP store in the
FEATURES menu.
Sound style / Graphic Equalizer
This menu item has the same functions as the Smart Controls key Sound on
the remote control.
Also here you can select the preferred sound style which corresponds with a
specific predefined setting of the graphic equalizer.
The sound style is set to Manual until the personal graphic equalizer settings
are stored and until you switched your TV off and on again.
Sound mode
Your TV will choose between stereo or digital sound depending on the sound
the TV channel transmits, unless you make a sound choice.
In case of weak stereo or digital sound signals, due to the transmission, select
analogue or mono.
Switch Loudness on or off
When Loudness On is selected, the low and high frequencies are amplified so
that the natural balance is restored when listening at a low volume.
Select Speech
When Speech On is selected, the treble settings are enhanced and the bass
settings are suppressed.
Select Spatial sound
When Spatial On is selected, it seems as though the loudspeakers are spread
further apart from one another.
You get a spatial sound effect. The setting for Spatial is stored per TV
channel.
Headphone
See Connect Peripheral Equipment, p. 22, for the connection of the
headphone.
Select the source you want to listen to with your headphone: Automatic,
TV, EXT1, EXT2 or EXT3.
•Select Automatic if you want to listen to the sound of the picture you are
watching on the screen.
Note: in the Dual Screen picture, you will only hear the sound of the left picture
through your headphone, except if a picture from a connected peripheral has
been selected.
•Select TV when you want to listen to the sound of a TV channel or an
external via your TV tuner and watch a programme via your video recorder
or other peripheral.
E.g. you can watch a film from your video recorder, but listen to the
commentary of a broadcasted football match.
•In all other cases select the source where you connected your equipment.
The equipment should be switched on, but you don’t need to watch it.
•Select Dual to choose between the dubbed or original language when the
TV channel broadcasts in two languages.

Dolby* Pro Logic Install
Adjust the volume balance level of the loudspeakers
Most programmes will sound good with the volume balance between the
centre, left, right and rear loudspeakers in an equally loud position.
However, some programmes may benefit from an adjustment of the level of
the respective speakers.
Which loudspeakers are active depends on the selection you have made in the
Setup menu, p. 7, or on the Surround Mode selection you make below.
&Select Pro Logic in Surround Mode of the DOLBY PRO LOGIC INSTALL
menu.
The Dolby Pro Logic menu can also be selected directly with the white key on the
remote control.
éSelect Test On.
A steady noise tone is switched sequentially through the left, centre, right and
rear loudspeakers, for 2 seconds each. This enables you to adjust the volume
of the separate loudspeakers.
The loudspeakers activated light up in the on screen graphic.
“Select Centre Volume, Balance or Rear Volume and alter the selected
adjustments until all loudspeakers sound equally loud from the listeners
position.
‘Switch Test Off again.
Surround mode
According to the broadcast sound modes, select the Dolby Surround Sound
possibilities:
Pro Logic (with Dolby Surround encoded broadcasting or video material)
In addition to the left and right front speakers, the centre and the rear
surround loudspeakers reproduce the Dolby Surround Pro Logic sounds when
the movie or programme is marked with Dolby Surround.
This mode is especially recommended for such programmes or movies.
Dolby 3 Stereo (using only the 3 front loudspeakers for enhanced stereo
reproduction)
Note there is no Dolby 3 Stereo sound signal.
This mode is intended if no rear surround loudspeakers are connected
although you may wish to take advantage of the benefits of surround sound.
The Dolby Surround encoded sources are reproduced from the left, the right
and the centre loudspeakers. Surround information is now reproduced in the
left and right front loudspeakers.
Hall (without Dolby Surround broadcasting)
This mode is recommended when you wish to add surround sound to a
broadcast which is not encoded Dolby Surround or to a mono or poor stereo
broadcast. The centre loudspeaker does not produce any signal.
Off
This mode reproduces only the left and right front sound signals.
This mode is recommended if no surround sound is desired or if there is no
surround broadcasting.
You only hear a stereo sound if the broadcast which you are watching or
listening to is transmitted in stereo or digital sound.
•Press the green menu key repeatedly to switch off the menu.

Sleeptimer
With the sleeptimer you can set a time period after which the TV should
switch itself off to standby.
The counter runs from Off up to 180 min. or from 180 min. down to Off.
One minute before the TV is set to go to standby, the remaining minute and
the message Good Night appear on screen. You can always switch off your
set earlier or change the set time.
Child Lock
If the child lock is on, the TV can only be switched on with the remote
control.
The keys P- and + behind the front door of the receiver cannot be used to
select a TV channel. In this way you can prevent unauthorised use of your TV.
If the message Child Lock On appears, the child lock must be switched off
before you can use the P- and + keys on the receiver to select a TV channel.
General PP store
The adjustments of Contrast, Brightness, Colour and Dynamic Contrast made
in the picture menu and the adjustments of Volume, Balance (of the internal
speakers) and Graphic Equalizer made in the sound menu and Volume and
Balance in the headphone menu can be stored in memory for all the stored TV
channels.
Message
With this function you can enter a personal message on 2 lines which will be
displayed automatically when the set is switched on from standby.
For example: I’ll be late this evening. Don’t wait for dinner.
Change
•Select with the oor œkeys the letter or number you want to enter.
•Select with the πkey the next position.
•Press the OK key when you have entered the complete message.
Clear
•Press the OK key to remove a previous message.
Type
•Press the por πkeys to select the way the message will be displayed:
Wipe, Slide, Fall or Fade.
The Fade display is a randomly selection of the three other display types.
Run
•Press the por πkeys to select the display frequency: Continuous, Once
or No.
Display message
•Switch the TV to standby.
The message appears on the screen when the TV is switched on again.
If you selected Once, the message will disappear from the screen after
30 seconds.
If you selected Continuous, the message will appear on the screen until the
display frequency is switched off in the Message menu.
The message does NOT appear when Continuous subtitles have been
switched On. See p. 11.

Timers
With the Timers menu you can make your TV automatically switch to a
specific programme number from standby or switch over to a different
programme number at a specific time and date.
Actual time
If you have installed a TV channel which also broadcasts teletext on
programme number 1 or under the lowest favourite programme number, the
time is downloaded from that TV channel.
If this is not the case you have to set the time manually with the digit keys. The
time, entered manually is updated every minute and remains until the TV is
switched off with the power key A.
Programme
•Enter with the digit keys the programme number of the TV channel you want
your TV to switch over to.
Start time
•Enter with the digit keys the start time of the selected TV programme number
you want your TV to switch over to.
Cancel timer
•Select Cancel timer and press OK to reset the Start time to --:--.
VGA Input
•Select Rear or Front according to where you connected your computer, to
the back or to the front of the receiver.

The picture on the left side is the selected TV channel.
The picture on the right side is the picture from the TV channel in the
favourite programme list following on the selected TV channel.
éPress the qkey to select a vertical squeezed or a non vertical squeezed
picture size.
Select left and right pictures
&Press + P - to run through the TV channels in the left picture.
éPress the dual screen P - or P + keys under the door of the remote
control to select the TV channels or an external in the right picture. Also TV
channels which are not in the favourite list may be selected.
Pressing the dual screen P - or P+ keys for 3 seconds, starts auto scan down or
up of the TV channels in the right picture.
Press again to stop the auto scan.
Remarks
• Programmes via a decoder/descrambler can only be displayed in the
left picture.
• Programmes in the subpicture via a peripheral (e.g. videorecorder) can be heard via
the headphone.
• PALplus is disabled in Dual Screen mode.
• VGA can not be displayed in Dual Screen mode.
• On screen sound information of the left main picture appears in the right
upper corner.
Switch screens
Press the ckey to swap the right and left picture. The sound is swapped as
well.
Select still picture
•Press the Skey to get a still picture of the left picture on the right side of the
screen.
•Press the Skey again to de-activate the still picture and the dual screen
mode.
•Press the dkey to freeze only the programme in the right picture.
•Press the dkey again to de-activate the still picture. The screen remains in
dual screen mode.

About the Easy Text system
The Easy Text system considerably reduces the waiting time (on condition the
teletext broadcast of the particular TV channel is switched on for at least half a
minute) by :
•a direct selection of previous and following pages which are in
transmission and of the pages referred to at the right side of the screen
•a habit watcher list: frequently used pages are put in a list of preferred
pages, so that they are immediately available afterwards
•the precapturing of the page numbers referred to in the displayed page
•the precapturing of all the subpages.
Switch Teletext on and off
•Press bto switch on or off the teletext.
The main index page appears on the screen together with an information line
at the top and the option possibilities at the right side of the screen.
Dual Screen is disabled in Teletext mode.
Select a Teletext page
With the digit keys
•Enter the desired page number with the digit keys.
The page counter seeks the page or the page appears immediately when the
page number has been stored in the memory.
A message appears when you have entered a non existent or an incorrect page
number. Page numbers beginning with 0 or 9 do not exist. Choose another number.
With the options line
•Select with the colour keys, corresponding to the coloured options at the right
side of the screen, the desired subject.
Quickly run through the teletext pages
•Press p or πor - P + to run through the previous or the following pages.
Select the previously selected txt page
•Press the 0key.
Teletext
Most TV channels broadcast information via teletext. Each channel which
broadcasts teletext transmits a page with information on how to use its
teletext system. Look for the teletext page with the main index (usually p. 100).
TV programmes are sometimes subtitled for the hard of hearing.
Depending on the TV channel, teletext is transmitted in different systems.
The colours used at the right side of the screen correspond with the coloured
keys of your remote control.
