PERSONAL SAFETY
CAUTION! Wear protective equipment approved by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or
American National Standards Institute (ANSI) when using the tool.
1. Dress properly, wear protective equipment. Use breathing, ear, eye, face, foot, hand, and
head protection. Always wear ANSI approved impact safety goggles, which must provide
both frontal and side protection. Protect your hands with suitable gloves. Wear a full-face
shield if your work creates metal filings or wood chips. Protect your head from falling objects
by wearing a hard hat. Wear an ANSI approved dust mask or respirator when working around
metal, wood, and chemical dusts and mists. Wear ANSI approved earplugs. Protective,
electrically non-conductive clothes, and non-skid footwear are recommended when working.
Wear steel-toed boots to prevent injury from falling objects.
2. Control the tool, personal movement, and the work environment to avoid personal injury or
damage to the tool. Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use your common sense.
3. Keep articles of clothing, jewelry, hair, etc., away from moving parts to avoid entanglement
with a tool.
4. Do not operate any machine / tool when tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol,
or medications.
5. Do not overreach when operating a tool. Proper footing and balance enables better control of
a tool in unexpected situations.
SPECIFIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
1. Work on a flat, level surface only.
2. Never attempt to move a loaded stand across a floor that has cracks or other obstacles that
might impede the movement of the wheels.
3. Never work directly under a supported engine.
4. Never roll the engine stand without the lock pin securing the mounting plate in a
locked position.
5. Be sure that the engine is appropriately supported before starting repairs.
6. Do not exceed the maximum capacity of 1,000 lb. Overloading can cause damage to, or
failure of, the engine stand.
7. Maintain the engine stand in good condition. Keep it clean for the best and
safest performance.
8. Do not allow untrained persons to operate the tool.
9. Make sure there is enough clearance around the engine stand and the load for movement.
10. Inspect the tool before each use. DO NOT use if bent, broken, cracked, or otherwise
damaged, if any suspect parts are noticed, or if it has been subjected to a shock load.
11. Check to ensure that all applicable bolts and nuts are firmly tightened.
12. If the engine stand needs repairing or any parts need to be replaced, have it repaired by an
authorized service technician. Use only manufacturers recommended replacement parts.
