OPERATION
Plug the mains lead into a 13 Amp mains socket.
If connecting via an extension lead, make sure that the lead is rated at 13 Amps or
more, and that it is fully unwound.
Switch the unit on at the mains socket.
Turn the power to the unit on at the switch on the top (Fig
1.), the unit will beep. The heater is now in standby mode, to
turn on press the On/Off button (Fig 2) on the top of the unit.
When first turned on the heater will be in LO power mode and
the thermostat is set at 20°C. Repeatedly pressing the mode button will
cycle through the running modes in order LO–HI–ECO–ANTI, these modes are
described in further detail below.
Thermostat Setting: As mentioned above the
thermostat is set to the default value of 20°C,
to change the desired temperature press the ˄
or ˅buttons (Fig 3) till the desired temperature
is achieved. The value can be set
between 5°C and 35°C in 1°C intervals.
Mode Functions:
LO –LO shows on the display. Heater runs at LO
Power (1000W) till the desired temperature set on the
thermostat is reached, at this point the heater and fan
will stop for a minimum of 60 seconds. After this time if
the room temperature has dropped below the
thermostat temperature the unit will resume at LO
power otherwise it will remain in standby mode till the
room temperature drops sufficiently.
HI –HI shows on the display. Heater runs at HI Power
(2000W) till the desired temperature set on the
thermostat is reached, at this point the heater and fan
will stop for a minimum of 60 seconds. After this time if
the room temperature has dropped below the
thermostat temperature the unit will resume at HI power
otherwise it will remain in standby mode till the room temperature drops
sufficiently.
ECO –ECO shows in the display. In ECO mode the unit
has two separate functions.
1. Temperature Control. The unit selects the
appropriate power according to the differential
between the room temperature and the set
thermostat temperature. If the room
temperature is more than 1.5°C lower than the thermostat
temperature the unit will operate at HI power (2000W). When the
room temperature is less than 1.5°C lower than the thermostat
temperature the unit will then operate at LO power (1000W).

Page 4
When the room is at the desired temperature the heater and fan
will stop for a minimum of 60 seconds. After this time if the room
temperature has dropped below the thermostat temperature the
unit will resume at LO power otherwise it will remain at standby
mode till the room temperature drops sufficiently for the heater to
resume.
2. Room Occupation. In ECO mode the PIR sensor is used to
detect the presence of people within the room. The unit will
operate as normal (see point 1 above) until no movement has
been detected for more than 10 minutes. After 10 minutes with
no movement the thermostat will reduce by 3°C. If after 24 hours
there is still no movement the thermostat will reduce to 7°C. If at
this point the heater detects movement for greater than 1 minute
it will beep and the thermostat will return to the set temperature
and continue operation.
Anti-Frost -- A snowdrop symbol shows on the display. In
anti-frost mode the thermostat is set at 7°C and the heater
will only operate if the temperature drops below this value to
help prevent any frost damage.
When the heater is used for the first time you may notice that the unit emits a little
smoke, this is normal and is caused by oil residue from the manufacturing process
on the heater. This will stop after a few minutes.
Do not touch the air output grille when the heater is in operation, because it will be
hot and may cause burns.
Unplug the heater from the mains supply when not in use.

Page 5
OPERATING COSTS
At time of going to press, the average cost of electricity is £0.13 per unit (kilowatt-
hour). The amount you are being charged will be shown on your electricity bill.
At this cost, the EH1670 will cost £0.13 per hour to run at the low setting and £0.26
per hour on the hot air setting. Use of the thermostat and eco function will reduce
this figure.
MAINTENANCE
Before cleaning, turn the heater off, and disconnect from the mains supply. The
heater may then be cleaned using a damp cloth with a drop of washing-up liquid to
remove any dust or dirt from the case. Do no use stronger detergents or solvents
as these may damage the paint finish.
Using a dry 1" (25mm) paint-brush, remove any dust from the grilles.
The EH1670 has a dust filter fitted to the air intake on the rear of the unit. To clean
follow the instructions below;
1. Remove the cover holding the filter holder in
position.
2. Gently pull the filter holder and foam filter from
the base.
3. Gently clean the foam filter, this can be done
using warm water with a small amount of
detergent added.
4. Thoroughly air dry the filter foam and
replace in heater.
5. Replace the cover in the base.
If the mains lead is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or an authorised service centre. If the
mains plug needs to be replaced, proceed as follows:
Connect the brown wire to the terminal labelled "L".
Connect the blue wire to the terminal labelled "N".
Make sure that the cord-grip is positioned correctly
(over the outer sheath of the cable) and is fully tightened.
If the plug is fitted with a 3 A or 5 A fuse, replace it with
a 13A fuse.

FAULT-FINDING
The EH1670 has an overheat protection switch, which disconnects the power if the
element gets too hot. The usual reason for this is because the air-flow has been
obstructed, or the grilles have been blocked. If the heater ceases to operate, leave
it for 20 minutes to cool down, then check that the grilles are not being obstructed.
If there appears to be excessive dust or dirt build up on the air filter refer to
maintenance section above on how to clean.
Reconnect to the mains supply and operate as per the user instructions for the LO
heat setting. If the fan operates, then it is safe to select the Hi or ECO setting. If the
fan does not operate, or overheat protection switch operates again, contact an
authorised service agent for repair.
