Your new Programmable Video System lets you enjoy a tremendous
variety of different video games over your TV. Its versatile micro-
processor "brain" and the extensive library of available optional game
cartridges allow unlimited fun for the whole family. For example —
cartridge 3001 offers 12 action sport games —
each
playable at 5
different levels of skill — from 'outright beginner' to advanced pro'.
The Programmable Video System attaches easily to most brands of
television; any screen size black and white or color. In order to under-
stand and get the most enjoyment from your home video system,
please take a few minutes to read this booklet.

INSTALLATION
1.1
Disconnect your TV Antenna lead from the back of your TV and
plug it into the socket marked 'Antenna on the Switchbox
furnished with your Programmable Video System.
12 Insert the Video System connector plug into the socket marked
'Game' on the switchbox. Then plug the switchbox into the TV
Antenna socket at the back of your TV. Set the switchbox to
the 'Game' position. Be sure the switch is set all the way over to
the 'Game position.

Connect the mains adaptor lead to the socket at the back of the
Game Console. The special plug on the mains adaptor lead is
designed to only connect if the plug is aligned correctly so turn
the plug until it fits into the socket•do not force this plug. Use
only the mains adaptor supplied with the system — the use of any
other mains adaptor could cause severe damage.
Plug the mains adaptor into the mains.
1.4 Make sure the Video System is switched 'OFF' then carefully
insert a cartridge into the slot on the Game Console.
Note that the Cartridge is right side
up —
that is the printed label
on the Cartridge is right side up and facing towards you; it should
slide easily downwards through the 'door' in the Game Console
until the cartridge connects inside the game. Be sure the cartridge
is firmly connected inside but do not force it.

Tune your TV to receive the Video System signal as follows:
A.
Check that the system is connected properly and the cartridge
is fully inserted, then switch 'ON' the Power switch on the
Game Console and press the 'RESET' button. Set the switch
box to the 'Game position.
B.
Switch on your TV and switch the TV to an unused channel
on the channel selector.
C.
Adjust the tuning control on your TV set until the game
playing field appears on the TV screen. When you have the
set 'tuned•in' properly you will have a sharp clear image.
D.
Adjust the TV contrast, brightness, and colour controls if
using a colour TV) for a pleasant picture.
E.
On some TV's it may be necessary to adjust the 'horizontal
hold' or vertical hold.

1.7 When playing the games you will hear sound effects over the
loudspeaker on your TV. If the game sounds are not clear then it
may be necessary to adjust the Sound Control which is located on
the underside of the Game Console. Adjust carefully with a small
screw-driver
and
do not use force to turn this control. The range
of movement of this control is only one-half turn.
GAME CARTRIDGE
2.1 The Programmable Video System enables you to use your Game
Console with different optional cartridges to play
a
wide variety
of games. In addition to the cartridge supplied with the system,
there are many other game cartridges now available. Some of the
cartridges utilize the keyboards on the Player Control Hand Com
soles to enter information or control gwne motion. The cartridges
are
all supplied with complete instructions and when necessary an
appropriate keyboard overlay is furnished with the cartridge 10
indicate the key functions.
2-2 The How-To-Play section of this booklet gives brief instructions
for playing the PRO SPORT 60 cartridge, complete instructions
and a keyboard overlay is included with the cartridge.

Inserting and Removing cartridges:
A. Always switch your Programmable Video System off when
inserting or removing game cartridges.

Hold the cartridge so that it is right side up and aligned with
the slot in the Game Console.
C.
Insert the cartridge down into the Game Console. The cart-
ridge should slide without being forced. Slide the cartridge
down until you feel it connect inside the Game Console at
the bottom of its travel. NEVER TRY TO FORCE A CART-
RIDGE INTO THE GAME CONSOLE. •
D.
To remove acartridge turn the Game Console OFF, then pull
the cartridge straight up out of the Game Console.

PRECAUTIONS. The Game Cartridges contain sensitive electronic
circuitry
and
should never
be
subjected to rough handling.
A.
Avoid storing cartridges where they will be exposed to ex-
cessive heat or moisture.
B.
Switch the Game Console off when inserting and removing
cartridges.
C.
Do not open or tamper with cartridges.

HOW TO PLAY — PRO SPORT 60 GAME CARTRIDGE
3.1 After completing the installation instructions you are ready to
play. The following information is for the Pro Sport 60 cartridge
which
was
included with your Programmable Video System. For
additional details see the Pro Sport 60 Game Instructions. Playing
instructions for other game cartridges
are
included with the game
cartridges.

The Pro Sport 60 cartridge uses several of the keys on the Player
Control Hard Consoles to control play in some of the games. The
Pro Sport 60 cartridge includes overlays which are designed to lit
over the key boards to indicate the keys used to effect ball angle
(L) and ball speed 1•1 in these games.

The keys on the Game Console we used to select, start. and reset
games. Their functions are
SELECT — is used to select the desired game from those available
on the cartridge. Pressing the Select key once will
cause the cartridge to select and display the next
game. Press and hold the Select key to rapidly run
forward through all the garnes on the cartridge. Re•
lease the Select key when you reach the desired game.
RESET — is used to go back to the first game on the cartridge.
START — is used to begin play. This key will also "Zero' the
game scores for those games which are individually
scored, when restarting another game.
3.4
After inserting the Pro Sport 60 cartridge
A.
Press Reset to Reset game to first game.
B.
Press Select key to select the desired game.
C.
Press Start to begin playing.
D.
Use Joystick Controls to control player movement across the
TV screen. In some garnet you may also use the keys indi-
cated by • or L on the keyboard overlay to affect the game
play.

The first player to score 15 points is the winner of a game. After
15 points the Start key must be pressed to start a new game.

6 At the end of play be sure to set the power switch to 'off' posi-
tion. Set the switchbox to the 'Antenna' position and you can
then resume watching regular TV broadcast stations.

3.7 This Video System is designed to operate with all brands of
television. On some TV's the players may occasionally appear
to vibrate or 'wiggle' slightly when they art left stationary in
some locations on the screen. Likewise a thin line may appear
on one side of the player or playing field outlines. Neither of
these conditions has any effect on play.
3-8 If another game has not been started within a few minutes after
a game is over the system has been programmed to flash the play
ing field in alternating colours (on colour TV's( to draw your
attention and prevent possible damage to your TV.
MAINTENANCE
4.1 Your Programmable Video System has been carefully assembled
using highest quality components. It has been fully tested and is
designed to provide you with many years of enjoyment. Please
keep the following points in mind in order to maintain your
Programmable Video System in good working order,
A Don't try to force Game Cartridges into the Caine Console.
Never put pencils, pens or any other object through the slot
in the Game Console. Don't allow food crumbs, liquids, or
dirt to fall throw the gale cartridge slot.
B.
Prevent dust from accumulating in the game cartridge slot
and falling inside the Game Console.
C.
Unplug the mains power supply from the mains when the
Programmable Video System is not in use. Do not attempt to
use any other power supply as you could damage the Game
Console. Do not attempt to use the power supply for other
purposes.
0. Remember to turn the power switch OFF when not in use
and whenever inserting or removing game cartridges.
E.
Use a soft, slightly damp cloth to clean the exterior of the
Game Console.
F.
Avoid subjecting the Game Console or Game Cartridges to
excessive heat or rough handling.
G.
Do not attempt to use a Game Cartridge other than those
designed for this Game System.
