GPS Antenna Installation and Placement
Testing the Tracker
Securing the Tracking Device
The WedgeTM requires the installation of an external GPS antenna. This antenna MUST be mounted to a metallic
surface in a location that provides a clear view of the sky. Metallic objects will block the GPS signal and severely
reduce tracker performance. Most vehicles have some sort of metallic support beam running inside of the
dashboard, so be careful not to place the antenna in a location where this support beam will block the GPS signal
from reaching the antenna. The preferred location for antenna placement is inside a pillar of the vehicle. A good
alternate location is inside the dashboard mounted on top of the metallic support beam or some other metallic
surface Be sure to secure the antenna with a zip tie.
Once all connections have been made, wrap any excess wiring and secure with one of the provided zip ties. Also,
secure the tracker with zip ties to ensure the device does not shift or become loose during vehicle operation.
The WedgeTM will automatically send an “Initial Install” location if the device is receiving a good cellular signal and
has a solid GPS lock. Access the device’s mapping page to see this message, or call the installer IVR line at 1-800-
672-7193. If the initial message is not on the mapping page, reposition the GPS antenna and/or tracking device
and request a locate to ensure the device is tracking. Also be sure to test all optional features that may have been
installed.
During power-up, all three LEDs will illuminate with solid indications. After the device has registered to the
cellular network and has obtained a GPS x (usually within 2 minutes), the LEDs will begin a RED, GREEN, BLUE
cycle to indicate normal operation.
