Our V2359j amp4ribbon module for t e api®500 system was built to ensure and exceed t e ig est
manufacturing standards possible. We are ad ering to all European and national guidelines currently in
effect. T e EMV compatibility as been certified and t e appropriate records are available in our office.
Every unit w ic leaves our factory is in a perfect working condition and meets all designed factory
specifications.
We ave written t is operating manual as a reference for you. It contains important notes for t e correct
operation and t e andling of your new product. In order to maintain t e factory specs and guarantee a
safe operation in t e future, we advise t at you read t e included operating manual as well as any furt er
safety documents. (see below)
If you are passing t e unit over to t ird parties, please make t em aware of t ese documents.
Any use outside of t e applications described in t is manual may cause damage to t e product. T e
product must not be altered or modified. Any improper usage may cause multiple azards suc as
electrical s orts, fire, electric s ocks, and ot er azards.
T e enclosed safety and azard notices refer to t e installation and operation in an api®500 system.
T ere may be relevant guidelines and regulations t at affect t e operation, even if t ey do not apply to
our product directly. T e installation and operation s ould t erefore be carried out by trained personnel
only.
Operation of t e unit in adverse environmental conditions - suc as moisture and / or excessive
umidity, dust, gases, vapors or solvents - is not permitted.

Function, functional components and their effect
T e V2359j amp4ribbon microp one preamplifier enables t e connection of all passive transducers, suc
as ribbon, moving coil, carbon, piezo and crystal microp ones. Wit a continuously adjustable
preamplification in t e range of 26 dB to 59 dB (optionally up to 76 dB, see bulletin no. 005 on our
omepage at ttps://www.rogersc ult.com/downloads.p p) t e microp one signal is raised to t e
required line level.
A gain reduction of -15 dB (optionally -20dB) can be activated by a switc (pad -15 dB).
T is is followed by t e adaptation of t e load impedance by t e impedance controller (Z) in order to
determine t e frequency response and t us t e c aracter of t e sound transducer. T is unique continous
impedance matc ing in t e range from 150 o ms to 22 kO ms is a powerful tool for determination of t e
transfer function. W et er linearly optimized or to create a sound full of c aracter, t is controller can be
used in versatile ways.
T e V2359j amp4ribbon as t ree different filters to c ange t e frequency. To eliminate low-frequency
interference or to reduce t e bass, a ig pass (LF, fader below rig t) is activated wit a reduction of up to
-17 dB at 20 Hz. A Baxandall filter (HF, fader top rig t) wit +/- 12 dB at 9 kHz for ig frequencies and a
semi-parametric filter for t e mid frequencies. Wit t is mids filter (MF), t e frequency can be
continuously adjusted between 150 Hz to 3.5 kHz and t e level range from +/- 10 dB. T e c oice of t e
filter quality (Q) can be preselected by means of a t ree position toggle switc wit left stop 0.4 (wide),
center position 0.7 (narrow) and rig t stop variable by means of a trim potentiometer (trim Q, preset to 3
at factory) between 2.4 and 4. T e entire filter unit can be deactivated using t e (bypass filter) switc .
(+48 V) p antom power supply is an extension for t e use of active microp ones. W en t e p antom
power pressure switc is activated, t e impedance is fixed to a value of 2 kO m to protect t e microp one
electronics.

MF (PEQ) 2 rotary controls + switc + trimmer for t e mids as a semi-parametric EQ
Potentiometers for frequencies from 150 Hz to 3.5 kHz and level wit +/- 10 dB
Toggle switc for quality (Q factor) 0.4 and 0.7 and
Trimmer for fine adjustment of t e quality in t e range from 2.4 to 4
+ 48V (p antom power) pressure switc to activate t e +48 V
Note: all pressure switc es are illuminated w en activated

Installation in an api ® 500 system
Instructions for installing the V2359j amp4ribbon filter module
Please note t at electric potential differences and electrostatic disc arges (ESD) can destroy your api ®
500 system and t e V2359j amp4ribbon module. Please make sure to disc arge any potential electrostatic
c arges by touc ing a plumbing pipe, eating pipe or any ot er piece of metal connected to eart before
installing t e V2359j module. Neutral electric potential is a prerequisite to any installation or
reconfiguration of electronics modules and t eir interconnections.
Turn off your api ® 500 rack or console and all connected devices. Remove any blank panels t at mig t
cover t e slot you ave c osen for installation of t e module.
Center t e module between t e two t readed mounting oles and evenly insert t e module into t e free
slot wit out applying brute force. Secure t e V2359j module wit bot screws. T e module is ready for
operation once t e appropriate connections in t e rear of t e api ® box ave been taken care of.
