You have purchased a dependa le machine, ut only y proper care and operation you can expect to
receive the performance and long service uilt into this Mower. Please have all operators read this

Your SHIBAURA dealer will instruct you in the general operation of your Mower. (Refer to the "Delivery
Report" at the ack of this manual.) Your dealer's staff of factory-trained service technicians will e glad
to answer any questions that may arise regarding the operation of your Mower.
Your SHIBAURA dealer carries a complete line of genuine SHIBAURA parts. These parts are
manufactured and carefully inspected to insure high quality and accurate fitting of any necessary
replacement parts.
Keep this manual next to your machine, after you have read through it. If you lose or damage this

SECTION 1-SAFETY RULES
4) Never use the Slope Mower.
-
When people, especially children, or pets are
near y.
- If the operator has taken medicine or
su stances that can affect his a ility to
react
and concentrate.
5) Keep in mind that the operator or user is
responsi le for accidents or hazards
occurring to other people or their property.
6) Do not carry passengers.
7) The operator of a Slope Mower must carefully
follow the driving instructions, particularly:
- The need for care and concentration when
using Slope Mowers;
- That control of a Slope Mower sliding on a
slope will not e regained y the application
of the rake.
The main reasons for loss of control are:
- Insufficient wheel grip;
- Being driven too fast;
- Inadequate raking;
- The type of machine is unsuita le for its task;
- Lack of awareness of the effect of ground
conditions, especially slopes;
- Incorrect hitching and load distri ution.
8) The Slope Mower is equipped with a series of
safety microswitches and devices which
must never e removed, altered or tampered
with. Removing these devices invalidates the
warranty and the manufacture declines any
responsi ility.
B) PREPARATION
1) While mowing, always wear su stantial
footwear and long trousers. Do not operate
the equipment when arefoot or wearing
open sandals.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
A) TRAINING
1) Read the instructions carefully. Be familiar
with the controls and the proper use of the
equipment. Learn how to stop the engine
quickly.
2) Only use the Slope Mower for the purpose for
which it was made, that is, the cutting of
grass.
Any use not specifically indicated in
the instruction hand ook can e dangerous
and result in damage to the mac
hine, and will
also result in the annulling of the warranty and
the manufacturer declining all responsi ility.
3) Ne
ver allow children or people unfamiliar with
these instructions to use Slope Mower. Local
regulations may restrict the age of the
operator.

Do not operate on slopes of more than
22°(40%) in asic configuration.
Thi
s machine will operate on more than
22°slopes. This is in conjunction with operator
training, correct weight, correct maintenance
of the machine and appropriate conditions.
6) Remem er there is no such thing as a “safe”
slope.
Travel on grass slopes requires particular
care. To guard against overturning:
- Do not stop or start suddenly when going
up
or downhill;
- Always keep the machine in gear,
especially
when traveling downhill;
- Machine speeds should e kept low on
slopes and during tight turns;
- Stay alert for humps and hollows and other
hidden hazards;
- Never mow across the face of the slope.
7) Stop the lades rotating efore crossing
surfaces other than grass. When moving the
Mower away from the lawn disengage
the
lades and put the mower deck into the
highest position.
8) Do not change the engine governor settings
or overspeed the engine. Operating the
engine at excessive speed can increase the
hazard of personal injury.
9) Before leaving the operator’s position:
- Disengage the lades and lower the
Mower-deck.
- Shift into neutral and set the parking rake.
- Stop the engine and remove the key.
10) Disengage lades, stop the engine and
remove key:
- Before carrying out any work eneath the
cutting deck or unclogging the chute;

Thoroughly inspect the area where the
equipment is to e used and remove all o jects
which may e thrown y the machine (stones,
sticks, metal wire, ones, etc.)
3) WARNING: Engine fuel is highly flamma le:
-
Store fuel in containers specifically designed for
this purpose.
-
Refuel using a funnel and outdoors only. Do
not smoke while refuelling or whenever
handling the fuel.
-
Add fuel efore starting the engine. Never
remove the cap of the fuel tank or
add fuel
while the engine is running or when the engine
is hot.
- If fuel is spilled, do not attempt to start the
engine ut move the machine away from
the
area of spillage and avoid creating any
source
of ignition until the fuel has evaporated and th
e
fumes dispersed.
-
Tighten caps of all fuel tanks and containers
securely.
4) Replace faulty silencers.
5)
Use the step plates when getting on and off the
machine to prevent falls. Keep steps and
platform clear from mud and de ris.
6)
Always check overhead clearance, especially
when transporting this machine.
C) OPERATION
1) Do not operate the engine in a confined
space
where dangerous car on monoxide
fumes can
collect.
2) Mow only in daylight or good artificial light.
3) Avoid operating the equipment in wet grass,
where feasi le.
4) Before starting the engine, disengage the
lades, shift into neutral and engage the
parking rake.

19) Keep the machine in the
same travel speed
when going downhill as used when going
uphill. Do not coast or free wheel down hills.

Watch where you are going especially at row
ends, on roads, around trees and low hanging
o stacles.
21)
Do not cross gravel roads with the PTO
engaged.
22) Look to the rear efore and when reversing.
You must disengage lades efore shifting
into reverse. Before reversing make sure the
area ehind you is clear of o structions, holes
and small children. Use extra caution when
machine is equipped with a grass catcher.
23)
Do not tow this machine. Use are suita le
truck or trailer when transporting on pu lic
roads.
24)
Before mounting or operating the mower
deck ,read and understand the mower deck
manual.
D) MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
1) Keep all nuts, olts and screws tight to e
sure the equipment is in safe working
condition. Regular maintenance is essential
for safety and for maintaining performance
levels.
2) Never store the equipment with fuel in the
tank inside a uilding where fumes may re
ach
a flame or a spark or a source of
extreme
heat.
3) Allow the engine to cool efore storing in an
enclosed space.
4) To reduce the fire hazard, keep the engine,
exhaust silencer, attery compartment and
fuel storage area free of grass, leaves, or
exce
ssive grease. Always empty the
grass-
catcher and do not leave garden
ru ish containers within a room.
- Before checking, cleaning or
working on the
Slope Mower;
-
After striking a foreign o ject. Inspect the Slope
Mower for damage and make repairs
efore
restarting and operating the Slope Mower;
-
If the Slope Mower starts to vi rate a normally
(immediately check and remove the cause of
the vi ration)
11)
Disengage drive to lades when transporting or
not in use. Disengage the lades and wait for
them to stop efore emptying the grasscatcher.
12) Stop the engine and disengage lades:
- Before refuelling.
- Every time the grass-catcher is removed
or
replaced.
- Before making height adjustment.
13) Reduce the throttle setting during engine shut
down and turn the fuel off at the
conclusion of
mowing, following the
instructions in the
hand ook.
14) Do not put hands or feet near or under
rotating
parts. Keep clear of the discharge
opening at all
times.
15) Watch out for traffic when crossing or near
roadways.
16) When using any attachments, never direct
discharge of material toward ystanders nor
allow anyone near the machine while in
operation.
17) Do not park this machine on a steep incline.
18) Do not wear loose clothing when operating the
power take-off, or when close to
rotating
equipment.

5) Check the deflector and grass-catcher
frequently for wear and deterioration.
6) For reasons of safety, do not use the
equipment
with worn or damaged parts.
Parts are to e replaced and not repaired.
Use genuine spare parts. Parts which are not
of
an equivalent quality can damage the
equipment and could
e dangerous for your
safety.
7) If the fuel tank has to e drained, this should
e
done outdoors and when the engine is cool.
8) Wear strong work gloves when removing and
reassem ling the lades.
9) Check the lades’ alance after sharpening.
10) Take care as the rotation of one lade can
cause the other lade to turn.
11) When the machine is to e parked, stored
or left
unattended, lower the mower deck.
12) The ignition key must never e left inserted
in
the machine, or where children or
persons not
familiar to the machine may reach them.
Before any maintenance or repair, remove
the
ignition key.
13) Conduct operation and inspec
tion during
daytime or under right lighting.
14) Stop engine efore servicing ,adjusting ,
repairing this machine.
15) Do not work under a raised attachment unle
ss it
is securely supported y a suita le hoist or floor
jack and multiple jack stands.
16)
When you work under the machine, support it
firmly with such a crane, hoist or rigid racks on a
level place. If not It may cause severe
accidents.
17)
Never perform service underneath the
machine if it is not completely sta le.
18) Be careful of Hot Oil Under High pressure.
The
hydraulic system for the implement
operates under high pressure. When
replenishing or draining hydraulic oil, e sure
to first relieve the high pressure.
19) Be sure to disconnect the (-)
terminal of
attery efore servicing. If not short circuit
may cause a fire.
20) HANDLING BATTERY ELECTROLYTE
-
The attery electrolyte is diluted sulfuric acid
and poisonous. Top up attery electrolyte in
well ventilated area and wear eye protection
and ru er gloves. Splashed solution can
cause urning skin, clot
hes and lindness if it
get into eyes.
21)
Do not modify or alter or permit anyone else
to modify or alter this machine or any of its
components and functions without first
consulting SHIBAURA’s Dealer.
E) TRANSPORTING
The method of loading & un-
loading on the
truck Please do the loading and unloading work
on the flat & safety place.
1) Loading on the truck
-
Stop the truck engine and set the parking
rake.
-
Put the hook of the ramps on the truck floor
firmly so that the ramps will not come off.
-
Load the tractor vehicle into truck slowly y
moving the vehicle forward. (* in case that the
implement of installation is mower deck)
-
Load the tractor vehicle into truck y moving
the vehicle forward on the ramps.

- After the completion of loading, lower
the
implement
. Then, stop the tractor engine and
set the parking rake (for tractor).
- Fix the tractor vehicle with a strong rope.
2) Unloading on the truck

Please do the unloading work under the
opposite procedure of loading

- Set the parking rake for truck.

Remove the mud from the tractor tires in order
to prevent vehicle from slippi
ng sideways on
the
ramps. There is a possi le risk of fall of
vehicle due to accidental movement of ramps
during loading work.

Put the hook of the ramps on the truck floor
firmly. There is a possi le risk of fall of the
vehicle due to accidental movement of the
ramps during loading work.

Keep the even height etween right and left
ramps. There is a possi le risk of fall of the
vehicle due to accidental movement of the
ramps during loading work.
- Do not steer sharply on the ramps.

- Pay attention to loading & un-
loading in order
not to loose the vehicle's alance when moving
the vehicle on the gap (seam) etween the
ramps and truck floor.
Keep those works at slo
w speed. There is a
possi le risk of fall of the vehicle.

Fix the vehicle tire & umper and draw ar hitch
with a strong rope firmly. There is a possi le
risk of accidental movement of cargo during
transportation.
-
In case of using sunshades cover etc, please
fix it with the ropes etc firmly. There is a
possi le risk of deformation or
part detach or
fall on the vehicle part, which tends to e
affected y wind pressure.
-
Do the loading work slowly y moving the
vehicle forward. If loading work is done y
moving the vehicle ackward, the vehicle's
rear tire tends to float and as a resul
t, there is
a possi le risk of fall of vehicle However, in
case that the rear visi ility is not good due to
the rear installation implement, please do the
loading y moving the vehicle ackward,
considering the possi le any difficulties and
fall of vehicle on the unloading.
- Assur
e that the height of the cargo will not e
pro lem at the height restriction area to avoid
danger to other traffic.

- Follow the guidelines of the gove

agency for the proper disposal of hazardous
materials such as engine oil, diesel fuel,
engine coolant and, machine fluid, grease.

on the ground, or into ground water
or
waterways.

Failure to follow these procedures may
seriously harm the environment.

Comply with legal regulations and guidelines
for disposal of empty containers for fuel,
cooling water (coolant),oil, grease; fuel/oil
filters; atteries; machine
itself; machine
accessories; and packaging materials.

Seat Belt
● When driving the
vehicle, always fasten the
seat belt.
● Fasten the seat belt extending over the hips.
If the seat belt is not applied, death or serious
injury ay be caused in the event of roll over,
tu bling, rear end collision or other
accidents.
ROLL OVER
PROTECTIVE STRUCTURE
(ROPS)
Roll Over Protective Structure (ROPS) and
seat belts are standard equip ent.
● DO NOT re ove a ROPS and seat belts.
ROPS when used with seat belts is effective in
reducing
injuries during unit overturn
accidents.
●
Over turning the unit without a ROPS can
result in serious injury or death.
● ROPS is used to reduce da ages of acc
idents
in the event of roll over of the vehicle
and not
to prevent the roll over.
●
Do not drive the vehicle with the safety fra e
re oved.
●
Do not odify the safety fra e. If odified, it
does not function as a safety fra e.
● If ROPS
is da aged or bent so that its strength
is influenced, replace the safety fra e.
If it is repaired, it ay not function as ROPS.

While the achine is not in service, be sure
to pull ou
t the key and store it in a safe
storage place.
If not, so e accident ay be caused.
The key is used to start the engine.
[HEAT]
If you release your hand fro the
key at the position to preheat the co bustion
cha ber, the key will auto atically return to
the “OFF” position.
[OFF]
Engine stops at this position and
the key ay be inserted or re oved.
[ON]
Key stays at this position while the
engine is running.
[START]
Position to start the engine.
When you release your hand fro the key, it
auto atically returns to the “ON” position.
The vehicle is equipped with 4 safety switches
to start the engine safely.
The safety switch functions to start the engine
only when the following 4 conditions are et:。
1. Operator takes is seated.
2. He presses the brake pedal.
3. He turns OFF the PTO clutch.
4.
He releases his foot fro the running
pedal.
Caution
When the ain switch
is turned to the “ON”
position, the la p
lights up. After
the
engine starts, nu ber
of engine revolutions
increases. When
charging is started, the
la p goes out.
Even though the ain
switch is turned to
the
“ON”
position, the
la p does not light up.
The la p lights up if
the engine is
overheated during
operation. In such a
case, stop the
operation and check
the cause.

• Engine rev. counter / elapsed ti e integrator
While the engine is running, its nu ber of
revolutions is indicated by the pointer. The
elapsed ti e integrator indicates the ti e by a
nu ber for which the achine was operated.
By ultiplying the white nu ber on the right
by 6, ti e in the inute unit is obtained.

③ Accelerator lever
The accelerator lever is used to increase or
decrease the engine revolutions.
By pulling the lever toward the operator, the
engine revolutions decrease and by pushing it
forward, the engine revolutions increase.

Te perature of cooling water is indicated by a
pointer during operation.
When the pointer points to
the “H” position,
engine ay be overheated. Stop operation
even when the engine water te perature
eter la p does not light up and check for
the
cause.
When the ain switch
is turned to the “ON”
position, the la p
lights up.
When the engine
starts operation, the
la p goes out. If the
la p lights up while
the engine is rotating,
there is a fault in the
lubrication pressure
circuit.
Stop the engine
i ediately and check
for the trouble.
By setting the ain
switch to the “Glow”
position, the la p
lights up indicating that
the power is supplied
to the heater. Keep the
switch at the “Glow”
position for about 5
seconds and then turn
it to the “START”
position to start the
engine.
