Introduction and Specifications
About The ShoreGear Dual Tray
The ShoreGear Dual Tray allows mounting of one or two ShoreGear half-width voice
switches in a single 1U 19-inch rack position or on a wall. The contents of the ShoreGear
Dual Tray package contains the parts required to mount two half-width switches into a
19-inch rack.
Mounting half-width switches on a wall requires the installation of two wall mount
brackets onto the Dual Tray. The ShoreGear Dual Tray Wall Mount Kit provides additional
equipment and instructions required to mount the switches on a wall.
The ShoreGear Dual Tray Package Contains:
ShoreGear Dual Tray
Two center mounting ears
Two outer mounting ears
Two M3.5 screws for attaching mounting ears to the Dual Tray outer frame
Two M3 screws for attaching the mounting ears to the Dual Tray center post
Eight M3 screws for attaching mounting ears to a ShoreGear voice switch
(screws for attaching mounting ears to switch are also included with the switch)

Installation Equipment
To install the switch, you need the following equipment:
#1 Phillips screwdriver

Installing the ShoreGear Dual Tray in a 19-inch Rack
Position the ShoreGear Dual
Tray at the desired position in
the rack.
1.
Secure the Dual Tray to the rack
using four rack mount screws.
Rack mount screws are not
provided in the ShoreGear Dual
Tray package.
2.
Installing a ShoreGear Voice Switch into the Dual Tray
After placing the Dual Tray in the rack and attaching the Mounting Ears to a voice
switch, you can install the Voice Switch into the Dual Tray.
Remove four M3 screws from the voice
switch.
The screws – two from each side panel
– are located near the front panel of the
switch.

Installation Location Requirements
To ensure optimum operating conditions for the switches that will be installed in the
ShoreGear Dual Tray, verify the operating environment is adequately ventilated, free of
gas or airborne particles, and isolated from electrical noise.
Determine the Mounting Ear installation
orientation.
Mounting Ear orientation depends on the side
of the tray where the switch will be placed.
2.
Attach the Mounting Ears to the sides of the voice switch,
using the four screws removed from the switch in Step 1.
3.
Place the switch in the side of the
tray for which the mounting ears
were attached.
1.
Slide the switch into the tray until it is
captured by the lip at the back of the tray.
2.
Insert an M3.5 screw through the outer
Mounting Ear and into an outer post of
the Dual Tray.
Insert an M3 screw through the inner
Mounting Ear and into the center post of
the Dual Tray.

Rack Mount Cautions
Temperature: The operating ambient temperature of the closed or multi-unit rack
environment may be greater than room ambient temperature. When installed in a
rack, the ambient temperature of the Dual Tray must remain lower than the maximum
operating ambient rating of the ShoreGear Voice Switches – typically 50° C.
Air Flow: Verify that the Dual Tray has adequate airflow when installed in a rack.
Power circuit loading: Use the equipment nameplate rating to calculate the maximum
number of units on each branch circuit. Branch circuit loading is limited to 80% of the
branch rating. For example, if the nameplate rating is 1 Amp, no more than 12 units
can be connected to a 15 Amp branch circuit.
Reliable Grounding: Reliable grounding of rack-mounted equipment must be
maintained. Pay specific attention to supply connections other than direct connections
to the branch circuit (e.g. power strips).

Installationsumgebung
Um optimale Betriebsbedingungen für die im ShoreGear Dual Tray installierten Geräte
zu gewährleisten, müssen Sie sicherstellen, dass die Installationsumgebung ausreichend
belüftet, frei von schwebenden oder Gaspartikeln und von elektrischen Störfeldern frei ist.

Vorsichtsmaßnahmen bei Rackmontage
Temperatur: Die Betriebstemperatur der geschlossenen oder Multi-Rack-Umgebung
kann höher als die Raumtemperatur sein. Bei Installation in einem Rack muss
die Umgebungstemperatur des Dual Tray jedoch unter der maximal zugelassenen
Betriebstemperatur für ShoreGear Voice-Schaltgeräte liegen, die typischerweise 50° C
beträgt.
Luftstrom: Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Dual Tray bei Installation in einem Rack ausreichend
belüftet ist.
Stromkreisbelastung: Verwenden Sie die nominelle Belastung, um die maximale Anzahl
von Geräten in einem lokalen Stromkreis zu ermitteln. Die Gesamtbelastung eines lokalen
Stromkreises darf nicht mehr als 80% der summierten Nominalbelastungen betragen.
Beispiel: Wenn die Nominalbelastung 1 Amp beträgt, dürfen Sie höchstens 12 Geräte an
einen 15 Amp-Stromkreis anschließen.
Zuverlässige Erdung: Die zuverlässige Erdung rackmontierter Geräte muss gewährleistet
werden. Achten Sie dabei besonders auf Verbindungen außerhalb der direkten Versorgung
des Stromkreises (z. B. Steckdosenleisten).
ShoreGear Dual Tray in einem 19-Zoll-Rack installieren
Platzieren Sie den ShoreGear Dual Tray an der
gewünschten Position im Rack.
1.
Befestigen Sie den Dual Tray mit vier
Rackmontageschrauben am Rack.
Rackmontageschrauben sind nicht im ShoreGear
Dual Tray-Paket enthalten.
2.
Entfernen Sie die vier M3-Schrauben aus dem Gerät.
Die Schrauben (zwei auf jeder Seitenplatte) befinden
sich in der Nähe der Gerätvorderplatte.

Montageösen an einem ShoreGear-Gerät installieren
Ermitteln Sie die korrekte Ausrichtung der
Montageösen.
Diese hängt davon ab, auf welcher Seite des Trays
das Gerät installiert wird.
2.
Befestigen Sie die Montageösen an den Seiten des Voice-Geräts. Verwenden
Sie dazu die vier Schrauben, die Sie in Schritt 1 herausgedreht haben.

ShoreGear-Gerät im Dual Tray installieren
Nachdem Sie den Dual Tray im Rack installiert und die Montageösen am Voice-Gerät
befestigt haben, können Sie das Gerät im Rack montieren.
Platzieren Sie das Gerät an der Seite des Trays, für die
Sie Montageösen angebracht haben.
1.
Schieben Sie das Gerät in den Tray ein, bis es an der
Rückseite des Trays einrastet.
2.
Drehen Sie eine M3,5-Schraube durch die äußere
Montageöse in den äußeren Ständer des Dual Tray ein.
Drehen Sie eine M3-Schraube durch die innere
Montageöse in den inneren Ständer des Dual Tray ein.
