SAFETY PRECAUTION
WARNING:
Service should not be attempted by anyone unfamiliar with the necessary precaution on thisreceiver. The
following are the necessary precautions to be observed before servicing this chassis.
1. Since the power supply circuit of this receiver is undirectly connected to the AC power line, an AC adapter
should be used during any dynamic service to avoid possible shock hazard.
2. When replacing a chassis in the cabinet, always be certain that all the protective devices are put back in
place, such as: non-metallic control knobs, insulating covers, shields, isolation resistor-capacitor
network etc.
3. When replacing parts or circuit boards, disconnect the power cord.
4. When replacing a high wattage resistor (oxide metal film resistor) on the circuit board, keep the resistor
10mm (1/2in) away from circuit board.
5. Connection wires must be kept away from components with high voltage or high temperature.
6. If any fuse in this TV receiver is blown, replace it with the FUSE specified in the chassis parts list.
PRODUCT SAFETY NOTICE

FACTORY MODE ADJUSTMENT
FACTORY MODE adjustment is a special adjustment which is controlled by I2C BUS. The TV set has been set
at optimum mode at the factory. Except for special request, such as updating software、replacing PANEL、
MEMORY、IC etc., it is hoped not to be adjusted after produced. To conduct FACTORY MODE's adjustment,
please do it according to the following steps:
1) Press the MUTE button and the number button[2、6、6、0、7、1] on the remote controller to enter into factory
menu，adjust display，cal. ，stv2248 or other menu。You can use navigation key to access them。
2) In display menu, display the basic characteristic parameter such as panel resolution、mode table、power on
time、backlight on time、software version number etc.
3) In cal. menu, display the basic characteristic parameter such as external comb filter、video format、
colorspace、test pattern etc. Except for special need, reset nvram item and right to OK set item are hoped not
to be adjusted.
4) In stv2248 menu, select the item you want to adjust by pressing the button “ CH+” or “CH-” and use the
"VOL+" or "VOL-" button to adjust。In this menu, you can adjust the white balance、picture modes value、
SCART Audio out value and volume middle value。And the contrast value、AGC value and the important
value vcofine、vcocoa are in the sub menu 2248 adjust。
5）In OTHER menu, select the item you want to adjust by pressing the button “ CH+”or “CH-”such as
sharpness adjust、Volume Max and Volume Min value and use the "VOL+" or "VOL-" button to adjust。
6) Press "MENU" button on the remote controller to exit the FACTORY MODE。

HOW TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE
The software of LCDTV stored in a 8M bit FLASH memory IC，so it can be updated when
needed。Sometimes we have to update the software of LCDTV to solve some problems and only
the authorized people can do the updating job。
When updating the software, we need following instruments，
A computer running windows NT /windows 2000/windows xp，a debug board，a serial cord
with D-sub 9 pin terminals in both sides(NOT SUPPLIED) 。
Following these steps:
1．Power off the LCDTV, pull down the power cord.
2．Remove the stand and back-cover, dismount the steel shield-cover
3．Connect the computer—serial cord—debug board—LCDTV(connector XP109 in main
board)
4．Running the update program (tool) in computer to load the new software
5．Plug in the power cord of LCDTV, the software will be automatically wrote into
the FLASH IC after 3 minutes
Cautions：The updating work will erase all the parameter such as white balance value、
vco value etc.。So before you update the software, you must enter the factory mode
and to write down the vco values and white balance values。When you finish the
updating work, you must restore those values to right position。
If not, the LCDTV will not memory channel and the picture will be bad and not in
right colour。

Trouble shootings
1. Sometimes the TV can not memory the channels when doing the automatic searching. One
reason of this problem is that the VCO value is incorrect. So the following steps will guide
you to calibrate the VCO value.
(a) Connect a signal cable to the tuner, switch on the TV, change source to TV mode, if you
can see a program, then you can directly jump to step.e. If not, go to step.b
(b) Entering the factory mode(use the user remote control, sequent pressing “MUTE” “2”

“6” “6” “0” “7” “1” can enter the factory mode ), choosing “STV2248” then “2248
adjust”.
(c) Choose “2248 vcofine”, set the value to 60; choose “2248 vcocoa”, set the value to 11,
press “MENU” button on the remote control to exit the factory menu.
(d) Do the normal automatic searching, if can not store any channel, please jump back to
step.b, and set the “2248 vcofine” “2248 vcocoa” to other value, maybe you need to try
many times and can get the correct value to make the channels can be stored. If TV can
store channel, go to step.e
(e) At the channel that you can see picture and hear sound, use the fine tune function of the
TV, adjust the picture and sound are in the best position
(f) Keep current channel number, entering the factory menu again, choosing “STV2248”
then “2248 adjust”, select the “2248 auto vco” item, press right-narrow button to make it
work, waiting for a while(less than one minute), there will be a “”OK” on the bottom of
the TV screen, and at that time the “2248 vcofine” “2248 vcocoa” value will be
automatically calibrated. Press “MENU” to exit the factory menu
(g) Do the automatic searching again, if all the channels can be stored at the right position
and the picture and sound ar good, it means the VCO calibration is finished. If not, jump
to step.e and do the calibration again.
Pleased be noted that without the factory signal and professional devices, the VCO
adjustment is not so easy to do, maybe you need to do it several times and the adjust the
value to good position.
