•録り直しのきかない録音の場合は、必ず事前にためし録りをしてくださ
い。
•マイクロカセットコーダーの不具合により録音されなかった場合の録音
内容の補償については、ご容赦ください。
•カセットテープはyの表示があるものをご使用ください。
この表示のないテープは、このマイクロカセットコーダーでは使用でき
ない場合があります。(A)
主な特長
•電池の消耗を2段階で知らせるBATT (電池残量）ランプと電池の交換時
期を知らせるi(電池交換)ランプ。
•録音内容ごとに信号音を入れておくことにより、キュー／レビュー時に
頭出しができる、CUE MARKER (キューマーカー)機能。
•再生の速度を普通の速度より速め、効率良く聞き返すのに便利な、
FAST PB (ファーストプレイバック)(速聞き再生)機能。
•一定の強さ以上の音声を検知して自動的に録音が始まり、それ以下の音
声になるとテープが止まるVOR（自動音声録音スタート）機能。
•再生モードから直接録音モードにできる後追い録音機能。
•TAPE COUNTER (テープカウンター )
•再生・録音時にテープの終わりで自動的に動作が止まる、オートシャッ
トオフ機能。
•停止ボタンを押すと一時停止も解除される、ストップポーズリリース機
能。解除を忘れて録音チャンスを逃してしまう失敗を減らします。

当社ではマイクロカセットコーダーの補修用性能部品 (製品の機能を維持するために
必要な部品)を、製造打ち切り後最低6年間保有しています。この部品保有期間を修理
可能な期間とさせていただきます。保有期間が経過した後も、故障箇所によっては修
理可能の場合がありますので、お買い上げ店またはサービス窓口にご相談ください。
なお、補修用性能部品の保有期間は通商産業省の指導にもよるものです。

っています。はずれた場合は図のようにふたを少しまげて取り付けてくだ

ご注意
•新しい乾電池と使用した乾電池、または種類の違う乾電池を混ぜて使用し
ないでください。
•電池の‘、’に気をつけてください。メーカーによっては区別がつきにく
いことがあります。

くと電池が急激に消耗するので必ずwp (取り出し／停止)ボタンを押し
てください。
** テープは)REVIEW (レビュー)時のほうがCUE0(キュー)時よりも
速く巻き取られます。
ご注意
再生中に巻き戻し（レビュー）をしてテープの始めまで巻き取られた時、指
を離してもキュー（早送り）／0•)／レビュー（巻き戻し）つまみが中央
に戻らないことがあります。このような場合は、つまみを中央に戻すと再生
が始まります。

テープを速聞きするには（ファーストプレイバック）
FAST PB (ファーストプレイバック)スイッチを矢印の方向にずらしま
す。元の速度に戻すには矢印の反対方向にずらします。効率良く聞き返し
たいときに便利です。
いろいろな録音のしかた E
TAPE COUNTER (テープカウンター)を使う
録音を始める前に、TAPE COUNTER (テープカウンター ) のリセットボ
タンを押して「000」にします。録音の頭を探すのに便利です。

2.4cm： 通常の録音をするとき
「1.2 cm」のときより良い音で録音できます。
1.2cm： テープを2倍の長さに使って録音するとき
（MC-60を使うと往復120分の録音ができます。）
ご注意
•再生は録音と同じテープスピードで行ってください。他のマイクロカセットレコー
ダーで再生する可能性のある場合は、なるべく2.4cm/sの速さで録音してくださ
い。1.2cm/sの速さで録音したテープを、他のマイクロカセットレコーダーで再生
すると、再生音が異なる場合があります。
音がしたとき自動的に録音を始める（ＶＯＲ機能）
VORスイッチを「H(
高)」または「L( 低)」に切り換えておきます。
rボタンを押すと、ある大きさ以上の音をマイクが拾うと自動的に録音が
始まり、音が小さくなると止まります。録音の途中でテープを止める手間
がはぶけるので口述録音するときに便利です。また、空録音の部分がなく
なり、テープが有効に使えます。

ご注意
•VOR機能は周囲の環境に左右されます。状況に合わせてVORスイッチを「H(
高)」
または「L(
低)」にしてください。VORスイッチを操作しても思い通りに録音できな
いときは、VORスイッチを「OFF (切)」にしてください。
• 音を感じてから録音が始まるので、言葉の初めの部分は録音されないことがありま
す。大切な録音のときは、VORスイッチを「OFF (切)」にしてください。
録音中の音を聞くには
イヤホンをEAR (イヤホン)ジャックにつなぎます。
聞こえる音量は一定でVOL (音量)つまみで調節することはできませ
ん。
後追い録音をする
再生中にr(録音)ボタンを押すと、そこから録音状態になります。録音
したものの一部分を修正したいときなどに便利です。

録音したものをすぐに聞く（ワンタッチレビュー）
録音中にCUE (早送り)/0•)/REVIEW (巻戻し)つまみを)/
REVIEW (巻戻し)の方向にずらすとテープが巻き戻され、手を離すとそこ
から再生が始まります。
キューマーカーを録音するには
録音中にCUE MARKER (キューマーカー)ボタンを押すことによって、
目印としての信号を録音することができます。
CUE MARKER (キューマーカー)ボタンを押すと、REC (録音)ランプが
消灯して、信号がテープに録音されます。さらに長い信号を録音したい場
合は、ボタンを押し続けてください。
再生状態で早送りをしたり（CUE）、巻き戻したり（REVIEW）すると、信
号が録音されているところで音（プー）がして知らせます。また、再生中も
低い音（プー）ガ聞こえます。
ご注意
•キューマーカーは音声のとぎれたところでお使いください。
•キューマーカーの信号音はキュー時とレビュー時では音質が違います。
•キューマーカーの信号音は、テープの最初と最後では巻き取られる速度が異なるた
め、テープの箇所によって音質が違います。
テープが終わりまでくると（オートシャットオフ機構）
録音または再生状態でテープが終わりまで巻き取られると、押し込まれて
いたボタンは自動的に元に戻ります。
早送り、巻き戻しをしたときはCUE (早送り)/0•)/REVIEW (巻戻し)
つまみを中央に戻してください。
他の機器と接続して録音／再生する
ご注意
•接続コード類のプラグはしっかり差し込んでください。
•下の例はソニー製品の場合です。他社製品との接続がうまくいかないときは、その
製品の説明書をご覧ください。
他のテープレコーダーから録音するG-a
本機を録音状態にして、接続したモノラルテープレコーダーを再生状態に
します。
VORスイッチを「OFF (切)」にします。
他のテープレコーダーへ録音するG-b
本機を再生状態にして、接続したモノラルテープレコーダーを録音状態に
します。
外部マイク（別売り）から録音するG-c
外部マイクを本機のMIC (マイク)ジャックにしっかりとつなぎます。プラ
グインパワー方式のエレクトレットコンデンサーマイクロホンをつなぐ
と、本機から電源が供給されます。

大切な録音を守るには F
カセットのツメを折ると録音状態にできなくなるので、録音した音声を誤
って消してしまうミスが防げます。ツメを折っても穴をふさぐと再び録音
できます。図に示された部分以外にはテープを貼らないでください。

ご注意
録音について
•カセットテープはyの表示があるものをご使用ください。
•録音中、マイクを電灯線や蛍光灯に近づけすぎると、ノイズが入ることがありま
す。
乾電池について
乾電池の使いかたを誤ると、液もれや破裂のおそれがあります。次のことは必ずお守
りください。
•‘と’の向きを正しく入れてください。
•乾電池は充電できません。
•長い間使わないときは、取り出しておいてください。
•液もれが起こったときは、液をよくふきとってから新しい乾電池を入れてくださ
い。
•持ち運ぶときはキーホルダーなどの金属類と一緒にポケットに入れないでくださ
い。乾電池の‘’が金属とつながるとショートし、発熱して危険です。
•別売りのACパワーアダプターやカーバッテリーコードをDC IN 3Vジャックにつな
いでいると、乾電池ではお使いになれません。
環境汚染の軽減と経済性を考えて
本機は、乾電池の他に
− 別売りのニカド充電式電池NC-AA-2B (別売りのバッテリーチャージャー
BC-30K2にて充電可能）
− 別売りのAC パワーアダプターAC-E30M（日本国内用）、またはAC-
E30HG（海外用）
でもお使いになれます。
取り扱いについて
•落としたり、強いショックを与えたりしないでください。故障の原因になります。
•次のような場所には置かないでください。
ー温度が非常に高いところ (60℃以上)。
ー直射日光のあたる場所や暖房器具の近く。
ー窓を閉めきった自動車内 (特に夏季)。
ー風呂場など湿気の多いところ。
ー磁石、スピーカー、テレビなど磁気を帯びたものの近く。
ーほこりの多いところ。
•長い間使わなかったときは、再びお使いになる前に、数分間再生状態にして空回し
をしてください。良い状態でお使いいただけます。
キャッシュカードや定期券など、磁気を利用したカード類をスピーカーに近づける
と、マグネットの影響で磁気が変化してカードが使えなくなることがありますので、
ご注意ください。
万一故障した場合は、内部を開けずにお買い上げ店またはソニーサービス窓口にご相
談ください。
お手入れ I
よい音でテープを聞くために
10時間程度使ったら、9(再生)ボタンを押し込んだあとに、別売りのク
リーニングキット (KK-41) でヘッド、キャプスタン、ピンチローラーをき
れいにしてください。
本体表面が汚れたときは
水気を含ませた柔らかい布で軽くふいたあと、からぶきします。シンナーや
ベンジン、アルコール類は表面の仕上げを傷めますので使わないでくださ
い。

乾電池は持続時間の長いアルカリ乾電池をおすすめします。
乾電池を交換する時期H
再生／録音時の乾電池の残量はBATT (電池残量)ランプでお知らせしま
す。
電池が消耗すると、テープ走行が不安定になったり雑音が多くなったりし
ます。再生／録音中にi(電池交換)ランプが点滅したら、乾電池を2本と
も新しいものと交換してください。
ご注意
•i(電池交換)ランプが点滅し始めても、しばらくはテープが動きますが、正常な音
で再生できなくなり、録音時には、雑音が録音されたり、録音される音が小さくな
りますので、必ず乾電池を交換してください。
•次のような場合には電池を交換する必要はありません。
− 再生中に音量を上げたときなどにi(電池交換)ランプが音に応じて一時的にち
らついた場合。
− テープの動きはじめやテープの終わりで、i(電池交換)ランプが瞬間的に点灯
した場合。
− 早送り（CUE）／巻き戻し（REVIEW）中にi(電池交換)ランプが点滅した場
合。
•別売りの充電式電池でお使いの場合、充電してあってもBATT (電池残量)ランプが1
つしか点灯しないことがあります。
コンセントにつないで使う
1別売りのACパワーアダプターAC-E30M（日本国内用）、またはAC-
E30HG（海外用）を本体のDC IN 3Vジャックにつなぎます。
2ACパワーアダプターをコンセントにつなぎます。
ご注意
この製品には、別売りのACパワーアダプターAC-E30M
またはAC-E30HG（別売り)（極性統一形プラグ・EIAJ規
格)をご使用ください。上記以外のACパワーアダプターを
使用すると、故障の原因になることがあります。

zGetting Started
Preparing a Power Source
Choose one of the following power sources.
Dry Batteries B-a
Make sure that nothing is connected to the DC IN 3V jack.
1Open the battery compartment lid.
2Insert two size AA (R6) batteries (supplied) with correct
polarity and close the lid.
To take out the batteries B-b
To attach the battery compartment lid if it is accidentally
detached B-c

We recommend to use long-life alkaline batteries.
Notes
• Do not charge a dry battery.
• Do not use a new battery with an old one.
• Do not use different types of batteries.
• When you do not use the unit for a long time, remove the batteries to avoid any
damage caused by battery leakage and subsequent corrosion.
• Dry batteries will not be expended when another power source is connected.
When to replace the batteries H
Replace the batteries with new ones when the BATT (battery) lamps go off
and the ilamp flashes.
The BATT lamps change as illustrated.
Notes
• The unit will play back normally for a while, even after the ilamp flashes.
However, replace the batteries as soon as you can. If you do not, the playback cannot
be made with normal sound, noise may be recorded and the recorded sound will not
be loud enough.
• In the following cases you do not need to replace the batteries:
– if the BATT lamps flash with the playback sound when you turn up the volume.
– if the ilmap lights momentarily when the tape starts running or at the end of
the tape.
– if the ilamp flashes during FF (CUE/0) or REW ()/REVIEW).
• In some cases when the unit is used with rechargeable batteries (not supplied), only
one BATT lamp will light even though the batteries have been fully charged.
House Current
Connect the AC power adaptor to DC IN 3V and to
the wall outlet. Use the AC-E30M (in Japan) or AC

zOperating the Unit
Recording
You can record the sound easily with the built-in microphone.
1Press wp (eject/stop) to open the cassette compartment lid.
2Take out any slack in the tape and insert the cassette with the
side to start recording facing the lid. C-a
3Close the cassette compartment lid.
4Set VOR to L , H or OFF. For details, see “VOR (Voice Operated
Recording)”. C-b
5Select the desired tape speed. C-c
6Press r(record). C-dThe REC lamp lights.
Recording starts. The REC lamp flashes depending on the
strength of the sound.
To Press or slide
Stop recording wp (eject/stop)
Pause recording Slide CPAUSE in the direction of the arrow.
The REC and BATT (or i) lamps go off.
To resume recording, slide CPAUSE in the opposite
direction of the arrow.
Take out a cassette wp (eject/stop)
Note
Select the 2.4 cm tape speed for recording, if you play back the recorded tape with
another unit. Otherwise, the sound quality may be changed.
Playing a Tape
1Open the cassette compartment lid.

4Select the tape speed to the same speed as that used for

* If you leave the unit after the tape has been wound or rewound, the batteries will
be consumed rapidly. Be sure to depress wp (eject/stop).
** The tape moves faster in the )/REVIEW mode than in the )/CUE mode.
Note
If the tape is completely rewound while searching backward during playback
(REVIEW), the CUE/0•)/REVIEW switch may not return to the center position
when you release the switch. In this case, push back the switch to the center to start
playback.
To increase the playback speed
Slide the FAST PB switch in the direction of the arrow. The playback speed
will be increased.
To return to the original speed, slide the FAST PB switch to the original
position.
Using Various Functions E
Tape counter
Before recording, press the reset button of the TAPE COUNTER to return to
000. It is useful to find the beginning of the recording.
Tape speed
Select the desired tape speed using TAPE SPEED.
2.4 cm for optimum sound (recommended for normal use): A 60-minute
recording can be made using both sides of the MC-60 microcassette.
1.2 cm for longer recording time: a 120-minute recording can be made using
both sides of the MC-60 microcassette.
Note
• Play back a tape with the same tape speed as that used for recording. If you are
going to play back the recorded tape using another unit, select the 2.4 cm tape speed
for recording. Otherwise, the sound quality may be changed.
VOR (Voice Operated Recording)
Set VOR to L or H. Press r(record), and the unit automatically starts
recording the sound and pauses when there is no sound (you can save tapes
and batteries).
H: To record at meetings or in a quiet place.
L: To record for dictation or in a noisy place.
When you use this system in a noisy place the unit stays in the recording
mode. If the sound is too soft, on the contrary, the unit will not start
recording. Set VOR to L (low) or H (high) depending on the conditions.
When you do not use this function, set VOR to OFF.
Polarity of the plug

Notes
• The VOR system depends on the environment conditions. If you cannot get the
desired results, set VOR to OFF.
• When using the VOR system, the unit starts recording only when a sound is
detected, therefore, the beginning of the word may not be recorded. For an
important recording, we recommend setting VOR to OFF.
To monitor the sound
Connect an earphone (supplied) firmly to the EAR jack. The sound for
monitoring cannot be adjusted by VOL.
Start recording during playback
Press r (record) during playback, recording starts immediately. It is useful
when you want to re-record the portion which was just recorded.
Review the portion just recorded
Push up CUE/0•)/REVIEW toward )REVIEW during recording.
Release the button at the point to start playback.
Recording cue markers
While recording, you can record a special signal on the tape to mark a
specific position.
At the desired position, press CUE MARKER to record a signal. The REC
lamp goes off and a signal will be recorded on the tape. If you want to
record a signal longer than that, press CUE MARKER as long as you want.
During cue and review, you will hear the beep sound at the signal position.
During playback, you will hear the signal with low frequency sound at the
signal position.
Notes
• We recommend recording cue markers when there is a break in the sound.
• During cue and review, the beep sounds differently.
• The beep may sound differently depending on the marked position on the tape
because the winding speed varies from the beginning to the end of the tape.
At the end of the tape
In the recording or playback mode, the tape stops at the end of the tape and
the locked buttons will be released automatically (Automatic shut-off
mechanism).
After fast forward or rewind, be sure to set CUE/0•)/REVIEW back
to the center.
Recording/Playback with the Connected
Equipment
Notes
• When connecting cords, be sure you connect plugs firmly.
• The example uses Sony products. If you have any problem when using other
products, read the instruction manual of those products.
Recording from another tape recorder G-a
Set this unit to the recording mode and another tape recorder to the
playback mode. In this case set VOR to OFF.
Dubbing onto another tape recorder G-b
Set this unit to the playback mode and another tape recorder to the
recording mode.
Recording with an external microphone G-c
Connect a microphone to MIC. When using a plug-in-power system
microphone, the power to the microphone is supplied from this unit.
zAdditional Information
Precautions
On power
Operate the unit only on 3V DC. For AC operation, use the AC power
adaptor recommended for the unit. Do not use any other type. For battery
operation, use two size AA (R6) batteries.
On the unit
•Use only the y(standard microcassetes) with this unit. Non-
standard cassette cannot be used because the “L” dimension (see Fig. A)
is different.
To prevent a tape from being accidentally recorded over (see
Fig. F)
Break out and remove the cassette tabs. To reuse the tape for recording,
cover the tab hole with adhesive tape.
•Do not leave the unit in a location near heat sources, or in a place subject
to direct sunlight, excessive dust or mechanical shock.
•Should any solid object or liquid fall into the unit, remove the batteries or
disconnect the AC power adaptor, and have the unit checked by qualified
personnel before operating it any further.
•When you do not use the unit for long, remove the batteries to avoid
damage caused by battery leakage and subsequent corrosion.
•If the unit has not been used for a long time, set it in the playback mode
and warm it up for a few minutes before inserting a tape.
Keep personal credit cards using magnetic coding or spring-wound
watches etc. away from the unit to prevent possible damage from the
magnet used for the speaker.

Troubleshooting
Should any problem persist after you have made these checks, consult your
nearest Sony dealer.
You cannot insert the cassette.
mThe cassette is inserted front side back.
m9(play) is pressed.
You cannot close the cassette compartment lid.
mThe cassette is inserted into the wrong part (it should be inserted into the lid
side).
m9(play) is pressed.
Playback is not possible even if you press 9(play).
mThe tape has reached the end. Rewind the tape.
mThe batteries are weak. Replace both batteries with new ones.
You cannot press r (record) .
mThere is no cassette.
mThe tab on the tape has been removed. To reuse the tape for recording, cover
the tab hole with adhesive tape.
You cannot press r (record) and 9(play).
mThe tape has reached the end. Rewind the tape.
mAfter the atuomatic shut-off, CPAUSE is slid in the direction of the arrow.
Recording cannot be made.
mThe batteries are weak. Replace both batteries with new ones.
mThe head is contaminated.
mVOR has been set to the improper position when VOR function works.
Recording is interrupted.
mVOR is set to L or H. When you do not use VOR, set it to OFF.
Recording cannot be erased completely.
mThe head is contaminated.
During CUE0/)REVIEW the tape stops or does not run.
You cannot fast-forward or rewind.
mThe batteries are weak. Replace both batteries with new ones.
The unit does not operate.
mThe batteries have been inserted with incorrect polarity.
mThe batteries are weak. Replace both batteries with new ones.
mCPAUSE is slid in the direction of the arrow.
mThe AC power adaptor or car battery cord is not firmly connected.
mThe batteries have been inserted, but simultaneously the AC power adaptor is
connected and not to be done to the wall outlet.
No sound comes from the speaker.
mThe earphone is plugged in.
mThe volume is turned down completely.
The sound drops out, sound quality becomes worse or sound
has excessive noise.
mThe volume is turned down completely.
mThe batteries are weak. Replace both batteries with new ones.
mThe head is contaminated.
Tape speed is too fast or too slow in the playback mode.
mImproper setting of the TAPE SPEED switch. Set it to the same speed as that
used for recording.
Tape speed is faster than the normal playback speed.

Maintenance I
To clean the tape head and path
Press 9(play) and wipe the head 1, capstan 2and the pinch roller 3
with a cotton swab, moistened with alcohol every 10 hours of use.
To clean the exterior
Use a soft cloth slightly moistened in water. Do not use alcohol, benzine or
thinner.
