1 Introduction
1.1 System Description
The Acuros CQD® camera line touts high speed, triggerable, area array VIS-SWIR imaging (0.4-1.7
um wavelengths), ideal for industrial inspection, security and surveillance, and scientific
applications. The cameras are built around SWIR Vision Systems patented Colloidal Quantum Dot
(CQD®) sensors. Unlike the InGaAs industry standard, CQD sensors leverage highly scalable
monolithic semiconductor deposition techniques and result in the most affordable, highest
resolution SWIR camera line on the market.
The Acuros CQD cameras are supplied with a 12 V/2A power supply adaptor and cable with a 12
pin Hirose connector and integrated trigger cable. The analog output signal of the CQD sensor is
digitized with either 10 or 14 bits using an analog-to-digital converter. The digital data is then
manipulated by an on-board field-programmable gate array (FPGA) and transmitted through a
GigE or USB3 interface to the host machine. The PC compatible SVS ImagIR software allows the
user to send commands to the camera, view a live display, capture image and video files, and
manipulate the digitalized output. For users who plan to use a third-party GUI, the cameras come
equipped with the GenICam Vision compliant eBus software development kit (SDK) by Pleora.
This guide outlines the basic operation of the camera including software installation, camera
startup, and basic and advanced imaging procedures for the camera models listed below.

1.4 Safety Considerations
Power: The camera should only be powered with a 12 V DC power supply capable of providing 24 W of power.
Warning: Exceeding the recommended voltage may result in damage to the camera.
Sensor lid: The sensor is packaged with a glass lid. Use care not to touch, damage, or scratch the glass lid when
removing the lens and/or lens mount. Always keep the sensor port covered to prevent particulate accumulation on
the lid.
Environmental conditions: Do not expose to excessive moisture to prevent fire, shock hazard, or damage to the
camera.
Electrostatic discharge (ESD): The camera contains sensitive electronics. Use sufficient grounding when handling
the camera to prevent ESD damage.

3 Camera Mechanical Interfaces
This section provides detailed mechanical drawing and corresponding camera specifications. For
information on powering the camera and connecting it to your machine, see Section 6 “Getting
Started”.
All cameras come with a tapped hole which is compatible with most tripods on the market. The C
and F lens mounts are compatible with most standard lenses.
3.1 Camera Dimensions, Thread and Tap Specifications
The camera dimensions and weight depend on the attached lens mount. The following figures
show mechanical drawings for each camera configuration with dimensions given for the overall
case, electrical connections, tripod mount and sensor location.

3.2 Thermal Management
The Acuros CQD sensor generates heat which can affect device performance. The Acuros CQD
camera uses an integrated thermo-electric cooling (TEC) unit in the sensor package for active
thermal management. The default settings of the TEC Controller are ‘On’ and 30C. In addition,
the camera housing has been designed to carry heat away from the sensor to the external
environment.
To maximize noise performance and sensor lifetime, recommended cooling implementations
include convection of heat away from the external camera housing by forced air flow or
conduction of heat via thermal contact between the external case and a heat sink.
