SETTING UPYOURTEK PARTNER™
INSTALLING THE BATTERIES
Your TEK PARTNER™ requires 4 fresh AA-size batteries (alkaline batteries recommended).
1. Remove the battery cover on the back of your TEK PARTNER™.
2. Observe the polarity of the batteries and the “+/-” marks inside the battery compartment.
3. Insert the batteries.
4. Push the battery cover back in place.
NOTE: ■ When all batteries are disconnected, the TEK PARTNER™ retains it’s settings for a few
hours. Should you fail to replace the batteries in time, you may have to re-program. Always write
down your codes, just in case...
There are 5 Device Modes (TV, VCR, CBL, DVD and SAT) in your TEK PARTNER™. You
may setup the TEK PARTNER™ by using device codes or by using power scan (searching)
instructions.
Important- If you are programming a TV/VCR Combo, try VCR codes first!
USING DEVICE CODES
At-A-Glance:
MODE (3 sec) →digit →digit →digit
(e.g. for a Zenith TV, press and hold “TV” button until LED starts blinking, then press and
release “0”,”6",”9")
1. Manually turn on the device (e.g. your Television) you wish to control.
2. Referring to the DEVICE CODE LIST, look up the 3-digit Code Number that corresponds to
the type and brand of your equipment. If there is more than one DEVICE CODE listed under
your brand, try the first code with the following instructions:
3. Hold down the Device Mode Button (e.g. TV) on your Tek Partner until the status LED
indicator (located under the "TV" button) begins to blink. (This takes about 3 seconds)
4. Enter the three digit code of the DEVICE from step “l” above. Upon entry of the third digit,
the status indicator will blink a confirmation (3 blinks) if the code was accepted, but will turn
OFF immediately if the code was rejected.
5. Press the “PWR” button. The device should turn off. Then try the other functions on the TEK
PARTNER™. If your device responds to your requested function correctly, you have entered
the correct Code. Otherwise, repeat the above setup instructions with the remaining Device
Codes until your device (e.g. TV) responds to your requested function.
Simply repeat the above procedures to enter the Device Codes for your VCR, CBL, DVD or SAT -
(Remember to press a correct Device Mode Button TV, VCR, CBL, DVD or SAT in step 2 above).
NOTES:
■ If you cannot find a correct Device Code for your equipment, see USING POWER SCAN
(searching) section .
■ It is highly recommended, for future reference, to write down your Device Codes on the
bottom label of your TEK PARTNER™.

USING POWER SCAN (SEARCHING)
At-A-Glance:
MODE (3 sec) →POWER →Blue ARROW UP( ) or Blue ARROW DOWN( ) →ENTER
If you cannot identify a correct Device Code for your equipment from the Device Code List,
you may try the POWER SCAN method.
1. Manually turn on the device you wish to scan for (e.g. TV)
2. Perform Power Scan by pressing and holding (approximately 3 seconds) the desired
DEVICE MODE button TV, VCR, CBL, DVD or SAT until the status indicator light begins
to blink.
3. Press and release the PWR (power) button. The status indicator light will stop blinking and
stay ON at this point.
4. Press and release slowly and patiently the blue UP ( ) button to scan forward through the
code database. To scan backward through the code database, press and release the blue
DOWN ( ) button. Each time you press the up or down arrow, the remote will try and turn
off the device (TV, VCR etc) you originally selected.
5. When the device (TV,VCR etc.) responds by shutting off, press the ENTER button. This will
store the code in memory and you will see three blinks of the status indicator light to
confirm the code input. Be patient, there are over 100 codes to search through.
NOTE:
■Power Scan Model Check is the same as Power Scan, however, other keys may be tested to
see if they work with the target device without leaving the scan feature. If the device responds
to the other keys pressed, then the current ID will be locked in by pressing the ENTER button.
Otherwise, scanning may be continued by pressing either the blue ARROW UP ( ) or blue
ARROW DOWN( ) buttons.
At-A-Glance:
MODE (3 sec) →POWER →ARROW UP( ) or ARROW DOWN( ) →ANY VALID KEY
or (ARROW UP ( ) or ARROW DOWN ( ) ENTER

blink the l00’s, l0’s and l’s of the device’s code.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Do not expose your TEK PARTNER™ to direct sunlight, high temperature, mechanical
shock, or liquids.

3. Do not use corrosive or abrasive cleansers on your TEK PARTNER™.
4. Keep the unit dust free by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth.
5. Do not disassemble your TEK PARTNER™, it contains no user-serviceable parts.
