EZ Channel Scan
About DVD Recording
Follow these instructions to scan for channels if you are
using an antenna or basic cable TV connection.
aPress SETUP.
The Setup menu appears.
bPress BBto select Tunin Band then press BBa ain.
cUse vv/ VVto select TV or CATV then press ENTER.
TV: If you are using a standard antenna to receive channels.
CATV: If you are using basic cable to receive channels.
dUse vv/ VVto select the EZ Channel Scan option.
eUse BBto hi hli ht Start then press ENTER to be in the
channel search.
The tuner will automatically search for all available chan-
nels in the area and place them in the tuner’s
memory. After scanning is complete,the DVD Recorder
tunes to the lowest channel number found.Press SETUP to
e it the Setup menu.
NOTE : To add or erase channels from memory, see the
Owner’s Manual for details.
Recordable Discs
DVD-RW (Digital Video Disc - ReWritable):
These Discs can be recorded on repeatedly.
Recordings can be erased, then you can
record again on the same Disc.
DVD-R (Digital Video Disc - Recordable):
These Discs can be recorded only once.
After you finalize a DVD-R, you cannot
record on it or edit it.
DVD+RW (Digital Video Disc + ReWritable):
These Discs can be recorded on repeatedly.
Recordings can be erased, then you can
record again on the same Disc.
DVD+R (Digital Video Disc + Recordable):
These Discs can be recorded only once.
After you finalize a DVD+R, you cannot
record on it or edit.
What are ‘recording modes’for DVD-RW?
There are two recording modes available using
DVD-RW disc: VR mode and Video mode. When
recording to a DVD-R disc, recordings are always in
Video mode. DVD-RW discs can be formatted for VR
mode recording or Video mode recording.
VR mode recording
• Not playable on regular DVD players
• Recordings can be extensively edited
Video mode recording
• Playable on regular DVD players (after finalizing)
• Limited editing features
Recording time and picture quality
There are four preset recording quality modes:
HQ (High Quality) – about 1 hour/disc
SQ (Standard Quality) – about 2 hour/disc
LQ (Low Quality) – about 4 hour/disc
EQ (Extended Quality) – about 6 hour/disc
