Aithre Illyrian User manual

ILLYRIAN MANUAL
Thank you for purchasing the Aithre Illyrian smart oximeter. Please follow these instructions to use and
your Illyrian with your iOS device.
IMPORTANT NOTICES TO SAVE YOU TIME AND FRUSTRATION
1. READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS, SPECIFICALLY ON SENSOR PAD PLACEMENT! Most issues on low
quality readings are due to misplacement, movement, or lack of pressure on the sensor.
2. An iOS device is required to use the Illyrian as there is no display screen on the Illyrian.
3. You must download the free Aithre Connect app to view the oximeter data on your iOS device.
4. There is no manual pairing of the Illyrian. The Illyrian automatically pairs with the Aithre Connect
app.
5. The WIRELESS antenna is located in the small junction box near the USB power plug, away from
your head.
6. Use the Aithre USB power bank provided. Some USB power banks will automatically shutoff when
nothing is connected and the Illyrian draws so little current that other USB power banks may be
confused.
7. The Illyrian is not waterproof. Excessive sweating should be avoided.
8. If using the Illyrian during sleep, care must be taken to secure the cord away from your neck to
prevent accidental strangulation. Use the silicone cord wrap to shorten the length of the cord.
Never use the Illyrian with kids or with elderly without constant supervision due to choking
hazard.
9. The Illyrian is not a medical device and has not been evaluated by the FDA. The Illyrian is not a
lifesaving device and should not be relied upon to prevent death or treat a medical condition. The
Illyrian is for supplemental non-medical informational purposes only.

PLACEMENT OF THE SENSOR PAD
Different individuals will find the best readings in different places due to anatomical differences. The best
readings have been demonstrated in one of two locations: under the ear or on the forehead. In either
case, the sensor pad must be pressed directly against the skin and secured against movement or shifting.
FOREHEAD. Excellent results may be found by placing the sensor on the
middle of the forehead using a headband to secure the sensor pad in
position. The cord should be looped behind the ear.

BELOW EAR. In the aviation context, the sensor pad can be tucked
between the headset cushion and the skin below the earlobe. Note this
is NOT on the earlobe, but below the earlobe. Note that women and
children often are unable to get consistent readings in this location due
to anatomical differences. Also, this location is not ideal where there is
excessive movement or talking. In these cases when readings are
inconsistent or low, use the forehead position of the sensor pad.
POWER
The Aithre portable power bank is approved for use with the Illyrian. Do not use other portable power
banks as they may not be able to supply the low current requirement of the Illyrian. Charge up your Aithre
power bank for its first use with the number of red lights indicating the amount of charge. Pushing the
button once turns the Aithre power bank on or off. Holding the button turns the flashlight feature on or
off. The Aithre portable power bank will stay on until you turn it off manually using the button.
PAIRING
The Illyrian should pair automatically when power is applied. Simply open the Aithre Connect app and
navigate to the pulse oximetry tab. The pulsing pairing indication should begin as soon as power is
applied. Once paired, the Aithre Connect app should continue to collect data even if used in the
background.
AITHRE CONNECT SETTINGS
Turn SIRI notices on within the settings tab of the Aithre Connect app. The default warnings provided are
drops below 92 percent and drops below 85 percent. You may also specify a custom SPO2 warning level
within the settings tab. Note that the warnings currently are only provided one time so as to avoid being
a nuisance. Updates are planned to permit repeat warning notifications within the app.

APPLE WATCH
The Aithre Connect iOS app includes a companion WatchOS app that
comes with the download of the iOS app. The WatchOS app is not a
separate download, but rather is installed automatically on your Apple
Watch when your iOS device has downloaded the Aithre Connect app.
The WatchOS app will display your SPO2 and BPM automatically when
the Illyrian is paired to your iOS device.
MULTIPLE SIMULTANEOUS ILLYRIAN CONNECTIONS
Up to six Illyrians may simultaneously be connected to the Aithre Connect app. The Illyrians are positioned
in the app in the order they are initially paired the first time. If you want to reorder the Illyrians, turn
them all off and go to the settings tab in the Aithre Connect app and press CLEAR DEVICES. Then turn the
Illryians on in the order you want them within the app. This order will be maintained until the devices are
cleared.
AVIATION CONTEXT: AVIONICS OUTPUT
When used with the Aithre Shield EX 3, it is possible to output pilot
SPO2 readings to the Garmin G3X or Dynon Skyview. For best results,
make sure your Illyrian is paired to your iOS Aithre Connect app and
that the pilot Illyrian is in the first position in the pulse oximetry tab of
the app. The EX 3 will then receive the pilot SPO2 data wirelessly and
output the same to the avionics.
