Cabling Use the twisted-pair CAT5 cable, or top cabling for RJ45 port connections. The cable between the switch and
the device (switch, hub, workstation, etc.) must be less than 100m long.
Connecting Power Inputs
The steps below demonstrate the electrical installation process of the equipment:
Step 1: Insert the positive and negative wires into the PWR1 (V1+, V1-) and PWR2 (V2+, V2-) contacts of the
block connector, as shown below:
Block Power Terminal

Industrial Communication Connect series
Doc. Code: CE125001 Rev: A
Altus S. A.
8
Step 2: Tighten the screw screws to prevent the wires from loosening, as shown below:
Block Power Terminal
Caution: use only copper conductors (100°C). Tighten the screws at 0.56 N.m.
The wire gauge for the block terminal should be 18-20 AWG (0.81mm to 1.02mm).
Note on Grounding:
Grounding and routing of wires helps reduce noise effects due to electromagnetic interference (EMI). Make the
grounding connection of the screw to the grounding surface before connecting devices. The ground screw
symbol is shown below:
Ground screw
Caution: Using shielded wires allows better electromagnetic compatibility.
Mechnical Assembly –CET2-0500

Hardware Installation –CET2-0500
Installation Steps
This section explains how to install CET2-0500.
Attention:
1. This device is designed for indoor use and at altitudes of up to 2,000 meters.
2. This device is designed to be installed in a casing and control panel
Installation steps:
Step 1: Unpack the switch from the original box
Step 2: Make sure the DIN rail holder is screwed into the switch.
If the DIN rail holder is not screwed to the switch, see the DIN Rail Mounting section for installation
instructions
If you want to mount the wall switch, see the Wall Mount section for installation instructions
Step 3: To hang the switch on a DIN rail or wall, see the Mechanical Assembly section
Step 4: Energize the switch, and then the "on" LED will light up.
If you need help with how to do power cabling, see the Connecting Power Inputs section
See the LED Indicators section for led lights
Step 5: Prepare a twisted or direct pair CAT5 cable for Ethernet connection
Step 6: Insert one side of the RJ45 cable into the switch port, and the other side into the network Ethernet device
port (e.g., PC or server). The Ethernet port LED (RJ45) on the swtich should be connected when the cable is
connected to the network device.
See the LED Indicators section for led lights
Step 7: When all connections are made and the LEDs indicate normal operation, the installation is complete.

Maintenance and Service –CET2-0500
If the device needs service of any kind, the user is prompted to disconnect it and remove it from its
installation. The initial installation must be done in such a way that this procedure is as convenient as
possible.
Voltage/power lines should be properly insulated as well as other cables. Be careful when handling
them to avoid accidents, such as tripping over cables.
Do not insert foreign objects of any kind under any circumstances into the heat dissipation holes located
on the different faces of the device. This can not only cause damage to the internal layout, but also
cause damage to the user.
Do not open the device under any circumstances, please contact the seller for any necessary repairs, or
follow the instructions in this manual.
Clean the device with soft cloths.
Troubleshooting –CET2-0500
Make sure you have the correct power cord and/or adapter. Never use a source or adapter with a non-
compliant DC output voltage, or burn the equipment.
Select the appropriate UTP/STP cable to establish the network. Use an unshielded twisted pair (UTP)
cable or shielded twisted pair (STP) cable for RJ45 connections: 100Ω CAT5 to 10M/100Mbps. Also,
make sure that the length of any connection with twisted pair cable does not exceed 100 meters.
Diagnosing LED indicators: to assist in identifying problems, the switch can be easily monitored with
LED indicators, which help identify if any problem exists.
See the LED Indicators section for led lights indication
If the POWER INDICATOR LED does not turn on when the power cord is connected, the user may be
having a problem with the cable. Look for loose power connections, power outages, or power outage
surges.
Contact Altus for technical support service if the issue can't be resolved yet.
If the switch LED indicators are normal and the cables are properly connected, but the packets are not
yet transmitted, check the configuration or status of the system Ethernet devices.

Connecting the Fault Alarm Contact
The Fault Alarm contact is located in the middle of the block terminal connector as shown in the image below. When
inserting the wires, the fault status will be detected, including power failure or connection failure on the port
(manageable industrial switch only) and forming a normally open circuit. An example application for the Fault alarm
contact is demonstrated in the image below:
Connecting the Fault Alarm Contact
Note: The wire gauge for the block terminal should be between 12-24 AWG (0.51mm to 2.05mm). If you use only one
power supply, place a jumper from Pin 1 to Pin 5 and Pin 2 to Pin 6 to eliminate the Fault alarm.
