1. Important Safety Instructions
Read these instructions carefully and retain them for future use. If this product is
passed to a third party, then these instructions must be included.
CAUTION
When using hand-operated lawn mowers, basic safety precautions should always be
followed to reduce the risk of personal injury, including the following:
»Keep children away – All visitors should be kept at a distance from work area.
»Do not operate the product while under the inuence of alcohol or drugs.
»Dress properly – Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. They can be caught in moving
parts. Use of protective gloves and substantial footwear is recommended when
working outdoors.
»Use right product – Do not use the product for any job except that for which it is
intended.
»Do not force the product – The product will do the job better and with less likelihood
of a risk of injury at the rate for which it was designed for.
»Do not overreach – Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
»Stay alert – Watch what you are doing. Use common sense. Do not use the product
when tired.
»Store the product indoors – When not in use, the product should be stored indoors in
dry, and in a high or locked-up place – out of reach of children.
»Maintain the product with care – Keep blades sharp and clean for best and safest
performance.
– Follow instructions for lubricating.
– Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease.
»Keep hands and feet away from cutting area.
»Objects struck by the blade can cause severe injuries to persons. The lawn should
always be carefully checked and cleared of all objects prior to each mowing.
»If the product strikes a foreign object, follow these steps:
– Stop mowing.
– Inspect for damage.
– Repair any damage before restarting and using the product.
»Only use the product in daylight or good articial light.
»Avoid holes, ruts, bumps, rocks, or other hidden hazards. Uneven terrain could
overturn the product, or cause operator to lose their balance or footing.
»Do not direct discharge material toward anyone. Avoid discharging material against a
wall or obstruction. Material may ricochet back toward the operator. Tilt the blade(s)
when crossing gravel surfaces.
»Do not leave the product unattended. Always park on level ground.
»Do not mow in reverse unless absolutely necessary. Always look down and behind
before and while backing.
»Slopes are a major factor related to accidents. Operation on slopes requires extra
caution.
