About these operating instructions

Read the safety instructions carefully before using the device for the first time. Note the warnings on
the device and in the operating instructions.
Always keep the operating instructions close to hand. If you sell the device or give it away, please ensure that you
also pass on these operating instructions. They are an essential component of the product.

Proper use
Proper use
This appliance is designed to freeze food. This appliance is intended to be used in private
households and similar household applications, such as:
−in kitchens for employees in shops, offices and other commercial areas;
−on agricultural estates;
−by customers in hotels, motels and other residential facilities;
−in bed & breakfast accommodation.
When used in commercial areas, the valid regulations must be observed.
Please note that we shall not be liable in cases of improper use:
− Do not modify the appliance without our consent and do not use any additional equipment
which we have not approved or supplied.
− Use only spare parts and accessories that we have supplied or approved.
− Heed all the information in these operating instructions, especially the safety information.
Any other use is deemed improper and can cause personal injury or property damage.

WARNING!
Risk of injury!
Risk of injury for children or persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities (for
example partially disabled people or older persons with limited physical and mental capabilities)
or no knowledge and experience (older children, for example).
− Keep the appliance and its accessories out of the reach of children.
− This appliance may be used by children over the age of 8 and by persons with reduced
physical, sensory or mental abilities or by those without experience and/or knowledge, if they
are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the appliance and have understood
the dangers that result from it.
− Children must not play with the appliance.
− Cleaning and user maintenance may not be carried out by children, unless they are aged 8 or
over and are supervised.
− Children younger than 8 should be kept away from the appliance and the mains cable.
− Do not allow children to climb on the appliance in case they fall inside and get shut in or fall off.
− Keep children away from the inside of the appliance. If the lid falls shut, there is a risk of
suffocation!
− Do not store any of the packaging material used (bags, polystyrene, etc.) within the reach of
children.

Risk of injury!
There is a risk of injury through damage to the cooling system.
− Do not place the appliance on its side or rear, otherwise oil may leak out of the compressor
into the refrigerant circuit and could block it.

− If the cooling system has been damaged, the room in which the appliance is situated must be
thoroughly aired for several minutes.
− Damage to the refrigerant circuit must be prevented.
− Contact between the coolant and the eyes or skin could lead to injuries. If affected, rinse out
your eyes immediately and seek medical advice.
− There is a risk of ignition! Do not operate any electrical appliances inside the freezer
compartment that are not approved by the manufacturer. Do not use any mechanical
equipment or synthetic agents to accelerate the defrosting process other than those
recommended by the manufacturer. Keep open flames away from the appliance.
− Manipulation or interference in the refrigerant circuit are not permitted and will invalidate the
warranty.
− If the cooling system has been damaged and it is not possible for an explosive mixture of
gas and air to develop, the room in which the appliance is situated must be thoroughly aired
for several minutes (the minimum size of the room prescribed in EN 378 is 1 m3per 8 g of
refrigerant, cf. “Technical data” on page 17).
Transport
CAUTION!
Risk of injury!
The appliance is heavy. There is a risk of injury from the strain of lifting the appliance.
− Seek the assistance of at least one other person in order to move the appliance.
NOTICE!
Risk of damage!
Risk of damage to the appliance if transported incorrectly.
− The appliance should always be transported upright. If transported at an angle of more than
40°, leave to stand for 2 hours before connecting to the mains and switching on in order to
allow time for the refrigerant circuit to settle.
− Do not place the appliance on its side or rear, otherwise oil may leak out of the compressor
into the refrigerant circuit and could block it.
− Do not expose the appliance to rain or splashes of water.
Setting up and electrical connection
Before connection
− Unpack the appliance and remove the adhesive tape.
Use a mild detergent to remove any adhesive residues.
− Dispose of the expanded polystyrene padding separately from the other packaging.
− Rinse the inside of the appliance and the fittings with lukewarm water and mild detergent
and allow to dry.
− After installation check that the appliance is not standing on the connection cable.
− Do not operate the appliance if it has been visibly damaged or the mains cable or plug is
defective.

Risk of damage!
Risk of damage to the appliance due to improper handling.
− Set up the freezer in a dry room with ventilation.
− The appliance is suitable for climate classes N, SN, ST and T (see type plate). A flawless cooling
performance of the appliance is guaranteed at ambient temperatures of between 10 and
43°C. The performance of the appliance may diminish at other temperatures.
− Do not expose the product to extreme conditions. The following should be avoided:
−high levels of humidity or moisture,
−extremely high or low temperatures,
−direct sunlight,
−naked flames.
− Do not set up the appliance near to heat sources such as ovens, radiators, underfloor heat-
ing, etc.
− Set up the appliance on a stable, flat surface.
WARNING!
Risk of fire!
Inadequate air circulation can lead to a build-up of heat.
− There must be a clearance of at least 70 cm above the appliance and 20cm around the
appliance for adequate ventilation.
− Do not set up the appliance near to heat sources such as ovens, radiators, underfloor heating,
etc. If it is impossible not to place the appliance near a heat source, use a suitable insulation
board or adhere to the following minimum distances from the heat source:
−Electric or gas cookers, etc.: approx. 30 cm
−Oil-fired or coal-fired ranges: approx. 30 cm
−A minimum side clearance of 30cm is required if installed next to another cooling
appliance.
− Never cover the vents on the rear and sides of the appliance.
Mains connection
− Connect the appliance to a properly installed safety socket which is easily accessible and close
to the place of installation. The local mains voltage must correspond to the technical data for
the appliance. The socket must be freely accessible so that you can unplug the appliance from
the mains quickly if necessary.
− Unwind the entire length of the mains cable from the cable holder 5.
− Ensure the mains cable is out of harm’s way and will not trip people up. Do not allow the
mains cable to become trapped or squashed.

Use of the appliance
WARNING!
Risk of explosion!
Flammable gases and liquids can cause explosions if stored in the freezer.
− Do not store explosive substances or spray cans containing flammable propellants in the
appliance.
− Do not freeze carbonated drinks. Water can force open the container as it expands.
− If freezing drinks high in alcohol content, they must be kept upright in closed containers.
− Do not store glass or metal jars containing liquids in the freezer compartment.
− Never use de-icer sprays. Explosive gases may form.
WARNING!
Risk of injury/health hazard!
Incorrect use of the appliance can result in injuries.
− Do not touch the freezing inside surfaces of the freezer compartment or frozen food with bare
hands. Do not take ice cubes or ice lollies out of the freezer and put them straight into your
mouth. Burns caused by low temperatures are possible.
− Use the handle to close the lid on the appliance. Otherwise your fingers may be jammed.
The appliance may not function perfectly (possible defrosting of the stored food or an
increased temperature in the freezer compartment) if it is exposed for a long period of time to
temperatures that are colder than the lower limit of the temperature range for which it was
designed (below 10 °C).
Food can start to thaw or defrost completely if there is a power cut or if the appliance is switched
off. There is then a risk of food poisoning.
− If there has been a power cut, check that the food which is stored in the appliance still looks
and smells safe to eat.
− If there has been a power cut, throw away any frozen food which has evidently started to
thaw.
− Do not refreeze food which has defrosted or has started to thaw.
− In the event of disconnection, even of a temporary nature only, take the frozen food out of the
appliance and keep it in sufficiently cold storage.
NOTICE!
Risk of damage!
Risk of damage to the appliance due to improper use as a storage surface or a piece of furniture.
− Do not place any heavy objects on the appliance lid.
− Do not sit on the appliance lid.
− Do not operate equipment which heats up (rice cooker, coffee machine, toaster, etc.) on the
appliance lid.

Cleaning and maintenance
DANGER!
Risk of electric shock/short circuit!
There is a risk of electric shock/short circuit due to live parts.
− Before starting any cleaning or maintenance work, always ensure that the power plug has
been removed from the safety socket (do not pull on the mains cable, but on the power plug).
If the plug is not accessible, the corresponding fuse for the mains electricity supply to the
house needs to be switched off.
− Do not use a steam cleaner to defrost and clean the appliance. The steam can get into live
parts and cause a short circuit.
DANGER!
Explosion and fire hazard!
An accumulation of gas can lead to explosions.
− Do not use any flammable liquids to clean the appliance or any parts of the appliance.
− Do not use de-icer sprays. They may produce explosive gases.
NOTICE!
Risk of damage!
Damage to the appliance caused by improper handling.
− Do not use any mechanical equipment or synthetic agents to accelerate the defrosting
process, e.g. electric heaters, hot air blowers or hairdryers, other than those recommended by
the manufacturer.
Sensitive surfaces:
− Do not use any abrasive or harsh cleaning solutions on the inside, door or housing of the
appliance as these could damage the surfaces.
− Do not allow oil and grease to come into contact with the plastic parts and the door seal as the
surface can become porous and brittle.
The hinges on the lid may be damaged if put under excessive strain.
− When opening the appliance lid, do not force the appliance lid further back than it will go.
Faults
DANGER!
Risk of electric shock/short circuit!
There is a risk of electric shock/short circuit due to live parts.
− Never try to open and/or repair an appliance component yourself. There is a risk of electric
shock.
− To prevent unnecessary risks, damaged mains cables may only be replaced by authorised
workshops or the technical customer service.
− In the event of a fault, please contact our Service Centre or another professional repair
workshop.
