
FlameSAFE Water Fire Extinguisher Service and Maintenance
AMPAC Safety Pty Ltd does not service, maintain or recharge
fire extinguishers. This service and maintenance information isa
guide to assist qualified service personnel in the inspection and
maintenance of AMPAC Safety FlameSAFE fire extinguishers
only. It is important that all warnings and notes on the fire
extinguisher and in AS1851 are complied with. Serious injury
could occur if these instructionsarenot followed. AMPAC Safety
assumes no liability for service, maintenance or recharge of fire
extinguishersby publishing this document.
When maintenance is indicated, it should be performed by
trained persons using proper equipment. Fire extinguishers are
pressure vessels and must be treated with respect and handled
with care. They are mechanical devices and require periodic
maintenance to be sure that they are ready to operate properly
and safely. Extinguishers should be serviced only with original
and genuine spare parts –the use of substitute parts constitutes
thevoidof anywarrantycovering the equipment.
1. REGULAR INSPECTION
The extinguisher shall be inspected in accordance with the
requirementsof Australian StandardAS1851.
2. EXTINGUISHERRECHARGEINSTRUCTIONS
Warning
A. Before attempting to recharge be sure this extinguisher is
completelydepressurized.
B. Usearegulatedpressuresource.
C. Check and calibrate regulator gauge at frequent intervals,
theregulator gauge shouldbe used to determine whenthe
intendedcharging pressure hasbeen reached, do not use
theextinguisher gaugefor thispurpose.
D. Never leave an extinguisher connected to a regulator of a
high pressure source for an extended period of time. A
defective regulator could cause the cylinder to rupture due
toexcessivepressure.
The Fire Extinguisher is to be recharged in accordance with
AustralianStandardAS1851.
Ensure the extinguisher isfully discharged by opening the
DischargeValveuntilallpressureisreleased.
Removethe DischargeValvefrom thecylinder.
Empty the remainingcontentsof thecylinder.
FlameSAFEWater
Inspect the cylinder internally, with the aid of an
inspectionlight,toensurecylinderiscleanandfree
from damage.
Inspect the cylinder externally to ensure it is free
from damage.
Fill cylinder with 9.0litresof Water.
Check Valve Assembly to ensure correct
operation. Lubricate Valve “O” Ring withpetroleum
jelly.
Screw Valve Assembly into cylinder ensuring “O”
ring is correctly seated.
Pressurise extinguisher with either Air or Dry
Nitrogento700kPa.
Fix Safety Pin to handles and fit Safety Tie to
preventaccidental discharge.
Examine extinguisher to ensure that there are no
leaks.
