1.1. Overview
Alborz MicoSystem provides a variety of solutions in the fields of software and hardware in SCADA
and Telemetric systems. In the hardware category, the RTU productions of the company are divided
into five categories of RTU100, IDL1000, MDL2000, AMS-R3000 and AMS-R4000, which they are
designed and developed for specific applications in the SCADA systems. In this document, we focus
on the features and capabilities of the AMS-E3011 Remote IO and how you can be benefited from
these features in your SCADA project.

1.4. Specification
The AMS-E3011 RIO is a remote IO expansion module with a low power consumption feature
which is offered for using in SCADA systems with limited number of Input/output. It can
connect to any RTU or PLC through RS485, RS232 or CAN bus with the standard Modbus
communication protocol. Moreover, AMS-E3011 RIO can be used as a standalone device to
transmit numerous IO with twisted pair cable up to 3000ft (900m) farther. This product
benefit from a Cortex-M3 industrial-grade CPU, integrated power supply and a number of
accurate analog and digital inputs/outputs in order to data acquisition and perform
supervisory commands.

2.1. DIN-Rail Installation
For DIN-Rail installation, simply perform the following steps to put the device on the DIN-Rail:
Insert the top of the DIN-Rail bracket into the top of the DIN-Rail.
Rotate the top of the module downwards until the bracket snaps into the DIN-Rail.

After performing these steps, installation is completed.
2.2. Wall-mounted Installation
For wall-mounted installation, users can fix the device on the wall with 2 screws as shown below.

2.3. Device Address and Baud Rate Setting
The address and baud rate of the device can be selected as follow:
1. Open the top glass cover of the device with a screwdriver as shown below:
2. As you can see, two DIP-Switches with 4 positions are located in the left side of the device.

2.4. Modbus Register Map
The AMS-E3011 RIO module supports multiple Modbus function code includes function code 02 for
reading Input Status (DI), function code 04 for reading input registers (AI, DI with flag and Counters),
function code 05/15 for writing Single/Multiple coils (DO), function code 06/16 for writing
Single/Multiple of the chattering filter parameters. Below table shows the register addresses and
their value description.

3.1. Power Supply
AMS-E3011 RIO supports main input voltage with ranging from 9 VDC to 36 VDC. Users can choose a
standard 12 VDC or a 24 VDC for power supply.
ATTENTION
This product is intended to be supplied by a standard power supply with output marked
“LPS” and rated for 9-36VDC.

The wiring of the analog Inputs as shown below:
It should be noted that, AMS-E3011 RIO supports both of the current input mode and voltage input mode. The
device has two DIP-Switches with 4 positions in the bottom side in order to change between these modes. Use
a small screwdriver in order to change DIP-Switch states as following figure.
