Features of the Spotting Scope
TheAPMTelescopeAPOspottingscopefeaturesatriplet objectivewith3elementsin3groups,whichprovidesa
highlycorrectedimage,excellentopticalperformanceandhighfidelitytruecolourimages.Inadditionhigh
qualityBaK4prismswereusedforacorrectimageorientation.Theopticsarefullybroadband multi-coated
throughoutformaximumlighttransmissionandcontrast.Thisallowsyoutoseethesmallestdetails.
TheAPMTelescopesAPOspottingscopehasahousingmadefromaluminium-magnesium alloy.Itisavery
lightweightmaterial.Despiteitslowweight,itisverystableandcorrosionisnotpossible.Nonethelesswe
recommendtheuseofatripod.
TheAPMTelescopesAPOspottingscopeisfilledwithharmlessnitrogengasduringmanufacture.Thisprevents
theingressofwater,thusmakingit water-resistant.Youdonothavetoworryifyourspottingscopegetswet.Ifit
getswet,justletitdryathomeanditisreadyforuseagain.Bythewaythenitrogenprotects your spotting scope
against fogging from inside and lens fungus.
TheAPMTelescopesAPOspottingscopehasazoom eyepiece,whichyieldsdifferentmagnifications.Itconsists
of8elementsin5groupsand,ofcourse,ismulticoated.Itisofferedwitha45°view.Thisprovidesacomfortable
viewintothescopeduringnatureobservations.
Features of the Tripod
Thesuppliedtripodisverystableandsimpletohandle.IteasilycarriesyournewAPMTelescopesAPOspotting
scope.Thetripodlegshavesegments,soyoucanadjusttheheightofthetripodtoyourneedsineverysituation.
Assembly
Firstpullthetripodlegsoffbylooseningtheclampingsonthelegsandthecentercolumn(if
applicable)andlockingtheminasuitableheight.Next,adjustthespreadinganglebyloosing
thelockingclampsandspreadingthelegsoutward(dependingontripod).Thenscrewinthe
tripodstandard1/4"or3/8"connectorintothethreadatthebottomofthetripodadapter.
Theeyepieceisconnectedtothespottingscopeviaabayonetconnectorandcanberemovedfora
safetransport.Toinserttheeyepieceputitintothebayonetandturnitclockwiseuntilitclicksinto
place.Toremovetheeyepicepushtheknobbelowthebayonetandturnitcounterclockwise.
Theeyecupcanberotated.Adjustitsothatyoucanoverlooktheentirefieldofview.The
eyecupgivesyouacomfortablesupportattherightdistance.
Focusing
TheAPMTelescopesAPOspottingscopehasapreciseandsmoothfocusingduetoaninternal
porro prism focusing system with 4:1 reduction:First,adjustthefocusroughlywiththeinner
knob,inordertothensensitivelyfindtheexactfocuswiththeouterknob.Achangein
magnificationhardlyshiftsthefocusandcanbecorrectedbyfinerefocusingwiththefine
adjustment.
Zoom-Eyepiece
TheAPMTelescopesAPOspottingscopehasazoomeyepiecewithavariablefocallength
between22.6mmand7.63mm,whichyieldsmagnifications between 25× and 75×.For
orientation,markingsareattachedatcertainmagnifications.Justturntherubberizedringatthe
eyepiecetogetthemagnificationsuitableforyourobservingsituation.
Accordingtothemagnificationtheeyereliefvariesbetween20mmand18mm.Thusperfectly
suitedforwearerofglasses.

Slidable Dew Shield
TheAPMTelescopesAPOspottingscopepossesesaslidabledewshieldtoprotectthe
objectivelensfromfoggingbydew.Itcanbeinsertedfortransport.
Lens and Eyepiece caps
Youshouldalwaysprotecttheobjectiveandeyepiecelenseswiththesuppliedprotectivecapsagainstdustand
scratchessoyoucanenjoywatchingwithyourAPMTelescopesAPOspottingscopeforalongtime.Thebayonet
connectorshouldalwaysbeclosedwiththeprotectivecapwhentheeyepieceisremoved.
Ready Case
TheAPMTelescopesAPOspottingscopeissafeinthereadycasefromminorbumpsand
weatherhazardsandstillremainsfullyfunctional,thankstotheremovablelensandeyepiece
protectionandtheprotectiveflapoverthefocusingknob.
Care and Maintenance
Toomuchistoomuch:PleasecleanyourAPMTelescopesAPOspottingscopeonlyifitisvisiblysoiled.First
removeloosedustwithanopticalbrushorbellows.Thiswillavoidscratches.Afterthatyoushouldcleanthedirty
lenswithadampeyeglasscleaningcloth,microfiberclothorcleaningswab.Pleasecleaninsideout.

mayimmediatelysufferirreparableeyedamage,whichcanleadtoblindness.
Onlyifthespottingscopeisequippedwithlensfilterscertifiedforsolarobservation,thesun
canbesafelyobserved.Wearehappytoadviseyou.
Accessories
Withthis adapter for 1.25" eyepiecesyoucanuseyourowneyepieceswiththespottingscope
andrealizedifferentmagnifications.Theadapterissimplytackedtothespottingscopeinstead
ofthesuppliedzoomeyepieceandreadytotakeyourowneyepiece.Suitableeyepiecesare
e.g.theUltraFlatFieldeyepieceswithfocallengthsbetween10mmand24mmortheXWA
3.5mmand5mmfromAPMTelescopes.
ThisM42x0.75 projection-adapterenablesyoutouseaDSLRorCCDcamerawithyour
spottingscope.Itissimplypushedovertheeyepieceandfixedwithclampingscrews.The
M42threadonthecamerasidecanbedirectlyconnectedtoacameraorviaaT2ringadapter,
whichisalsoavailablefromAPMTelescopes.
