ABOUT THE USER’S GUIDE
Thank you for choosing this Arksen appliance, for your portable laundry needs. This User’s Guide will
provide you with valuable information necessary for the operation and maintenance for your new portable
washer / spin dryer. If properly maintained, your Arksen washer/dryer unit will provide you with many
years of trouble-free operation. Please take a few moments to read these instructions thoroughly, for safe
and efficient use.
If you experience any trouble with operation, please see the troubleshooting section of this user’s guide.
Should you encounter further issues, contact Arksen Customer Service at (949) 344-2488. For easy
reference, please attach your sales receipt to this page, along with the date of purchase. Be sure to
include the model number, serial number from the nameplate on the side of the unit. This information will
be necessary in the event your unit requires servicing.
WELCOME
The Arksen Model 048-GM-48030 is a perfect choice as a portable laundry solution for dorms,
apartments, lofts, small houses, camping, RV’s, or when traveling — anywhere laundry facilities are non-
existent or expensive. Easy to use, portable washers and spin dryers use less water, less detergent, less
electricity and operate faster.
As a result, they save you both time and money, and are better for the environment than traditional units.
And, of course, they are also space savers! And with an 11-pound capacity, it’s one of the largest capacity
units currently on the market.

Important Safety Information
READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
FOR YOUR SAFETY: Read all instructions carefully before operating the unit.
•Do not wash articles that have been previously cleaned in, washed in, soaked in, or spotted with
gasoline, dry-cleaning solvents, or other flammable or explosive substances. They give off vapors that
could ignite or explode.
•Do not add gasoline, dry-cleaning solvents, or other flammable or explosive substances to directly to
the wash water. Do not use them to clean any parts of the washer, nor store such substances within the
vicinity of the machine. These substances give off vapors that could create a fire hazard or explosion.
•Never allow children to operate, play with, or crawl inside the portable washer. Close supervision of
children is necessary.
•Do not reach into the washer or spin dryer, when the agitator or inner tub is moving, to avoid potential
injury.
•Do not attempt to wash or extremely large or heavy items in the washer, such as coats or comforters.
Doing so may result in strain on the agitator or spinner, resulting in possible damage to your machine.
•Do not place the unit in steamy rooms or locations where the washer may be directly exposed to rain.
Electrical parts that are exposed to moisture can cause an electrical shock hazard.
•When not in use, leave the lids for both the washer and spin dryer up and open, to allow moisture to
evaporate and properly dry.
•If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similar
qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
•Do not repair or replace any part of the washer or attempt to service the unit yourself, unless
specifically recommended in the maintenance or troubleshooting instructions.
•Before you throw away your old portable washer: remove and discard the lid to prevent small children
or animals from becoming trapped inside.

PREPARATION
1) Place unit in a room that isn’t regularly exposed to moisture (for
instance, avoid in a bathroom with a shower, or any rooms
where unit may encounter rain or leaks."
2) Detach the Drain Hose from holder on the side of machine.
Make sure that the hose can reach a drain, without obstruction
or pulling on the unit itself. Drain hose must reach a height of at
least 10 inches. Please place drain hose over side of sink,
bathtub, etc.
3) Plug unit into a 3-prong electrical outlet, preferably one that is
grounded.
4) Connect Inlet hose from Washer Water Inlet to a faucet.
Squeeze metal clamp attached to the top of hose to secure the
hose to faucet head.
5) When you are ready, turn on faucet to desired temperature.
Water will begin to fill inner washer tub. You may also fill tub
directly, by using a bucket or jug.
6) Fill inner tub with water until it is about one inch below the oval-
shaped overfill drain inside of washer.
7) Add detergent. Liquid soaps are recommended but if you prefer
powdered detergent, it will be necessary to allow detergent to
fully dissolve in water before adding garments. [One teaspoon is
sufficient for normal loads. Heavily soiled garments or larger
items may require up to one tablespoon of detergent]

BEFORE WASHING
•Prepare wash load. For the best cleaning results, mix large and
small articles within each load.
•After filling inner tub with water and soap, lift up Washer Lid
and drop articles loosely into the inner tub. Fill only up to half
point of tub with garments. Do not pack articles in tightly.
Articles should move freely through wash water, allowing them
to roll over, sink and then reappear during wash cycle.
•Overloading inner tub can result in poor washing and rinsing
results, wrinkling and tearing of garments, and malfunction of
unit."
•Long sleeves, pants legs or sheets should be tied into a loose
knot or placed inside of a mesh bag to prevent excessive
tangling or wrinkles.
•Metal zippers and buttons should be closed to reduce prevent
scratching or other damage to machine or other clothing.
•For more heavily soiled garments, allow items to soak for 10 to
20 minutes before you start wash cycle."
OPERATION !
WASHING CYCLE
1. Close the Washer Lid. Turn Wash Selector dial to an
appropriate setting:
NORMAL — for full loads or loads consisting of thicker
fabrics. Also used as a default setting when washer is off.
SOFT — for light loads or loads consisting of delicate
fabrics.
2. Turn Wash Timer dial to desired range of time, between 0 to 15
minutes. Allow cycle to complete.
3. At the end of wash cycle, turn Wash Selector dial to the “Drain”
setting. Allow unit’s automatic pump to remove all water through
drain hose.
4. When no more water flows from drain hose, turn Wash
Selector to the “Normal” position.
You are now ready to begin rinse and spin dry cycles.

OPERATION
RINSE CYCLE
1. Leave Water Inlet Hose connected to the faucet.
Disconnect the other end from Washer Inlet. Connect
it to Spin Dryer Water Inlet. "
2. Lift Spin Dryer Splash Lid and Stability Cover. Turn
faucet to desired temperature and fill dryer tub. You
may also fill it directly with a bucket or pitcher.
3. Insert garments into Spin Dryer, only a few articles at
a time, loosely and evenly. Do not pack articles in
tightly, to allow free movement during drying process."
4. Place the Balance Guide into dryer tub and push
down, until it touches the garments. Close Stability
Cover and Splash Lid.
5. Turn Spin Timer dial to “5”.Allow dryer to spin, rinsing
clothing in the water. The unit’s automatic pump will
push water through drain hose. You may also use the
“Drain” setting on Wash Selector, for an extra boost.
6. The unit will begin to wick water away from the
garments and automatically drain it through hose.
7. Repeat rinse cycle as needed.

* If you prefer, you can rinse by leaving garments in
the Washer. Simply re-fill the tub, repeat wash cycle
and drain water until it runs clear from the hose.
SPIN DRY CYCLE
NOTE: IF DESIRED, IT IS SAFE TO RUN THE SPIN DRYER
AND THE WASHING MACHINE AT THE SAME TIME.
1. After garments have been throughly rinsed, do not re-
fill Spin Dryer tub with water. Place garments loosely
and evenly spaced within the tub.
2. If needed, place Balance Guide on top of garments.
Close Stability Cover and Splash Lid.
3. Turn Spin Timer to “5”, and allow Spin Dryer to wick
water away. The unit’s automatic pump will push water
through drain hose. You may also use the “Drain”
setting on the Wash Selector, for an extra boost."
4. When the cycle is complete, remove garments and
hang on a clothing rack or clothesline to finish drying.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
•Clean the surface of your portable washer regularly with soft fabric. The fabric may be lightly damp, if
you wish.
•Clean the inner tub regularly, especially immediately after washing starched or bleached laundry. You
may fill the wash basin with water only and run a wash cycle, then drain the water to assist with this
cleaning.
•Clean the debris filter in the inlet valve or inlet hose regularly in order to prevent it from clogging. Push
the tab of the filter in a downward motion, then pull the filter door open to remove trapped particles.
Then, close the door until the tab lock clicks in place.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Occasionally, problems may arise that are minor in nature and which don’t require a service call. Use this
troubleshooting guide for possible solutions. If the unit continues to operate improperly, call an authorized
service repair shop or Arksen’s Customer Service line (949) 344-2488 for assistance.
