positioned, the next step is placing the bowl. The
bowl needs to be picked up with 2 people be

like this (hier schets of afbeelding). The ashtray

First use
Before using the Artola products you need to burn oil into the plate. This process protects the plate from
corrosion and serves as a nonstick layer.
To get the best result start with a small fire for 30 minutes, so the plate can warm up gently. The material
will change it’s shape during the heating process and when this process is done with caution the shape will
change more gradually.
After this step you can inflame the fire and really heat up the plate. When the grillplate feels warm (Warn-
ing: never touch the plate with bare hands) you add oil with a low smoking point to create the protection
and nonstick layer (we advise to use the special Artola oil no. 1 burning oil).

During use:
The Artola products are versatile in use and can be used for:
1. Grilling on the plate (plancha, tepanyaki)
The grill plate is the most important part of our product. It can be used to sear and cook meat, but
it is especially well suited for the grilling of fish and vegetables.
2. Flame Grilling
This can be done on the grill grid in combination with the adjustable interface.
3. Stir Fry
Stir frying is a nice combintation with grilling. You can use the wok holder in combination with the
interface and a wok to stir fry all kinds of dishes and especially vegetables.
4. (Cheese) Fondue
When you are up for something different or just as an addition to your culinairy experience you can
add a chesse fondue (or any kind of fondue) to the Artola products. You only need a suitable pan
that fits in the wok holder.
5. Smoking
If you want to slow cook and add a smokey flavour to your products, you can ut the ingredients on
a small cedar wood board. If you place the board on the grill grid you can adjust the amount of heat
and smoke your product will be exposed to.

After use
Before extinguishing the fire it’s recommended to clean the grill plate first. When the plate is still searing
hot the residue of the products and the oil will come off very easily.
Cleaning and Maintenance
1. The Artola products can be cleaned very easily by pouring water on the plate. Because of the im
mense heat of the plate the water will boil instantly and create globules that will loosen the residue
and fat from the plate. Now use the special Artola scraper to scrape the residue from the plate into
the fire. Repeat if necessary.
2. Oil again by sprinkling oil on the plate and spread out with a cloth or a paper towel.
3. After finishing this step you can continue to exctinguish the fire by using the Artola Fire Quencher
or just let the fire burn out on itself.
4. When te Artola product is completly cooled donw you can continue with the removal of the ash by
taking out the ash tray and dispose of the ashes in the therefor assigned bin or place. Use a brush
to brush the ashes into the ashtray and to clean the bowl completly.
5. If all the steps are done you can cover the Artola product with the Artola Cover Lid. Just put a little
oil on the plate so the Cover Lid will be fixed on the grill plate.
This is the only maintenance our product requires. When left outside the product will develop a natural rust
patina (if not coated). This patina will protect the steel from further corrosion. The grill plate can develop
some rust build up. This can be sanded away with the use of steelwool or coarse sandpaper.

Good to know
Rusty appearance
The Artola products are made from Cor-Ten steel, this steel will turn rusty if not coated. Our customerspre-
fer to receive the product with the rusty appearance allready formed. We try to speed up this process dur-
ing manufacturing, so that the products will arrive with a rusty appearance. Nevertheless we can’t prom-
isea solid rust patina when the products arrive. Artola sells a special rust accelerator if needed. Be aware
the rust on the products is new so it can easily rub off. Be careful to avoid stains on your hands, Furniture,
clothes, wall surfaces and floors. Especially (light) floor surfaces should be covered to prevent the rust
runoff to smudge the floor surface.
