DLC SUMMARY
TheDualLayerControlModulegivesyoucontroloveranalogueand
digitalworldsfromtheheartoftheconsole.Intheanaloguelayer,
itprovidesintuiveanalogueautomaonaswellasanextrasetof
lineinputsandoutputs.IntheDAWlayer,itprovides a powerful
arrayofDAWcontrolfeatures,rightatyourngerps.Theseinclude
eightbankablefaders,transportcontrol,trackrecordenable,pan
control,auxsends,andplug-inmanipulaon.
TheeightchannelsofanalogueVCAautomaon,letyouaddmovement
andnessetoyourconsolemixbalances.TheVCAscanbeindividually
routedtosubgroups1-8orindependentlineinputsandoutputs,that
canbepatchedtoanyinsertpointontheconsoleforulmateexibility.
VCAautomaoniscontrolledviaourproprietaryFaderlinkplugin
(64-BitAAX,VST &AudioUnit,supportedbyallpopularDAWs),
allowingyoutorecord,editandrecalleightchannelsofVCAautomaon
directlyfromyourDAWsession,providingvisualrepresentaonof
volumeandmutealteraons.
The DLC has the ability to jump between the analogue and DAW
layersatanymewithoutalteringyourlevels,lengyouquickly
adjustsengswithoutinterrupngyourworkow.TheDAWlayer
isconnectedviatheHUITM protocolandsupports:Cubase,Nuendo,
LogicProXandProTools.

PHYSICAL CONNECTION
To physicallyconnectDLCtoyourcomputer,
plugastandardCAT5Ethernetcableintothe
portlocatedabovetheDLCNetworksckeron
therearoftheconsole,andtheotherendinto
yourcomputer(orrouter/switch).
DLC CONNECT APP
To achievecommunicaonbetweenDLCand
theMac,theDLCConnectappisneeded.This
createsthenecessaryMIDIportsforyourDAW
toconnecttoDLC.Thisappcanbedownloaded
fromourwebsiteat:

Oncedownloaded,dragtheDLCConnecticon
intotheApplicaonfolder.

Itispossibletoopentheapplicaonautomacally

NETWORKING THEORY
Onanetwork,devicesmusthaveaunique“address”toensuretheycancommunicate,this
isknownasanIPaddress.Youwillneedtodecidewhetheryournetworkwillautomacally
assignIPaddressestoconnecteddevices,orifyouwillmanuallyassignthemyourself.
IfconnecngDLCtoyourcomputerdirectly,youwillmostlikelywanttosettheIPaddresses
manually,howeverifconnecngDLCtoalargernetwork,typicallytheIPaddresswillbe
automacallyassignedusing“DHCP”(youwillcommonlyhaveusedthiswithoutrealising
whenconnecngtothingslikeWiFinetworks).

Oncenetworksengshavebeennalised,
reboottheconsoleandthecomputer.On
reboong,DLCConnectshouldopenand
theconsoleshouldbelisted.Highlight
theconsolewithintheapp,andclickthe
connectbuon.
You rDLCmoduleshouldnowbe
connectedtoyourMacandreadyfor
conguraonasaHUIcontrolsurfaceand
analogueautomaonplaorm.
TheDLCconnectappiconinthemenubar
willdisplaytheconnecvitystatus,with
ablackiconindicangDLCisconnected,
andagreyedouticonindicangDLCis
disconnected.

startupappsforallusersofthecomputer.
RightclickinsidethewindowandpastetheDLC
Connectshortcut.DLCConnectwillnowopen
uponuserlogin.

Faderlink Installation
Faderlinkisasimpleandelegantsoluontotheproblemofintegranganalogueautomaon
withinDigitalAudioWorkstaonprojects,withouttheneedforadedicatedconsolecomputer.
FaderlinkpresentsyouwithaFaderandCutswitchwhichcanbeautomatedinthesamewayas
anyotherpluginparameterinyourworkstaon(seepage17).

-Doubleclickonthedownloadedletoopentheinstaller,thenfollowtheinstrucons.

Thisfaderisnotintheaudiopathoftheconsole

D.C. control voltage changes, which provides

parcularlyusefulforautomangthevolumeofa
signalpostanaloguedynamicsprocessing.

Foranalogueautomationfunctionality,first
ensuretheDLChastheAnalogueAutomaon
ModesettoFaderlinkintherstpageofthe
SetupMenu,thenfollowtheseinstruconsfor
eachDLCchannelyouwanttoautomate:
1. SetthedesiredaudioroungusingtheSource
andDestbuons.
2.InyourDAW,addaFaderlinkPlugininstance
toanytrack.Thiscanbeatrackwithorwithout
regionspresent.Ifautomangagroupfromyour
DAWoranindividualtrack,itwouldmakesense
toputtheFaderlinkpluginonthosetracksto
keepthingsorganised.Alternavelyasingle
trackcouldbe created witheightinstances
ofFaderlink,sothatallautomationdatais
containedonthesametrack.
3.SettheDevicetoASP8024-DLCandensure
thattheMIDIInandOuthaveautomacallyset
toASP8024-DLCAutomaon.
4.SetthechannelnumbertotheVCAfaderyou
wanttocontrolontheDLCmodule,andname
thechannelbydoubleclickingontheScribble
Stripandtypingthename.
5. EnsurethatAutoSafeandUnityaredisengaged
onthechannel.
6.FortheDAWtrackthatcontainstheFaderlink
plugin(s),settheautomaonmodeappropriately
(e.g.Touch,LatchorWrite).
7.Beginplaybackandridethefader(andcut)
towritetheautomaon.
