VENUE | S6L Stage I/O Rack Supports

This guide shows you how to attach the included rack ears to the following VENUE | S6L I/O units:
Stage 64
Stage 32
Stage 16
Local 16
• On all units, the ears can be installed on the front or the back of the rack depending on the desired orientation.
• Stage 64 instructions also show how to mount the rack into a flight case, furniture or other rack housing.
• Stage 16 instructions show how to configure the ears for rack mounting or to be used as handles.

Stage 64
This section shows you how to attach the included rack ears to the VENUE | Stage 64 I/O rack and mount the rack into a flight case, fur-
niture or other rack housing. The ears can be installed on the front or the back of the rack depending on the desired orientation.
Components
Mounting the Stage 64 utilizes the following components:
• (2) Stage 64 rack ears
• (18) Rack ear mounting screws (nine per rack ear) and washers
• (8) Rack screws and washers (four per side)
• Flight case, furniture or other enclosure (not included)
Avoid overheating. Be sure to maintain proper air ventilation when installing the device in a rack, and do not block the Stage 64 fans
while operating the device.

Attaching the Rack Ears
The included rack ears can be installed on the front or the back of the Stage 64. The front of the rack is where all the I/O connectors are
located, and the back of the rack is where the power switches and associated AC connectors are located.
To attach the rack ears to Stage 64:
1Locate the rack ears and the rack ear mounting screws, included in the Stage 64 box.
2For forward mounting, do the following:
• Position one of the rack ears at the front of the rack, making sure it is oriented correctly for right-front or left-front location, as ap-
propriate.
• Insert nine rack ear screws with washers in the positions indicated in the figure below, and tighten to secure the rack ear to the rack.
• Repeat the same procedure to attach the other rack ear to the other side of the rack using the other nine screws.
3For reverse mounting, do the following:
• Position one of the rack ears at the back of the unit, making sure it is oriented correctly for right-back or left-back location, as ap-
propriate.
• Insert the nine washers and rack ear screws in the positions indicated in the figure below, and tighten to secure the rack ear to the
rack.
• Repeat the same procedure to attach the other rack ear to the other side of the rack using the other nine screws.

Mounting Stage 64 in a Case
The Stage 64 can be installed in a standard 19-inch road case. When the Stage 64 is forward-mounted in a case, its audio connectors face
the front of the case.
When the Stage 64 is reverse-mounted, its fans, power switches and AC connectors face the front of the case.
To mount the Stage 64 in a case:
1Team lift the Stage 64 and slide it into position from the front of its case or enclosure.
2Align the holes in the rack ears to the appropriate holes in the rack rails attached to the case, and secure the Stage 64 using the in-
cluded rack screws and corresponding washers (four per side).

To make it easier to align the screw holes, tip the entire flight case on its back (after sliding Stage 64 in).

Stage 32
This section shows you how to attach the included rack ears to the VENUE | Stage 32 I/O rack to mount the rack into a flight case, fur-
niture or other rack housing.
The ears can be installed on the front or the back of the rack depending on the desired orientation. The front of the rack is where all the
I/O connectors are located, and the back of the rack is where the power switches and associated AC connectors are located.
Components
Mounting the Stage 32 utilizes the following components:
• (2) Stage 32 rack ears
• (16) Rack ear mounting screws (eight per rack ear) and washers
The included rack ears can be installed on the front or the back of the Stage 32. The front of the rack is where all the I/O connectors are
located, and the back of the rack is where the power switches and associated AC connectors are located.
To attach the rack ears to Stage 32:
1Locate the rack ears and the rack ear mounting screws, included in the Stage 32 box.
2Position one of the rack ears at the front or back of the rack.
3Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, insert 8 of the included M4X10 rack ear screws with washers in the positions indicated in the figure
below, and tighten to secure the rack ear to the rack.
4Repeat for the other side.
Avoid overheating. Be sure to maintain proper air ventilation when installing the device in a rack, and do not block the Stage 32 fans
while operating the device.

Stage 16
Stage 16 can be rack-mounted, or it can be used freestanding. If you are using Stage 16 freestanding, you can configure the rack ears to
function as handles. Rubber edging protects the box when used freestanding. To ensure proper airflow, make sure the vents on either
side of Stage 16 are always exposed.
To configure the Stage 16 rack ears as handles:
1Using a 3/32-inch hex wrench or hex driver, remove the 16 hex screws (eight per side) that secure the rack ears to the Stage 16.
2Remove the rack ears from the Stage 16.

3Replace the rack ears on the Stage 16 so they function as handles, lining up the screw holes on the handles with the screw holes on
the Stage 16, and replace the 16 screws (eight per side).
Replacement screws are provided with the Stage 16 in case any screws are lost.

Local 16
This section shows you how to attach the included rack ears to the VENUE | Local 16 I/O rack to mount the rack into a flight case, fur-
niture or other rack housing.
The ears can be installed on the front or the back of the rack depending on the desired orientation. The front of the rack is where all the
I/O connectors are located, and the back of the rack is where the power switches and associated AC connectors are located.
Components
Mounting the Local 16 utilizes the following components:
• (2) Local 16 rack ears
• (6) Rack ear mounting screws (3 per rack ear) and washers
The included rack ears can be installed on the front or the back of the Local 16. The front of the rack is where the status LEDs are located,
and the back of the rack is where the power switches, associated AC connectors, network connectors, and I/O connectors are located.
To attach the rack ears to Local 16:
1Locate the rack ears and the rack ear mounting screws, included in the Local 16 box.
2Position one of the rack ears at the front or back of the rack.
3Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, insert 3 of the included M4X10 rack ear screws with washers in the positions indicated in the figure
below, and tighten to secure the rack ear to the rack.
4Repeat for the other side.
Avoid overheating. Be sure to maintain proper air ventilation when installing the device in a rack, and do not block the Local 16 fans
while operating the device.
