Batteries and Battery Charging
Batteries for this tool are supplied in a low-charge condition for shipping reasons. • A battery that is
new or has not been used for a long period does not charge to full capacity until after approximately
5 charge/discharge cycles. • Do not recharge batteries after using them if they are not to be used for an
extended period of time. • Recharge batteries only as and when required. • If the battery is warm after use,
allow it to cool before charging, otherwise it may not fully charge.
The battery packs can be recharged again and again. However, rechargeable batteries eventually need to
be replaced. A significantly reduced working period after charging indicates that the battery is no longer
serviceable and should be replaced. Discard old batteries in an environmentally responsible manner.
Charging
The battery charger has a charge status LED indicator:
•Red - Battery charging.
•Green - Battery fully charged.
1. Plug the battery charger power supply into a 240VAC mains
electrical outlet and switch the supply ON.
2. Slide the battery fully into the battery charger. The indicator LED on the battery charger will be red to
show the battery is charging. The indicator will become green when the battery is fully charged
(approximately 1 to 1.5 hours).
3. When the battery is fully charged, unplug the charger from power supply, then press and hold the
battery release button and simultaneously slide the battery pack from the charger.
Inserting and Removing the Battery Pack
Insert the battery pack into the tool handle until it "clicks" into place.
To remove the battery pack, press and hold the battery release button
(A) and simultaneously pull the battery from the tool.
Battery Charge Status
The drill has 3 coloured indicators (B) for battery charge status –green, yellow and red. The charge status is
shown when the drill is operated (trigger (C) pulled). Status is:
•Green + Yellow + Red –Battery fully charged.
•Green + Yellow –Battery charge approximately 50%.
•Red –Battery close to fully discharged.

Operation
Changing Bits
1. Remove the battery from the tool or place the
forward/reverse selector in the centre "trigger
lock" position.
2. Hold the tool body firmly with one hand.
3. Rotate the outer ring of the chuck (A) left (anti-
clockwise) to open the chuck jaws.
4. Insert the bit into the chuck.
5. Rotate the outer ring of the chuck right (clockwise) to close the chuck jaws until the bit is
firmly clamped.
Selecting Speed Range and Controlling Speed
Actual speed is controlled by how much you pull the trigger. Pulling the trigger in fully will apply the
highest speed available for the currently selected range. • Do NOT change the speed selector while
the tool is running.
•Slide the speed selector switch (B) forward to select the lower
speed range (0 to 350 RPM). "1" can be seen on the speed
selector switch.
•Slide the speed selector switch (B) backward to select the
upper speed range (0 to 1300 RPM). "2" can be seen on the
speed selector switch.
Selecting Direction
When the forward / reverse selector (C) is in the middle position, the trigger is "locked". • The image
shows the tool in "forward" mode. • Do NOT change direction while the tool is running.
The chuck can rotate "forward" (right or clockwise) for drilling and for
screwing in / tightening. Similarly, the direction of rotation can be
"reverse" (left or anti-clockwise) for screwing out / loosening.
•To rotate forward, push the forward / reverse selector (C) in fully
from the right-side of the tool.
•To rotate in reverse, push the forward / reverse selector (C) in fully
from the left-side of the tool.

Selecting Mode and "Torque"
For drill mode operation, "full torque" should be used –this is the " " setting (circled in the image).
• For impact drill mode, a suitable carbide-tipped masonry bit and "hammer action" must be used –this is the
"" setting (circled in the image). • For screwdriver mode operation, apply a torque setting that is suitable to
the fastener type and material. For example, smaller diameter screws or softer materials may require lower
torque than larger screws or harder materials. • Do NOT change the torque while the tool is running.
The drill has a range of "torque" settings that control how much
rotational force to apply before the internal clutch disengages the
chuck. This is used for screwing in fasteners, so you can adjust how
"tight" the fastener is set.
•To set torque, rotate the torque control ring (D) so the required
setting is next to the reference arrow (E). "1" is the lowest setting.
Guidelines for Use
Fully understand all operational safety warnings before using the tool.
Drilling
•Use the "full torque" setting ( ).
•Where possible, and especially on metals and smooth materials, "centre-punch" the hole location.
•Always hold the tool "square" to the face of the work surface. That is, drill straight. Do not apply
sideways pressure to elongate holes etc.
•Apply sufficient pressure to cause the drill to cut into the material. Do not use excessive force.
•Adjust speed as required –generally, start the hole at a slower speed until the drill is cutting, then
increase speed. Do not use excessive speed or you may over-heat and blunt the bit or cause excessive
wear in the tool. Use a speed that is suitable for the drill bit type and material being drilled –harder
materials and larger diameter bits require slower cutting speeds.
•When drilling through holes, place a piece of wood under the work-piece to reduce burring / tearing.
Impact (Hammer) Drilling
•Use the "hammer" setting ( ).
•Use carbide-tipped masonry bits only and run at high speed.
Screwing
•Use the correct screwdriver bit for the fastener head.
•Use a suitable torque setting for the fastener size and material being screwed into. Generally, smaller
diameter screws or softer materials may require lower torque than larger screws or harder materials.
•Apply sufficient pressure to prevent the screwdriver bit slipping from the screw head, especially when
using high torque.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Remove the battery from the tool before performing any maintenance. • The machine should
be cool enough to touch before performing maintenance activities. • Some maintenance
activities described may be beyond the scope of some users. For procedures that you are not comfortable
with or have the tools or experience for, have the unit serviced by a service centre or qualified technician.
•Clean the tool regularly with a soft cloth –do NOT use water, solvents, abrasives etc. Remove any
debris from the chuck and tool ventilation slots using a soft brush.
The following information may assist in identifying a problem and rectifying it.
Drill will not operate.
Possible Fault
Action
No voltage
Ensure the battery is charged and is correctly inserted.
Direction not correctly selected
Ensure that the direction selector is properly set.
Drilling / Screwing is poor.
Possible Fault
Action
Low voltage
Ensure the battery is charged.
Bit dull or damaged
Sharpen or replace drill bit.
Material too hard, cutting speed or
mode incorrect
Use correct drill bit for the material and operating mode. Adjust speed to suit drill diameter
and material hardness. For hammer drilling, use "hammer" mode and high speed.
Incorrect torque
Adjust torque to suit screw diameter and material.
Excessive vibration.
