CAUTIONS
•Never expose the handle unit or charger to water, rain, snow or mist.
•Do not charge the batteries in the presence of flammable gases or liquids.
•Do not allow the two positive (+) and negative (-) contact pins that stick out of the base of the lamp handle or the
top of the charger platform to touch each other, bend in to each other, or short together.
•Charge the lamp handle or charging platform with room or car temperature between 50ºF and 105ºF (10ºC ―
42ºC).
•Only use a 120V outlet for the AC power cord, and a 12V DC car outlet for the DC cord. Do not try to use an
engine generator, a step-up transformer or any other external power supply.
•Never try to charge non-rechargeable batteries with this charger.
•Do not try to repair or disassemble this charger or the handle battery packs. If you experience problems, call us
during normal business hours at the number listed elsewhere in this booklet.
•Do not dispose of dead battery packs in a fire or by burning.
•Do not recharge in direct sunlight.
•Young children should be supervised to assure that they do not play with the handle unit or charger platform.
CHARGING
1. Only use the Bayco battery pack bases and charging platforms.
2. Plug the charger platform into the power source using the proper cord: 120V AC wall plug or the 12V DC auto
adapter plug. Only charge the pack between 50ºF and 105ºF.
3. Simply plug the lamp or the platform into the proper power source.
4. Do not allow anything to cover the lamp or platform during recharging.
5. To use the recharging platform, turn the handle battery pack upside down and away from you, and press
the tabs into the locking cradles. You cannot make contact unless the pack is upside down and facing away
from you. Insert the handle pack down until it won’t go any further. Do not try to twist or force the battery pack onto
the charging platform.
6. The red indicator light will come on either the lamp or the platform when the pack is properly inserted on
the platform, and it will stay on until the pack is fully charged. The total time needed to recharge the pack will vary,
depending upon how charged the batteries are when you start. Even totally charged packs will charge for about 8
minutes before the red light goes off and the green light comes on.
7. The green light will come on when the battery pack is fully charged. The time required to recharge will be
between 20 and 140 minutes, but will average about 100 minutes. The green light indicates that the unit is not
being charged.
8. Don’t try to recharge a lamp or a battery pack that is already hot. When recharging a unit or a platform pack
that has just been used or a pack that has been in direct sunlight or other hot area for a while, let the pack cool
down before you recharge it.
9. Both the lamp and the charging platform will heat up while charging, but especially during the last 20 or 30
minutes of the charge. Both will cool down when the green light comes on.
10. Remove the battery pack from the platform when the green light comes on. The battery pack is completely
safe when mounted on the platform, but charging stops when the green light comes on.
11. Be sure to unplug the lamp or the charging platform from the power source when you’ve finished charging.
When you charge a new battery pack or a pack that has not been used for a long period of time, it may not accept a full
charge. This is normal and does not indicate a problem. Fully discharge the battery pack and then recharge it a couple of
times, and this will correct the condition.

TIPS TO EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR BATTERY PACK
•Recharge the unit or the pack BEFORE it is completely discharged. Don’t wait until the unit is completely
discharged to recharge the pack. Don’t wait until the lamp starts to dim.
•Recharge after each use, whether the unit is fully discharged or not.
•Don’t store the lamps or battery packs in heat above 110ºF. It’s best to store them out of the sunlight at room
temperatures below 82ºF.
•Don’t leave the battery packs in the trunk of your car. It might be too hot or too cold.
•Never recharge a hot lamp or battery pack.
•Don’t recharge the lamp or battery pack in direct sunlight.
•Don’t leave the lamps or battery packs sitting in the trunk of your car in the summer months.
