WARNING!

Before using the Bergman® Short and Tall Hedge Trimmer for the first time, please be certain to read these
instructions carefully.
Check that the voltage indicated on the rating plate corresponds with that of the local supply before connecting
the appliance to the power supply.
This appliance must not be used by children or any persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
safe use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
Children shall not play with the appliance.
Cleaning and user maintenance must be done by a competent adult.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a competent person only.
The Bergman® Short and Tall Hedge Trimmer is intended for domestic use only. It should not be used for
commercial applications.
This appliance contains no user serviceable parts. All repairs should only be carried out by a qualified person.
Improper repairs may place the user at risk of harm, and will invalidate any guarantee.
Take care not to damage the power cord by pinching or contact with sharp edges. Check the appliance regularly
for any possible damage. If you see signs of possible damage to the power cord, do not use the appliance.
Do not operate the appliance after a malfunction or if it has been dropped or damaged in any way.
Do not submerge the appliance; plug or power cord in water or any other liquids. Do not handle the appliance
or plug with damp or wet hands.
Keep the appliance and cord out of reach of children.
No liability can be taken for any damage or harm that occurs in the event of improper use or incorrect handling.

GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY INFORMATION

Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in
electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Please retain this manual for future reference.
This pole Hedge Trimmer is for domestic use only. It is not
intended for commerical use.
This tool is not intended for use by persons (including
children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental
capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they
have been given supervision and instruction concerning the
safe use of the tool by a person responsbile for their safety.
Keep out of reach of children. Children should be supervised
to ensure they do not play with this tool.
BEFORE FIRST USE
Makesure your work area is clean and well lit.
Do not operate power tools near flammbale liquids, gases or
dust.
Take percautions to ensure childern and bystanders are kept
away while operating a power tool.
Dress appropriaely. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery.
Hair should be tied back and clothing and gloves kept away
from moving parts to ensure they do not become caught in
the tool.
Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye
protection. Protective equipment such as a dust mask,
nonskid safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection should
be used as appropraite.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the
plug in any way. Do not use adaptor plugs.
Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water
entering power tools will increase the risk of electric shock.
Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying,
pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep the cord away
from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts. Damaged or
entangled cords must be repaired or replaced by a
professional.
RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY
Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common
sense when operating power tools. Do not use power tools
when you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol
or medication. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and
balance at all times.
If the hedge trimmer is not functioning properly, has been
dropped, damaged, left outdoors or immersed in liquid, do
not use. Contact Customer services.
Be aware of unintentional starting a power tool. Ensure the
power switch is in the off position for connecting to the
power source.
Disconnect the plug from the power source before making
an adjustments, changing accessoeries, cleaning, or storing.
STOREAGE AND MAINTENANCE
Regular check external nuts and fixings have not become
loose during use.
Ensure your power tool is clean and dry before storing.
Always store tools out of reach of children.

ATTACHING THE AUXILIARY HANDLE
ATTACHING THE SAFETY GUARD
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
The work area should be clean and tidy. Be aware of any
obstacles or hazards. When using the telescopic attachment
be aware of others around you and never swing the trimmer
round switched on.
Maintain proper footing and balance and be careful not to
overreach. Always wear safety googles, non-slip footwear and
gloves when using the hedge trimmer.
Before using your hedge trimmer check the hedge you plan to
trim for debris or large branches and ensure they are removed
before you start.
Hold the tool firmly in both hands and turn the tool on by
squeezing the necessary triggers/switches (See Telescopic
Attachments for details on which switches and triggers need
to be used in each mode)
Always hold the hedge trimmer with one hand on the front
handle (14) and one on the rear handle (1). Never hold the
tool by the safety guard (11).
Releasing the trigger or switch will turn the tool off. Never
walk with the tool switched on. Always replace the blade
safety cover when not in use.
CAUTION: Be careful of falling debris when trimming.

CLEANING, MAINTENANCE & STORAGE
Clean the exterior of the hedge trimmer thoroughly using a
soft brush and cloth.
Remove all debris, especially from the ventilation slots on the
motor housing.
CAUTION: Do not use water or solvents. Do not use abrasive
materials to clean the hedge trimmer.
WARNING! Do not immerse any part of this tool in water or
any other liquid.
Before storing, clean and lubricate the dual action cutting
blades (7) and replace the protective blade safety cover (8).
IMPORTANT: Always fit the blade safety cover when
transporting or storing the hedge trimmer.
Store the hedge trimmer in a secure, dry place out of reach of
children.
Do not place other objects on top of the hedge trimmer when
storing.
CAUTION: Storing the tool outside in a damp environment
such as garden shed may cause certain components such as
the blades to corrode.
BLADE MAINTENANCE
WARNING! Always wear gloves when handling or cleaning the dual action cutting blade.
Before use, visually check the condition of the cutting edges of
the dual action blades (7) and tightness of the bolts.
Always clean the blades after operation and coat with
lubrication oil or spray. This will prevent them from becoming
seized or corroded during storage.
During cutting periods of 15mins or longer, it is recommended
that you lubricate the blades in order to improve cutting
performance.
CAUTION: A lack of lubrication can severely affect the hedge
trimmers run time and may cause the blade to overheat.
IMPORTANT: When not using, ensure the dual action cutting
blades have been lubricated and are covered with the blade
safety cover (8) provided. Failure to do so may cause the
blades to corrode and will severely reduce the cutting
performance.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
PROBLEM
SOLUTION
TOOL DOES NOT POWER ON
Check that the plug is correctly connected to the power
source
Check the condition of the fuse in plug
BLADES DO NOT MOVE
The blade may be blocked. Power off, remove the plug
from the power source and remove the blockage
The blade may have seized. Contact customer services.
POOR CUTTING PERFORMANCE
The blades may be damaged. Contact customer services
BLADES BECOME HOT
The blades have not been lubricated. Remove the plug
from the power source and lubricate the blades with
light machine oil as required.
BLADES LUDDERING OR VIBRATING ABNORMALLY
There is a blockage. Remove the plug from the power
source and safely remove the blockage.
