PURPOSE OF USE
The air drill can be used for the following purposes:
• Drillingandcountersinking.
• Theairdrillcanalsobeusedinopenplacesexposedtowaterandair.
The air drill must not be used for the following operations:
• Threadingand/ortapping.
• Screwingand/orunscrewing.
• Theairdrillmustnotbeusedinenvironmentscontainingpotentiallyexplosiveatmospheres.
• Thetriggermustnotbelockedwithadhesivetapeorclamps.
WORK AREA SAFETY
•Bewareofbothsurfacesthatmaybecomeslipperyduetotheuseofthemachineandthedangeroftrippingovertheairhose.
•Whileusingthepneumatictoolforjobsperformedhighfromtheground,takeallnecessaryprecautions,toeliminateorminimizerisk
tootherworkers,followingtheaccidentalfallingofanytools(forexample,isolationoftheworkareaandpropersigns).
Donotoperatethepneumatictoolinenvironmentscontainingpotentiallyexplosiveatmospheres,becausesparksmaybe
generated,whichcanignitethedust,fumesorgases.
Avoidcontactwithliveequipment:thepneumatictoolisnotinsulated,andcontactwithlivepartscancauseelectricshocks.
Tondanyhiddenpowersupplylines,usesuitablesearchtoolsorcontactthelocalpowersupplycompany.Contactwith
electriclinescancauseresandelectricshocks.Damaginggaslinescausestheriskofexplosion.Penetratingawater
pipewillresultinseverematerialdamage.
Keepchildrenandbystandersawayfromyourworkplacewhileoperatingthepneumatictool.Distractionsfromother
peoplecancauseyoutolosecontroloverthepneumatictool.
PNEUMATIC TOOL SAFETY
• Donotpointtheairowtoyourselforotherpeople.Compressedaircancauseseriousinjury.
• Checktheconnectionsandtheairsupplylines.Allunits,couplersandhosesshouldconformtotheproductspecicationsin
termsofpressureandairvolume.Toolowpressureimpairsthefunctionofthepneumatictool;toohighpressurecancause
damageand/orinjury.
• Donotbendortightenanyhoses;avoidusingsolventsandsharpedges.Keepthehosesawayfromheat,oilandrotating
parts.Immediatelyreplaceanydamagedhose.Adefectivefeedpipemaycauseuncontrolledmovementsofthecompressed
airpipe.Raiseddustorchipsmaycauseeyeinjury.Makesurethatthehoseclampsarealwayssecuredrmly.
PERSONNEL SAFETY
• Stayalert;watchwhatyouaredoing.Donotusethepneumatictoolwhiletiredorundertheinuenceofdrugs,alcohol,or
medication.

• Always use the following personal protective equipment:
-Eyeprotection
-Safetyshoes
-Hearingprotection
-Protectiveglovesagainstphysicalagents
-Anti-vibrationgloves,tobewornfollowingaspeciallyconductedsurveyofthedailyexposureofthehand-armsystemtovibration
-Protectivemaskagainstphysicalagentsaccordingtothevaluesfoundintheenvironmental/industrialhygienesurvey.
• Makesureyouareinasafeposition,keepingproperbalanceatalltimes.Asafeworkingpositionandaproperbodyposture
enablebettercontrolofthepneumatictoolinunexpectedsituations.
• Donotwearlooseclothingorjewellery.Keepyourhair,clothingandglovesawayfrommovingparts.Looseclothing,jewellery,
andlonghaircangetcaughtinmovingparts.
• Donotdirectlyinhaletheexhaustair,andpreventitfromgettingintoyoureyes.Theexhaustairofthepneumatictoolcan
containwater,oil,metalparticlesandimpurities,whichmaycausehazards.
PNEUMATIC TOOL USE AND CARE
• Useclampingdevicesoravicetosecureandsupporttheworkpiece.Holdingtheworkpiecebyhandoragainstyourbodywill
notallowforsafeoperationofthepneumatictool.
• Donotoverloadthepneumatictool.Usethepneumatictoolintendedforyourworkonly.
• Alwayscheckthatthemachineisfreefromdefects.DonotuseapneumatictoolthathasadefectiveOn/Offswitch.Apneumatic
toolthatcannolongerbestoppedorstartedisdangerousandmustberepaired.
• Disconnecttheairsupplybeforemakingadjustments,changingaccessories,orplacingthepneumatictoolaside.Thissafety
measurepreventsaccidentalstartingofthepneumatictool.
• Storeidlepneumatictoolsoutofthereachofchildren.Donotallowpersonsunfamiliarwiththeseinstructionstooperatethe
pneumatic tool.
• Maintainthepneumatictoolwithcare.Checkformisalignmentorbindingofmovingparts,breakageordamageofpartsandany
otherconditionthatmayaffecttheoperationofthepneumatictool.Havedamagedpartsrepairedbeforeusingthepneumatic
tool.
• Keepcuttingtoolssharpandclean.Properlymaintainedcuttingtoolswithsharpcuttingedgesarelesslikelytobindandare
easiertocontrol.
• Donotmodifythepneumatictool.Thiscanreducetheeffectivenessofsafetymeasuresandincreaseoperatorrisk.
• Havethepneumatictoolrepairedonlythroughatrainedrepairpersonandonlyusingoriginalreplacementparts.
AIR DRILL SAFETY
• Makesurethatthenameplateisreadable;getareplacementnameplatefromthemanufacturer,ifneedbe.
• Ifthecuttingtoolortheworkpieceshouldbreak,loosepartsmaybethrownathighspeed.
• Operatorsandmaintenancepersonnelshouldbephysicallyabletohandletheweightandpowerofthepneumatictool.
• Itisimportanttobepreparedforunexpectedmovementsofthepneumatictoolresultingfromajammedorbrokencuttingtool.
Maintainarmgriponthepneumatictoolandpositionyourbodyandarmstoallowyoutoresistsuchmovements.These
precautionscanpreventinjuries.
• The pneumatic tool may get jammed if:
-Thepneumatictoolisoverloaded
-Thecuttingtoolgetsjammedintheworkpiece
-Thecuttingtoolthoroughlycrossestheworkmaterial
• Keepyourhandsawayfromthechuckandcuttingtool:youmayhurtyourself.
• Makesurethatthedirectionofrotationoftheairdrillistforthecuttingtoolbeingused.
• Turnoffthetoolincaseofairsupplyfailureorlowoperatingpressure.Checktheoperatingpressure;turnonthetoolagainwhen
optimaloperatingpressureisresumed.
• Whenusingthepneumatictool,theoperatorcanexperiencediscomfortinthehands,arms,shoulders,orneckarea.Adopta

comfortableposture,andavoidawkwardoroff-balancedpostures,orchangeposturetohelpavoiddiscomfortandfatigue.
Caution:Ifthepneumatictoolisusedoveraprotractedperiodoftime,partofthetoolandthecuttingtoolmaybecomehot.
Wearprotectivegloves.
Dustandfumeshazards:Dependingonthetypeofmaterialbeingworked,thefumesgeneratedwhileoperatingthe
pneumatictoolcancausediseasesinhumans.Anappropriateenvironmentalhygienesurveyisrequiredtodeterminethe
typeanddegreeofprotectionofthepersonalprotectiveequipmenttousefortherespiratorytract.
Usingthepneumatictoolontheworkpiecegeneratesnoise,whichmayproveharmfultotheexposedpersonnel.
Aproperphonometricsurveyisrequiredtodeterminethepersonalhearingprotectiveequipment(hearingprotection)touse.
Ifaspeciallyconductedsurveysuggeststhatthedailyexposuretovibrationgeneratedfromthepneumatictoolexceedsthe
limitvalueundertheregulationsinforceintherespectivecountry,anti-vibrationglovesmustbeworn.
• Ifyounoticethattheskinofyourngersbecomesnumb,turnswhite,tinglesorhurts,stopworkingwiththepneumatictool,inform
youremployerandseekmedicaladvice.
• Donotmakethedrillbitjumpontheworkpiece:thismayresultinsignicantlyincreasedvibration.
• Holdthepneumatictoolwithanottoormyetsecuregrip,compliantwiththerequiredhandreactionforces.
• Nevercarrythepneumatictoolbythehose.

hygiene/risk analysis survey if the values exceed the limits under current regulations.

Air supply connection
Forcorrectuseofthepneumatictool,alwayskeeptoamaximumpressureof6.2bar,asmeasuredatthetoolinlet.
Feedthepneumatictoolwithclean,condensate-freeair(picture 2-b).Excessivelyhighpressureorhumidityinsupplyairresults
inshorterlifeforthemechanicalpartsandmaydamagethetool.
USE
Start / Stop
Tostartthepneumatictool,pressthetrigger(picture 2-a),andkeepitpressedduringthejobtobeperformed.
Releasingthetriggerwillcausethepneumatictooltostopwithin2seconds.
Checkthepositionofthereverseleverbeforeoperatingthepneumatictool,soastoknowthedirectionofrotation.
Setting direction of rotation
Thepneumatictoolcanrotatebothclockwiseandanticlockwise.Selectthedirectionofrotationthroughthereverselever
(picture 3c-4c):

“R”REVERSEanticlockwise-seenfromtheoperator’sside
Chuck
Thechuckisself-locking.Fitinthedrillbitasfollows:
• Manuallylocktherearnutofthechuck(picture 5-e).
• Manuallyrotatethefrontnutanticlockwise(picture5-d),andopenthechuckuntilthedrillbittsin.
• Fitintherequireddrillbit.
• Manuallyrotatethefrontnutclockwise,untilthechuckislocked.
Replacethedrillbitasfollows:
• Manuallylocktherearnutofthechuck.
• Manuallyrotatethefrontnutanticlockwise,toreleasethedrillbitfromthechuck.
• Fitintherequireddrillbitandmanuallyrotatethefrontnutclockwise,untilthechuckislocked.
Always disconnect air supply before tting in cutting tools or making adjustments; this precaution will prevent the
pneumatic tool from being accidentally started.
Lubrication
Thepneumatictoolmustbeconnectedtoalter-lubricatorunit(werecommendBetaitem1919F1/4)providedwithan
air-oilmicrofogmixer,setattwodropsperminute.Thiswillresultinahigh-performingtoolandwear-resistantmechanicalparts.

DISPOSAL
Thepneumatictool,accessoriesandpackagingshouldbesenttoawastedisposalcentre,inaccordancewiththelawsinforce
inyourcountry.
WARRANTY
ThistoolismanufacturedandtestedinaccordancewithcurrentEUregulations,andiscoveredbya12-monthwarranty
forprofessionaluseora24-monthwarrantyfornonprofessionaluse.
Wewillrepairanybreakdownscausedbymaterialormanufacturingdefectsbyxingthedefectivepiecesorreplacingthem
atourdiscretion.
Shouldassistanceberequiredonceorseveraltimesduringthewarrantyperiod,theexpirydateofthiswarranty
willremainunchanged.
Thiswarrantywillnotcoverdefectsduetowear,misuseorbreakdownscausedbyblowsand/orfalls.Inaddition,
thiswarrantywillnolongerbevalidifanychangesaremade,orifthepneumatictoolisforcedorsenttothecustomer
serviceinpieces.
Thiswarrantyexplicitlyexcludesanydamagetopeopleand/orthings,whetherdirectorconsequential.
