5. How to operate the charger
The Unite Co kpit Ra k an be mounted into a 19" ra k. It is used for harging the re hargeable batteries
inside the Unite transmitters and re eivers as well as transmitting the pairing information from the
transmitter to the re eivers.
The Unite CR-12P version has 3 harging units, ea h with 4 harging ompartments so that a maximum of
12 bodypa k transmitters or re eivers an be harged simultaneously.
5.1 Rac mounting
• The harger is provided with holes on the le and right hand side for 19" ra k mounting.
• Inse the harger into the 19" ra k and tighten it with four s rews (not in luded in the delivery).
Warning!
• When inalling the harger into a 19" ra k or with other devi es into a ra k, the ambient temperature, the
me hani al ress and the ele tri al potentials will be dierent than for devi es that and separately.
• If you inall more than one harger into a ra k, you should make sure that there is an appropriate
ventilation (e.g. through ventilation panels), be ause of the heat between the hargers.
• The ambient temperature of the ra k mu not ex eed the temperature spe ified in the te hni al
spe ifi ations.
• Make sure that the ra k is not top-heavy with too many devi es and will not oveurn.
• When onne ting to the power supply read the information on the typeplate . Avoid overloading
ir uits. If ne essary, provide an over urrent prote tion.
5.2 Mains connection
• Conne t the IEC onne tor of the power able to the mains onne tion of the harger. Conne t the
power plug to a power outlet.
• Swit h on the harger via the on-o swit h .
• When not in use, swit h o the devi e.
• If the devi e is not used for a longer period of time, dis onne t the power plug from the power so ket.

5.3 Establish pairing
Transmitters and re eivers must be paired so that they an ommuni ate with ea h other. For a su essful
pairing the hannel name, group ID and audio en ryption key are required. The required audio en ryption
key is generated in the Unite CR o kpit ase or via the Unite Manager software and during the pairing
pro ess it is first stored on the o kpit ase and then it is transferred to the transmitter and re eiver in the
harging ompartments. In this ontext, please also note the position of the swit h on the o kpit ase. The
swit h must be set to the “Pair & Charge” position so that the pairing information an be transmitted from
the Unite CR to the transmitters and re eivers.
There are three different ways to pair the Unite transmitters with re eivers:
1. Via an individual harger (refer to the following des ription or system manual online).
2. Using the Unite Manager Software on a PC (refer to the Unite Manager Software manual or system
manual online).
3. Via dynami hannel sear h (refer to system manual online, hapter “Spe ial fun tions”.
The group ID refers to devi es that an be ombined to a virtual group. For example, all devi es of a
building, a travel group or a onferen e room.
Use with the group ID 150 - 256
By default, the transmitters and re eivers are supplied with the group ID 256. A ommon fa tory-set audio
en ryption key, whi h annot be hanged, is used for the group ID range of 150 to 256.
The audio en ryption key ensures additional se urity against unauthorised listening during the wireless
transmission. Due to the fa tory-set audio en ryption key the devi es within the group ID range of 150 to 256
an onne t to ea h other without pairing via the harger. In this ase re eivers an onne t to transmitters
via the dynami hannel sear h.
Example: Via the dynami hannel sear h, a re eiver whi h is set to the group ID 160 will find all transmitters
whi h are a tive and also set to the group ID 160. The re eiver an onne t to a transmitter without pairing.
The re eiver will not find transmitters beyond the set ID range of 160.

Unite CR – Co kpit Ra k
12
Attention: When using several transmitters (e.g. Unite AP4 and several Unite TP) with the same group ID at
the same time, make sure that the individual hannel names differ from ea h other! Otherwise this an
ause onne tion problems with the re eivers!
Use with the individual group ID 1 - 149
If several re eivers are to be divided into different groups with an individual en ryption, for ea h group an
individual group ID between 1 and 149 an be assigned. A separate audio en ryption key is generated for
an individual group ID in order to ensure additional se urity against unauthorised listening during the wire-
less transmission. This audio en ryption key is generated during the pairing pro ess, stored in the harger
and transmitted from the harger to the transmitter and re eiver, along with the hannel name and group
ID.
Sin e the audio en ryption key is not transmitted via radio, it annot be read out. This gives the system
maximum se urity against unauthorised listening.
The re eivers an only onne t to a transmitter with whi h they have been paired via the harger. If the
group ID is subsequently set manually on a re eiver whi h has not been paired, no onne tion an be
established to the transmitter with the en rypted group ID, be ause the re eiver does not have the audio
en ryption key.
In order to perform a simple pairing, pro eed as des ribed in the following:
1. Set the desired group ID and hannel name on the transmitter you want to use for pairing. Refer also to
hapter “Set group ID” and “Set hannel name” of the “Unite TP – Bodypa k Transmitter” qui k start guide.
2. Insert only one transmitter into the harging ompartment of the harger. If multiple transmitters are
inserted into the harging ompartments, the pairing will not start and the status indi ator on the
harger will display an error (see table). Alternatively, you an onne t the transmitter to the USB port ,
type C on the harger via a USB able.
3. Insert one or more re eivers into the harging ompartments of the harger to be paired with the
transmitter. You an also onne t another re eiver to the harger using the USB port . Remove all
re eivers that should not be paired. If there is no re eiver in the harging ompartments, the pairing
information is stored in the harger. This is used for later pairing without onne ting the transmitter to
the harger.

english
Unite CR – Co kpit Ra k 13
4. In order to transfer the pairing information from the transmitter to the re eivers in the slots and to the
harger itself for future pairing, press and hold the “Pair/Reset” button on the harger for more than
2 se onds. The status indi ator will flash yellow for several se onds if the pairing is su essful. The
status indi ator will then remain yellow be ause the pairing information is now also stored in the
harger.
5. If you want to pair other re eivers, remove the transmitter and all re eivers from the harger, set the
swit h to “Pair & Charge” and insert the unpaired re eivers into the harger. The pairing information
will be stored immediately in the unpaired re eivers. The status indi ator on the re eiver will flash yellow
rapidly while this happens.
6. Set the swit h ba k to “Charge only” when the pairing is finished, so that the harger an only be used
for re harging.
7. Swit h on the transmitter and one re eiver to he k that they have both been paired su essfully.
After a few se onds, the status indi ator on the re eiver should light up green and the display should
show the hannel name of the transmitter.
8. If you want to lear the stored pairing information, hold down the “Pair/Reset” button for more than
five se onds. The status indi ator will then remain permanently green.
9. Set the swit h to “Charge only”, when no automati pairing fun tion is needed.
