Levelsabove2500ppmcancauseheadachesandothersymptoms,andlevelsabove5000ppmaretoxic.
•DonotusethestandardGeneratorataltitudeshigherthan4,500ftabovesealeveliftheburnersareproducing
yellowame.
•TheGeneratorisdesignedtobeoperatedonlywhilehanging.DonotoperatetheGeneratoronatableorother
surfacebecausetheunitrequiresunrestrictedairowthroughthebottomoftheunit.
•DonotturnontheGeneratorwithoutreadingthe“Start-upProcedure”section.
Installation
1. Use the provided hardware to securely hang the Generator from an overhead support, such as a ceiling beam. Leave
atleast20”betweentheunitandthewall,ceiling,orothersurfacesorobjects.Installthescrewhooksintothe
overhead support, then use the S hooks to attach the chain to the unit and the screw hooks. Bend the S hooks
to secure the chain.
2.VerifytheGeneratorishanginglevel.Theunithasabuilt-intip-overswitch,apendulum-likesafetyfeaturethatwillturn
offthegassupplytotheburnersiftheunittipsover,fallsorisn’tlevel.
3.Connecttheprovidedgasregulatortotheliquidpropaneornaturalgassupply.ThegassupplytotheGenerator
mustberegulatedtoaverylowpressure(11”WCor½psiforliquidpropane,and4.5”WCor¼psifornaturalgas).
4.Useawrenchtoconnectoneendoftheincluded12’hosetothearettingontheunitandtheotherendtothe
provided gas regulator.
5.Toverifytheconnectionsaresecure,checkforleaksbysprayingasoapsolutionontothegasconnectionttingswiththe
shut-offvalveinopenposition.Ifbubblesappear,closetheshut-offvalve,retightentheconnectionandrepeat
the process.
LEDIndicators
TherearefourLEDindicatorsonthesideoftheGenerator,nearthepowerswitch.
•The“MainPowerON”LEDilluminateswhenthepowersupplyisconnectedandtheunitisturnedon.
•The“LockOutError”LEDashestoindicatetheignitioncontrolmodulehasshutoffthesolenoidvalvesandtheunitwill
not operate until it has been disconnected from and reconnected to power.
•The“PilotValveON”LEDilluminateswhentheignitioncontrolmoduleprovidesasparkfor15secondswhilethepilot
solenoidisactivated.TheLEDwillremainilluminatedduringoperation.
•The“MainValveON”LEDilluminateswhentheamesensordetectsaame.LEDremainsonduringoperation.
Start-upProcedure
1.Beforeinitiatingthestart-upprocedure,verifythepowerswitchisoffandtheGeneratorisnotpluggedin.
2.Pressurizethegaslinesbyopeningtheshut-offvalvesonthegassupply.Testforgasleaks,especiallyifthisistherst
time the unit has been used.
3.PlugtheGenerator’s24-VDCpowersupplyintoa120Vpowersource.
4.Connecttheotherendofthe24-VDCpowersupplycordtotheinletjackontheGenerator.
5.Turnthepowerswitchon.TheLEDlabeled“MainPowerON”willilluminate.
6.Theignitioncontrolmodulewillattempttoignitetheburnersforapproximately5seconds.TheLEDlabeled“PilotValve
ON” will illuminate.
7.Theburnersmaynotigniteinitiallyifthisisthersttimetheunitisbeingused.After30seconds,theunitwillattemptto
ignitetheburnersfor15seconds.Theunitwillcontinueuntiltheburnerignitesorforamaximumofveattempts.
8.Ifveunsuccessfulattemptsaremade,themodulewilllockitselfoutandtheLEDlabeled“LockOutError”
willilluminate.TurnofftheGenerator,closetheshut-offvalve,andwait5minutestoallowthegastodissipatebefore
attempting to restart the unit.
9.Whentheburnershaveignited,lookundertheunittoconrmtheameisblueandsteady,resemblingaowerorstar.
•Immediatelyturnofftheunitiftheameappearsyellow,excessivelylarge,orweakandlazy.Highgaspressure
orincorrectgastypemayleadtoyelloworexcessivelyhighames.Lowgaspressuremaycausesmallorweak
blueames.
•AftertheGeneratorhasbeentestedwithallburnersoperating,connecttheGeneratortoacontrollerortimer
thatwillcontrolthefrequencyanddurationoftheunit’soperation.

Warning

ModifyingCO2Output
ItisstronglyrecommendedtouseacontrollerortimingdevicetoproperlymanagetheoutputoftheGenerator.Ifthisis
notpossible,theGenerator’sCO2andheatoutputcanbemodiedbyusingtheprovidedbrasspipeplugstoreducethe
numberofactiveburners.Additionalplugsmaybepurchasedseparately.TheSpecicationstableshowsthesizeofthe
growing area that is appropriate for each model as well as how much CO2and heat are produced at maximum capacity.
EachburnerreplacedwithabrasspipeplugwillreducetheGenerator’soutputby2.65cuft/hrofCO2and2,263BTUfor
astandardliquidpropaneunit,2.7cuft/hrofCO2and2,767BTUforastandardnaturalgasunit,2.1cuft/hrofCO2and
1,788BTUforahighaltitudeliquidpropaneunit,and2.4cuft/hrofCO2and2,455BTUforahighaltitudenaturalgasunit.
TheCGLP-10andCGNG-10featuretheabilitytovaryCO2outputwiththeipofaswitch.Themainpowerswitchactivates
the two burners nearest the electrodes, and two additional selector switches independently activate two separate banks
offourburnerseach.Brasspipeplugsarealsoprovidedforfurthermodication.Todeterminetheappropriatenumberof
burnerstoactivateforthegrowingarea,dividethesizeofthegrowingarea(incubicfeet)by1,000.Forexample:Activate
six burners in a growing area of 6,000 cu ft.
ElectronicIgnitionControlModule
TheGenerator’selectronicignitioncontrolmoduleproducesasparkthatlightstheburners,eliminatingtheneedforanopen
pilotameandprovidingconsistent,controlledstarts.Themodulecontrolsdualredundantsolenoidvalves.
HighAltitudeGenerators
High Altitude Generators are specially designed to operate and compensate for reduced oxygen levels at altitudes higher
than4,500ftabovesealevel.BTUandCO2outputs will be reduced because there is less oxygen in the air at high altitudes
(seeSpecicationstable).
A High Altitude Generator may be operated at altitudes as low as 2,500 ft above sea level, but the unit should be tested
before use to ensure all burners ignite correctly and consistently.
FAQ
• Ismellgasaroundthegenerator,isthatnormal?
No.Turnoffthegassupplyimmediately.Donotturnonanyelectricaldevices.Ventilatetheareaandleaveuntilthegassmell
dissipates.Turnthegassupplybackon,thendeterminewheretheleakisbysprayingsoapywateronthegasconnections.Retighten
the connections where bubbles appear.
• Whatdoesaashing“LockOutError”LEDmean?
Thegassupplymayhavebeeninterrupted.“LockOut”isasafetyfeatureactivatedwhenthepilotdoesnotigniteafterveattempts.
Whentheproblemhasbeenxed,resetthe“LockOut”byturningthepowerofffor30secondsandthenbackon.Theunitwillreset
automatically after 20 minutes and attempt to ignite the burners.
• ShouldtheGeneratorproducebuzzingorsparkingnoises?
TheGeneratorwillproducebuzzingorsparkingnoisesonlywhentheunitisattemptingtoignitetheburners.
• Whatshouldtheameslooklike?
Theamesshouldburncleanandblue,resemblingaowerorstar.Donotoperatethegeneratoriftheameisyellow,excessively
large, or weak and lazy.
• Doesitmatterwhichburnersarereplacedwiththepipeplug?
Theburnernearesttheelectrodesmustremaininplace.Removeandreplaceburnersstartingwiththeburnerfarthestawayfrom
the electrodes.
Troubleshooting
• Whyisn’ttheGeneratorworkingandwhyaren’ttheLEDsilluminatingeventhoughthepowerisconnected?
Thetip-overswitchmayhavebeentriggered.Toreset,tilttheunittothesideandlistenforaclickingnoise.Ensuretheunitislevelto
avoid triggering the switch.
• Whywon’ttheburnersigniteeventhoughtheunitisattemptingtoignitethem?
Verifytheunitisgeneratingasparkandtheburnerclosesttotheelectrodesisactive.Ensuretherearenokinksortwistsinthegas
lineandthegassupplyisadequate.Turnoffthegasregulatorfor30seconds,thentryagain.
• Whyisn’ttheCO2levelincreasingtothedesiredppm?
Checkforairleakageinthegrowingarea.DonotoperateexhaustfanswhileCO2is being produced.
• Whatifthegrowingareagetstoohumidorhot?
Reducethesettingsonthecontrollerortimingdevice.Ifanoutputcontrolisnotbeingused,burnerscanberemovedandreplaced
with the provided brass pipe plugs.
