CONTENTS
The carton should contain:
1 x Personal CD player
1 x Headphones
1 x Operating manual
If any items are missing or damaged, contact your nearest Argos store for a replacement.
Have your receipt ready when you call. Retain the packaging. If you dispose of it, do so
having regards to any recycling regulations in your area.
BATTERY INSTA LL ATIO N
1. Lift the battery cover (located underneath the lid)
as shown by the arrow in the diagram (it is hinged
so it will not remove completely).
2. Insert 2 x AA batteries as shown. Take care to
match the + & - polarity markings.
3. Replace the batter y cover.

LASER SAFET Y
This unit employs a laser, only qualied service personnel should attempt repair.

CD OPER ATION
1. Slide the Open Door Lock (3) to open the lid.
2. Insert a CD, ensure the label is facing upwards. Close the lid.
3. Press the PLAY/ PAUSE button (4) to power up the unit.
4. The display will show “60 SEC“ & ‘ESP’ will ash briey while the unit reads the disc.
NOTE: If a disc is not readable then “Er” will be shown instead.
5. After a shor t period the display will show the last track number and the total play time
length of the entire CD.
6. The unit will then proceed to play the CD, starting from track 01.
Stopping Playback
1. Press the STOP button (5) once to stop playback.

Pausing Playback
1. To pause playback, press the PL AY/PAU S E button (4) during playback.
2. To resume playback press the P L AY/PAUS E button (4) once more.
Skipping Tracks
1. To skip to the next track, press the button (7) once. To skip further tracks, press the
button repeatedly until you reach the desired track.
2. To skip to the beginning of the current track press the button (6) once.
3. To skip to the previous track press the button (6) twice. Repeat to skip multiple tracks.
4. To fast forward or rewind a track (during playback only), press and hold either (7) or
(6) buttons, release when you reach the desired time to proceed playback.
Volume control
1. Slide the rotary volume control (2) right to increase and left to decrease the volume level.
Low Battery indicator
1. When the installed batteries reach a level where the voltage is becoming too low the
low battery warning icon will appear on the display.
2. When the batteries become too low for operation, the unit will shut down. And the
batteries will need replacing.
Anti Shock
The unit is equipped with a 60 second anti-shock buffer. When the unit is powered ON you
will see ESP appear on the display along with ‘60 SEC’.
1. During stable playback of a compatible disc the ‘ESP’ icon will remain solid (not ashing).
2. During periods of instability the ‘ESP’ icon will ash to indicate the anti-shock buffer is
being used. The ‘ESP’ icon will also ash while compiling the buf fer.
3. If the 60 second anti-shock buffer is exceeded, you will need to stabilise the unit until the
‘ESP’ icon stops ashing and remains solid.
To clean the CCD421ASP Personal CD player
• Ensure the unit is in standby.
• Wipe the case with a slightly moist, lint-free cloth.
• Do not use any cleaning uids containing alcohol, ammonia or abrasives.
• Do not spray an aerosol at or near the unit.
• Do not allow liquids to spill or objects to drop into any openings.
• Always use original packaging if it is necessary to transport the unit at any time.
●If this unit is used in a dusty environment, it may be necessary to have the unit serviced
at your local dealer periodically.
●It is not advisable to allow large deposits of dust to accumulate within the unit as it may
prevent adequate cooling. Similarly dust deposits which become damp can sometimes
lead to electrical problems which may cause severe damage to the delicate electronics
within this unit.
Handling Discs
To remove the disc from its storage case, press down on the centre of the case and lift the
disc out. Hold it carefully by the edges as shown below
Insert the disc into the unit with the label of the disc facing UP. Gently wipe the disc using
a soft cloth from the centre to the outer direction to remove dust, ngerprints or any other
particles on the disc surface. Never use chemicals, such as record sprays, anti-static
sprays, benzene or thinners to clean the CD. These chemicals can damage the disc surface
permanently.
Product Guarantee
This product is guaranteed against manufacturing defects for a period of
1 Year
This does not cover the product where the fault is due to misuse, abuse, use in
contravention of the instructions, or where the product has been the subject of unauthorised
modications or alterations, or has been the subject of commercial use.
In the event of a problem with the product within the guarantee period please return it to your
nearest Argos store.
If the item is shown to have had an inherent defect present at the time of sale, the store will
provide you with a replacement.

TROUBLESHOOTING
To avoid serious scratches on CD, keep them in the cases after each use. Scratches can
cause the laser pick-up skip in the future play. Do not place stickers or write anything on the
disc.
