ein hochwertiges Lautsprecher-System entschieden und damit Ihren hohen Anspruch an Klang und Verarbeitungsqualität bewie-
sen. Auch wenn der Einbau dieser Lautsprecher recht unkompliziert ist, empfehlen wir Ihnen, kurz Ihre Aufmerksamkeit dieser
Bedienungsanleitung zu widmen. Wir erklären Ihnen hier scheinbar komplizierte Zusammenhänge auf einfache Art und Weise. So
erfahren Sie, wie Sie Ihr neues Canton Car-Audio-System im Fahrzeug einbauen und anschließen.

Allgemeine Betriebshinweise
Canton Car-Audio-Systeme sind speziell für den Einsatz im Fahrzeug konzipiert und für diesen Anwendungsbereich
abgestimmt.
Um möglichst lange Freude an Ihren Canton Lautsprechern zu haben, beachten Sie bitte folgendes: Schützen Sie die Lautsprecher
vor Spritzwasser oder vor Beschädigungen beim Einbau, – z.B. durch Karosserieteile oder bewegliche Teile im Fahrzeug.
Verstärker
Canton Lautsprecher sind für den Betrieb an Verstärkern geeignet, selbst wenn die Ausgangsleistung dieser Komponenten höher
ist als die in den technischen Daten des Canton-Lautsprechers angegebene Belastbarkeit. Tatsächlich geht die Gefahr für den
Lautsprecher eher von leistungsschwachen Verstärkern aus, da sie bei dem Versuch, durch Aufdrehen von Lautstärke- und
Klangreglern mehr Schalldruck zu erzeugen, übersteuert werden und durch sogenanntes „Clipping“ Verzerrungen erzeugen, die
insbesondere die Hochtöner der Systeme zerstören können. Bitte achten Sie deshalb bei der Lautstärkeeinstellung auf
Verzerrungen – und drehen Sie gegebenenfalls direkt leiser.
Vermeiden Sie eine Überlastung der Lautsprecher durch falsch ausgelegte oder übersteuerte bzw. falsch eingestellte Verstärker.
Zubehör
Durch die Verwendung des Originalzubehörs wird die Montage der Systeme erleichtert. Im Lieferumfang befinden sich
Schrauben, Kabelschuhe und Befestigungsmaterialien zur leichteren Installation der Lautsprecher. Zusätzlich sind den Komponen-
ten-Systeme verschiedene Montage-Adapter für die Hochtöner beigelegt. Beachten Sie die beigefügte Zubehörliste.

Einbauhinweise
Sollten Sie den Einbau des Lautsprechersystems nicht durch eine Fachwerkstatt vornehmen lassen, empfiehlt es sich, die
folgenden allgemeinen Einbauhinweise zu beachten.
Sicherheit Entfernen Sie zunächst den Minus-Pol von der Fahrzeugbatterie.
Polung Achten Sie bei der Verkabelung der Systeme unbedingt auf die richtige Polung. Als „+“ Ader wird generell das
markierte Kabel verwendet, als „-“ Ader das neutrale Kabel. Grundsätzlich ist bei Canton Lautsprechern der
breite Anschlusskontakt der Plus-Pol und der schmale Kontakt der Minus Pol. Bei allen Frequenzweichen ist
die Polung der Anschlüsse auf dem Gehäuse entsprechend gekennzeichnet.
Kabel Als Lautsprecherkabel empfiehlt sich ein hochwertiges Kabel mit einem Kabelquerschnitt ab 1,5mm². Bedenken
Sie, dass je nach Montageort der Weiche recht lange Wegstrecken zu überbrücken sind. Lautsprecherkabel
sollten nie ungeschützt über Kanten oder scharfe Karosserieteile geführt werden.
Einbau Verwenden Sie zur Befestigung und zum Anschluss der Lautsprecher das mitgelieferte Montagematerial und die
beigelegten Kabelschuhe.
Achtung Beachten Sie bei der Installation und dem Betrieb der Lautsprecher die Sicherheitsbestimmungen über tragende
Karosserieteile, die Bestimmungen der StVZO sowie die Vorschriften der Fahrzeughersteller.

Einbau der Lautsprecher
Wählen Sie den optimalen Einbauort für das Lautsprechersystem. Überprüfen Sie anhand der im Datenblatt angegebenen
Abmessungen den möglichen Einbauort im Fahrzeug auf seine Passgenauigkeit. Achten Sie darauf, dass die Lautsprecher keine
beweglichen Teile (Türöffner, Fensterheber, Heckklappenmechanik etc.) berühren oder deren Funktion beeinträchtigen.
Einbau in Originaleinbauplätzen
Wird ein Canton 2-Wege System in den Originaleinbauplätzen der Türen installiert, kann nach dem Entfernen der Türverkleidung
und dem Ausbau des Originallautsprechers, wenn vorhanden, der Woofer montiert werden. Informieren Sie sich im Vorfeld, ob
Sie eventuell einen fahrzeugspezifischen Einbauadapter benötigen.
Einbau auf der Heckablage
Zeichnen Sie zunächst, mittels einer Einbauschablone, die benötigten Bohrungen sowie Ausschnitte an und schneiden diese danach
aus ihrer Heckablage aus.
Entfernen Sie die Blenden und Gitter von dem Lautsprecher. Schließen Sie die Kabel, unter der Beachtung der richtigen Polung an
die Lautsprecher an. Platzieren Sie die Blende mit dem Lautsprecher über den Bohrlöchern in der Montagefläche und
verschrauben Sie diese. Befestigen Sie die beiliegenden, selbstklebenden Filzstreifen am Lautsprechergitter und setzen Sie dieses
passgenau ein.
Stabilität der Heckablage
Bedenken Sie bitte, dass die Heckablage durch die Installation der Lautsprechersysteme nicht ihre Stabilität verliert, verstärken Sie
ggf. die Montagefläche. Bei einigen Fahrzeugtypen kann der Austausch der Originalablage durch eine Span- oder MDF-Platte
bzw. eines Soundboards von Vorteil sein.

Montage des separaten Gehäuses für den Mitteltöner (nur 3-Wege System)
Führen Sie die Anschlusskabel des Mitteltöners durch die Öffnung des separaten Gehäuses. Benutzen Sie das beigefügte
Dämmmaterial zur Dämpfung des Mitteltongehäuses und dichten Sie die Kabelführung mit Silikon o.ä. ab. (Abb. 1)

Verschiedene mitgelieferte Adapter ermöglichen einen individuellen und akustisch optimalen Einbau der Hochtöner. Eine
Installation auf dem Armaturenbrett, im Spiegeldreieck oder auf der Heckablage kann mit diesen Adaptern realisiert werden. Die
Anzahl und Art der im Lieferumfang befindlichen Adapter in der Verpackung, ist aus der beigefügten Liste zu ersehen.

Anpassung des Hochtonpegels
Die integrierte Hochtonanpassung der Frequenzweichen bietet die Möglichkeit, den Hochtonpegel an Hörgeschmack und
Einbauposition anzupassen. Eine neutrale Wiedergabe erzielen Sie über die Einstellung „0“. Eine Anhebung bzw. Absenkung des
Pegels erreichen Sie über einen Umschalter innerhalb der Weiche oder über die Änderung des „+“ Anschlusses am
Hochtonterminal. Lassen Sie Ihr Gehör über die optimale Einstellung des Hochtonpegels entscheiden.
Räumlichkeit - Klangtest
Nachdem Sie das System installiert und in der Funktion getestet haben können Sie bei ausgeschalteter Anlage die Polung der
Hochtöner (+ und -) einmal vertauschen. Dieses „Verpolen“ beider Hochtöner kann je nach Einbausituation und Einbauort zu
einer besseren räumlichen Abbildung führen. Testen Sie Ihre Anlage und wählen Sie die bessere klangliche Variante aus.

Anschluss der Frequenzweichen
Generell empfiehlt es sich, die Frequenzweichen in der Nähe der eingebauten Lautsprecher zu befestigen. Sie vermeiden dadurch
Klangeinbußen durch lange Kabelwege. Zur Verbindung der Lautsprecherkabel mit der externen Frequenzweiche lösen Sie die
Schraubanschlüsse an der Frequenzweiche und schieben die Kabelenden in die frei gewordenen Öffnungen. Ziehen Sie die Schraub-
anschlüsse wieder fest. Die Kabelweichen der Koaxialsysteme werden an die passenden Anschlüsse am Lautsprecher aufgesteckt,
das Autoradio oder der Verstärker wird am Eingang der Weiche angeschlossen.

Bi – Wiring / Bi – Amping – Betrieb (nur 3-Wege System)
Die Frequenzweiche dieses Systems erlaubt einen Bi-Wiring / Bi-Amping-Betrieb, bei dem ein separates Ansteuern des Bass- und
Mittel-Hochtonbereiches mit getrennten Verstärkern möglich ist.
Achtung: Möchten Sie das Lautsprechersystem in diesen Bi-Wiring / Bi-Amping-Betrieb einsetzen, müssen Sie das Gehäuse der
Frequenzweiche öffnen. Entfernen Sie auf der Platine die beiden Brücken zwischen den Punkten 3604 und 3605.

Garantiebedingungen
Canton gewährt auf alle Autolautsprecher zwei Jahre Vollgarantie. Vollgarantie bedeutet, dass im Reparaturfall die Kosten für
Material, Arbeitszeit und den Rückversand gedeckt sind. Der Austausch von Bauteilen innerhalb der Garantiezeit verlängert nicht
diesen Garantieanspruch. Schäden, welche durch unsachgemäßen Gebrauch entstanden sind, werden durch die Garantie
nicht abgedeckt.

General operating instructions
Canton car-audio-systems are specially designed for use in vehicles and are tuned for this type of use.
To enjoy your Canton loudspeakers for as long as possible please note the following: when installing the loudspeakers please
protect them from spray water or damage from, for example, body parts or moveable parts in the vehicle.
Amplifier
Canton loudspeakers are suitable for amplifier operation, even though the power output of these components is higher than the
load given in the technical data for the speaker system. In fact, the loudspeakers are at greater risk from low power amplifiers as,
by turning up the loudspeaker volume control and tone control to try to obtain more acoustic pressure, they can be overdriven
and produce distortion through what is known as ‘clipping’ that is particularly likely to damage the tweeters in the system. When
setting the loudspeakers, listen for any distortion and, if necessary, turn down the volume immediately.
Avoid overloading the loudspeakers through incorrectly fitted, overdriven or incorrectly set amplifiers.
Accessories
Fitting the system is easier when using the original accessories. Screws, cable clips and small fixing materials are supplied for easy
loudspeaker installation. Various assembly adapters for the tweeters are also enclosed with the component systems.

Installation instructions
If you do not have the loudspeaker system installed by a specialist you are recommended to follow these general installation
instructions:
Safety Disconnect the negative terminal of the vehicle battery.
Polarity When wiring the system you must ensure the correct polarity. Normally the labelled wire is the ‘+’ lead and the
neutral wire is the ‘-’ lead. In principle with Canton loudspeakers the wide contact is the positive pole and the
narrow contact the negative pole. The polarity of the connectors of all separating filters is marked on the casing.
Wire We recommend high-grade wire with at least a 1.5 mm2cross-section. Remember that depending on where the
speakers are installed, you may need to bridge a considerable distance. Loudspeaker wires should never cross
edges or sharp body parts without suitable protection.
Installation Use the fittings and cable clips supplied to fasten and connect the loudspeakers.
Attention When installing and operating the loudspeakers please follow the safety regulations covering supporting body
parts, the road licensing regulations and the vehicle manufacturer’s instructions.

Installing the loudspeakers
Choose the most appropriate position for installing the loudspeakers. Using the measurements given in the data sheet, check the
suitability of the location in the vehicle for installation. Ensure that the loudspeakers do not touch or affect the operation of any
moveable parts (door handle, window handle, tailgate mechanism, etc).
Installation in the original installation locations
If a Canton 2-way system is installed in the original installation locations, once the door panel and the original loudspeakers, if
available, have been removed the woofer can be fitted. Check in advance whether you may need a vehicle specific
installation adapter.
Installation in the trunk
Firstly, using a template, mark the drill holes and cut-outs required then cut these out of your trunk.
Remove the grille from the loudspeaker. Ensuring correct polarity, connect the wires to the loudspeakers. Position the grille with
the loudspeaker over the drill holes in the installation area and screw fasten them. Affix the enclosed, self-adhesive felt strips to
the loudspeaker grille and fit this accurately.
Rigidity of the trunk
Ensure that fitting the loudspeaker system does not cause the trunk to lose its rigidity. If necessary, strengthen the installation
area. In some vehicles it may be useful to replace the original boot with a chipboard or MDF panel or a soundboard.

Installing the separate housing for the midrange speaker (3-way system only)
Pass the midrange speaker lead through the opening in the separate housing. Use the enclosed insulating material to damp the
midrange speaker housing and seal the wire guide with silicone or similar.

Installing the tweeter
Various adapters, which are supplied, allow the tweeter to be installed to individual and optimum specifications. These adapters
permit installation on the dashboard, the mirror cheater and in the boot. The number and type of adapters included can be seen
in the enclosed list.

Adjusting the high frequency level
The integrated high frequency adjustment in the crossover gives the option of adjusting the high frequency level according to
individual listening preferences and installation location. The ‘0’ setting gives a neutral reproduction. You can increase or decrease
the level through a switch in the filter or by altering the ‘+’ connector at the high frequency terminal. Use your hearing to decide
on the best setting for the high frequency level.
Acoustic test
After you have installed and tested the operation of the system, and with the system switched off, you can switch the polarity of
the tweeters (+ and -) once. Depending on the installation circumstances and location this ‘polarising’ of both tweeters can result
in improved spatial configuration. Test your layout and choose the best acoustic variant.

Connecting the crossover networks
Generally speaking, it is recommended that the crossovers are fitted near to the installed loudspeakers in order to avoid any
acoustic loss that may result from long wires. To connect the loudspeaker wires to the external crossovers, release the screw
connectors on the crossover and insert the end of the wire into the apertures that are now free. Re-tighten the screw connector.
The coaxial system cable distributors are mounted onto the relevant connectors on the loudspeaker, the car radio or
the amplifier is connected to the crossover input.

Bi-wiring / Bi-amping / operation (3-way system only)
The separating filter in this system permits bi-wiring / bi-amping operation that allows the bass and mid-frequency range to be
controlled separately with individual amplifiers.
Attention: If you want to install the loudspeaker system for this bi-wiring / bi-amping operation you need to open the separator
filter housing. Remove both bridges on the bedplate between points 3604 and 3605.

Terms of guarantee
Canton provides a two-year full guarantee on all car loudspeakers. Full guarantee means that, in the event of any repairs the costs
of materials, labour and return carriage are covered. The exchange of components within the term of the guarantee does
not extend this warranty claim. Damage caused by improper use is not covered by this guarantee.
