INTRODUCTION
Thank you for your choosing this equipment to manage and control access to
your copier and your copy vending.
The TC4000 enables you copy vending with coins or magnetic cards.
By reading this manual, we assume that the way of using the Cartadis TC4N
card readers is well-known. If not, it is advisable to read the Cartadis TC4N
user's manual.
The TC4000 is composed of the two following equipments:
- Modified Cartadis TC4N card reader, fitted with a TC4NCA software
version V1.3 or higher.
- Modified Cartadis CM4000 coin mechanism, fitted with a CA4TC version
V1.2 or higher.
The card reader is connected to the copier for control on one part and to the
CM4000 coin mechanism on the other part.
With the TC4000 system, you can:
- Make copies with coins. 8 different coin values may be accepted. The
coin mechanism counts the coins that are being inserted, depending on
the copy unit price, one or several copies can be made without inserting
coins again. The coin mechanism does not give change back.

- Make copies by paying with Cartadis magnetic cards. These cards must
be initialized on the Cartadis TC4N itself by the administrator or sold
by a vending machine like Cartadis DRC4 or CD30.
- Reload magnetic cards, that are reloadable, by inserting coins into the
coin mechanism.
The card reader gives access to the functioning parameters. The main ones
are:
- Copy unit selling price when it is paid by magnetic card. The card may
represent a number of copies or a currency value.
- Currency price of the points recorded on the magnetic card.
- Setting of degressive prices based on a two level bonus table.
- Sales statistics, of reloading, number of paying copies by size, number
of free copies.

Through this document, we only describe the TC4000 particular features. You
must refer to the Cartadis TC4N user's manual for getting information about:
- magnetic card recording on the TC4N itself,
- viewing of statistics,
- setting of parameters linked to the copier.
In TC4N main menu, the menu item "Coins reset" is new. It enables the
current credit displayed on the coin mechanism screen to be erased. This
function is useful in case you have inserted coins for test purposes and you
wish to erase this credit. This function is launched by choosing the menu item
"Coins reset" and by pressing key "right arrow".
Selling prices from sub-menu "Price setup" have to be set as for a Cartadis
TC4N. In most cases, the A4 price is set to 1 and A3 one to 2.

3.1. Price setting in TC4N
Selling prices from sub-menu "Price setup" have to be set as for a Cartadis
TC4N. In most cases, the A4 price is set to 1 and A3 one to 2.
Prices associated with coins payment, are applied by following 2 steps:
- in the bonus table, get the "card points" equivalent of the amount
inserted,
- application of one among the 4 prices from P1 to P4 (according to copy
size and colour) to the "credit of card points" from which the number of
possible copies have to be deducted.
The bonus table is accessible from a sub-menu of the "Copier Parameters"
menu. This sub-menu is called "Bonus Table". It is composed of 3 screens
showing the following table:
P0: 10
C0: 1
P1: 100
C1: 12
P2: 200
C2: 30
Point price:
Price in cents (0.10 €)
for recording 1 point on Cartadis card
Level 1 bonus:
Price in cents (1.00 €)
for recording 12 points on Cartadis card
Level 2 bonus:
Price in cents (2.00 €)
for recording 30 points on Cartadis card
For moving from one screen to the next one, press key . For modifying a
parameter, press key then enter the new value and validate by .
C0 parameter can not be modified, it is always equal to 1.
If you do not want to apply a bonus, the price of the bonus must be defined to
0.
The default configuration does not carry out bonus, i. e. P1 is equal to 0 and
P2 is also equal to 0.

3.2. Statistics counters
Cartadis TC4N statistics counters have been extended for considering the
CM4000 coin mechanism. Following 14 counters are available instead of the 8
in TC4N:
Cop.1 to
Cop.4:
Deb.:
(Debit)
Cop.1 Grat.
to
Cop.4 Grat.:
Deb. Grat.:
(Debit)
Cred.:
(Credit)
Transac.:
(Transaction)
Coins:
These counters represent the number of copies made either
with magnetic cards or coins.
. Cop.1: represents the number of A4-size Black and White
copies,
. Cop.2: the number of A3-size Black and White copies,
. Cop.3: represents the number of A4-size colour copies,
. Cop.4: the number of A3-size colour copies.
This counter represents the "number of card points" (or amount
of money) debited from the cards for all the sizes.
These counters represent the number of free copies made by
means of the CM4000 "free copies" key.
. Cop.1 Grat: represents the number of A4-size Black and
White copies,
. Cop.2 Grat: the number of A3-size Black and White copies,
. Cop.3 Grat: represents the number of A4-size colour copies,
. Cop.4 Grat: the number of A3-size colour copies.
This counter represents the "number of card points" debited
for all the sizes by means of the key "free copies".
This counter represents the number of points recorded on the
cards. It is increased from TC4N's Administration menu at
each card recording (coin reloading does not modified this
counter).
This counter represents the number of users' transactions. A
transaction is the succession of the following operations:
. insertion of a user's card or coin,
. taking copies (any quantity),
. recovery of the user's card.
This counter represents the amount of money inserted into
the CM4000 coin mechanism.

The counters "Cop.1 to Cop.4, Deb., Cred., Transac." can't be modified and
they increase as long as the unit is used.

TC4000 installation is achieved as follows:
1 - installation of the Cartadis TC4N card reader,
2 - installation of the CM4000 coin mechanism.
The first step is similar to the one described in TC4N user's manual. It is
advisable to first test the correct running of the Cartadis card payment before
launching the CM4000 installation.
The second step is very simple and consists in:
- mechanically fasten the CM4000 coin mechanism case, we advise you
to use the pedestal (reference ZPIEDCM4000),
- connect the CM4000 communication cable (beige colour) to the connector
located on TC4N rear side,
- connect the 230V power supply plug of the CM4000 to a power socket.
