adventures together and we want to make sure you are perfectly happy with the poles and how they
serve you.
Below are a few instructional manuals to get you started easily with the poles.
Don't forget to register your poles to enjoy our extended two year warranty against defects in
materials or workmanship from the date of purchase.
1. You have brand new poles in your hands and you should do a check at home before taking
them on the trail:
2. Take the poles out of the plastic bag and then out of the mesh bag
3. Check that you have 2 poles, 2 rubber tips, 2 smaller mud baskets and 2 snow baskets. If you
are missing anything please contact us
4. Check that the poles open easily and have no faults. If anything seems faulty, please contact
us
5. Make sure the screw in the lock lever is tight enough to lock the poles securely
That is it: your poles are ready to be taken outdoors and used
When outdoors, you want to be able to quickly deploy your poles and set them up for maximum
comfort and efficiency.
1. Release the holding strap
2. Align all the sections and fit them together to create one long pole
3. Pull out the hidden shaft until the metal pin "pops" out
4. Release the lock handle for the size adjuster
5. Adjust to the appropriate length for you
6. Lock the length adjuster

Your goal is to have your arm at 90 degrees when standing straight and the pole is parallel to your
body. There are some standard recommended lengths but we all have different shapes, so the best
method is to experiment until you find the best length for yourself.
It is vital to use two walking poles when hiking as it enables a balanced walk; using one walking pole
can lead to extended pressure on the joints on one side of your body.
Make sure your poles are set for the right length (see above)
Step forward with your left foot while moving the right pole such that the tip stays parallel
to the heel of the left foot
Now use the right foot and left pole to do the same step
Repeat
Walking with poles requires practice so make sure to use them on a flat surface for a while until you
are comfortable with them.
Make sure you have your straps around your wrists while allowing you to reach the lower
part of the handle
Use the same cross motion of moving the poles as you would on a flat surface (left foot with
right pole etc) but the poles are now ahead of you, slightly higher up
If you need to hold on to an object like a rock, let go of the pole (you have the strap on,
right?) and use your hand
Use the same cross motion movement as you usually do but keep the pole ahead of you and your
hands on the top ball of the handles. Keep your arms at the side of your body and your elbows to
lock. Walk down carefully.

Reverse the deployment process:
1. Release the lock handle for the size adjuster
2. Fit the top shaft all the way back in
3. Lock the length adjuster
4. Press the metal pin and fit the hidden shaft in again
5. Pull apart all the sections
6. Wrap the holding strap around the pole
Vertex poles were designed specifically to allow for easy maintenance as dirt, dust and moisture are
the main reason most of poles break or get stuck over time.
The best way to maintain your poles:
1. When back from a trip, open the poles and release all the sections
2. Open the lock handle and slip out the size adjusting shaft
3. Wash the handle with water and if very grimy, with some plain soap
4. Remove the basket and rubber tip from the bottom and wash with water
5. If the poles are very muddy/dusty/wet wash each shaft with water only
6. Let all the parts dry in open air until fully dry
7. Reassemble pole
All our products come with a 1 year warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. If
anything is found to be defective against this warranty then we will repair or replace it at our
discretion. Normal wear and tear, misuse, alteration or abuse is not covered.
