4) Use and maintenance of the power tool
a) Do not force thepower tool. Use thecorrect power tool for your application. Thecorrect power tool
will do thejob better and safer if used at therate for which it was designed.
b) Never use thepower tool if thepower switch does not switch thetool on and off properly.
Any power tool that cannot be controlled by thepower switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Unplug thelead from thewall socket before making any adjustments, changing accessories or
storing thepower tool. These precautions reduce therisk of thepower tool starting unexpectedly.
d) Store any power tools that are not being used out of children’s reach. Do not allow people who are
unfamiliar with thetool or its functions to operate thetool. Power tools can be dangerous if they fall into
thehands of inexperienced users.
e) Maintaining power tools. Check for any incorrect settings, parts that catch, broken parts or anything
else which may cause thepower tool to malfunction. If something is damaged, have thepower tool
repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to
bind and are easier to control.
g) Use thepower tool, accessories and similar in accordance with these instructions and in anappropriate
way suitable for thetype of power tool used, taking into account theworking conditions and
thework to be performed. Use of thepower tool for apurpose other than that for which it is intended
could result in adangerous situation.
5) Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by aqualified repair person using only identical replacement parts.
This guarantees that thesafety of thepower tool is maintained.
1.2 Chainsaw safety warnings
• Keep all parts of thebody away from thechainsaw when thesaw chain is moving. Before starting
thechainsaw, make sure that thesaw chain is not in contact with anything. Amoment of inattention
while operating thechainsaw may cause entanglement of your clothing or body with thesaw chain.
• Always hold therear handle of thechainsaw in your right hand and thefront handle in your left hand.
Holding thechainsaw with areversed hand configuration increases therisk of personal injury and should
never be done.
• Use protective eyewear and hearing protection. Further protective equipment for head, hands, legs
and feet is recommended. Wearing thecorrect protective equipment reduces therisk of personal injury
from flying debris or accidental contact with thesaw chain.
• Do not operate achainsaw in atree. Operating achainsaw whilst up in atree may result in personal injury.
• Always keep proper footing and operate thechainsaw only when standing on afixed, secure and
level surface. Slippery or unstable working positions such as ladders can lead to loss of balance and loss
of control over thechainsaw.
• When cutting alimb that is under tension you should always be alert for spring back. When thetension
in thewood fibres is released, thespring-loaded limb may strike theoperator and/or throw thechainsaw out
of control.
• Use extreme caution when cutting brush and saplings. Thin twigs can get caught in thesaw chain and
be projected towards you or cause you to lose your balance.
• Always carry thechainsaw by thefront handle with themotor switched off and theguide bar pointing
away from your body. When transporting or storing thechainsaw, always fit theguide bar cover.
Proper handling of thechainsaw will reduce thelikelihood of accidental contact with themoving saw chain.
• Always follow theinstructions regarding lubrication, chain tensioning and changing of accessories.
Anincorrectly tensioned or lubricated saw chain can snap or increase therisk of kickback.
• Always keep thehandles dry, clean and free of oil and grease. Oily and greasy handles are slippery and
can cause you to lose control of thechainsaw.
• Cut wood only. Do not use thechainsaw for any purpose other than that for which it was intended.
For example: Never saw plastic, masonry or other building material not made of wood. Use of
thechainsaw for apurpose other than that for which it was intended could result in ahazardous situation.
