Portable CD Player/Radio - 3414
(COBY Brand)
USER’S GUIDE
Perfect size!
Our Portable CD Player with AM/FM Radio has been adapted to allow
you to activate the CD or radio function with your capability switch.
Simply plug your capability switch into the radio jack to play music or
plug your switch into the CD jack to play and pause your favorite CD.
The radio function requires continuous switch activation to play. This
full function top-loading CD play has full range stereo speakers with
digital LED displays. Easily fits on wheelchair trays. Size: 9”H x
4½”W x 8”L. Requires Capability Switch and 6 C Batteries. Weight:
3¼ lbs.
PLEASE NOTE: Styles and brands may vary. AC line cord has been
removed and AC power function has been disabled for safety reasons.
Battery use only.
Operation:
1. The portable CD player requires 6 “C” batteries (not included) to
operate. Use alkaline batteries only (e.g. Duracell or Energizer
brand). Do not use rechargeable batteries or any other type of
batteries because they supply lower voltage and the unit will not
perform properly. Never mix old and new batteries together or
different brands or types together.
2. nstall the batteries, with careful attention to the battery polarity.
Be sure the + and - poles are facing in the correct directions as
shown inside the battery compartment.
Note:
 Do not mix new batteries with old ones.
 Remove the batteries when you do not plan to use the unit for a
month or more.
 Only connect one switch to the Portable. Connecting two switches
will disable the CD Boom Box.
 Due to switch adaptation the use of an AC power cord has been
disabled for safety reasons. This unit will only work with batteries.
To operate the CD player:
1. Slide the oblong “FUNCT ON” button on the upper left hand side
of the unit to the position marked “CD”.
2. Open the CD compartment by lifting the door located on the top
portion of the unit. nsert your CD, label side up, over the center hub
of the disc and gently press the center of the CD until it snaps down.
Gently close the compartment door.
3. There are two adapted switch inputs located on the left side of the
unit. nsert a capability switch into the outlet marked “CD”. ( nput
jack only accepts 1/8" switch plugs).
4. When the Capability Switch you have chosen is activated the CD
player will turn ON. t will then display the number of tracks that your
CD has on it. Press your switch again, and the CD will start to play
the first track. Press the switch again to pause the track. (The
manufacturer’s Play/Pause button will work concurrently.)
To operate the Radio:
1. For Radio: Manually slide the “FUNCT ON” button to “RAD O”.
Set the “BAND” switch, located on the top/right to AM or FM. Tune
into the channel of your choice using the large knob on side of the unit
just above the BAND switch. Adjust the volume to your desired
listening level.
2. nsert your switch plug into the switch jack located on the left side
of the unit marked “RAD O”.
3. f using a momentary switch pressing on the switch will activate
the RAD O, releasing will deactivate. Activate your Capability
Switch (Only with the use of a switch with latch/timer capability or
a switch modifier module like our #605). And the radio will play.
Activate it again and it will turn off. Please Note: The use of a
Latch/Timer switch or switch modifier will not work for the CD
portion of this player.
Please Note: When finished using the CD player, set the
CD/OFF/RAD O selector switch to OFF to prevent battery drain.
Failure to do so will result in the batteries draining out.
