Appendix C: Return Air Damper Assembly Kit
C.1 Box Content
The H2 Zero Return Air Damper box contains:
Return Air Damper Assembly Kit (P/N 016-556-10).
Unistrut Mounting Kit (P/N 016-555-10).
8” Diameter Galvanized Steel Collar (643-506-10).
C.2 Installation
Before installing the H2 Zero Return Air Damper, you need to plan where you will place the unit.
If possible, to simplify ductwork, it is recommended that this be an outside wall such that a straight 8”
diameter duct can be installed.
The wall must have sucient strength to support 30 lbs.
Clearance around the unit should be 18”on all sides except the mounting surface.
C.3 Return Air Damper Assembly and Installation
The Return Air Damper Assembly Kit was shipped in a separate box to protect it during shipping.
C.4 Mounting
IMPORTANT: The wall and anchor system must be capable of supporting 30 lbs.!
Step 1. Attach the two pieces of unistrut to wall such that the unistrut runs vertically, and the centers are
27” apart.
Step 2. Using the six U-nuts, 3/8-16 screws, fender washers, and split lock washers provided, mount
the Return Air Damper Assembly to the unistrut.
See “Figure 1. Wall mount illustration with unistrut” on Page 2

C.8 Power-On and Test
Before powering on the system, ensure that:
The damper unit is securely mounted on the wall.
There is no obstruction of the damper door.
The POWER ON switch on the controller I/O board is in the OFF position.
Turn OFF all the breaker feeding system.
Power on the system as follows:
Step 1. Turn OFF all the breaker feeding system and the controller I/O board before installing the Return Air
Damper Unit.
Step 2. After installing the Return Air Damper Unit turn the POWER switch on the controller I/O board to ON
position.
Step 3. The BLUE Power LED on the Return Air Damper unit should turn ON, within one minute.
When the Return Air Damper unit is powered up for the rst time, it will perform an automatic test an will cycle the Return Air
Damper once.
During the cycle all four LED will illuminate for a few seconds and the green LED will ash. The amber LED will illuminate if the
damper door is in the OPEN stage. The red FAULT LED will illuminate if any malfunction or obstruction. Once the automatic test
is complete the damper will be in a closed position with the green READY LED on steady.
