Bulldog
Replace the Main Filter
1. Turn the vacuum o.
2. While wearing gloves, without removing any bolts or
nuts, lift the vacuum controller o the vacuum pump.
3. Slide the main air lter to the access hole; lift out of
the ltrols and discard.
4. Replace the main air lter.
5. Turn the vacuum back on.
Replace the Vacuum Controller Filter
1. Remove the retaining nut o the top of the lter.
2. Remove the vacuum controller lter by lifting the lter
over the teepee.
3. Inspect spud gasket for cracks.
4. Discard the lter and replace with new.
5. Turn the vacuum back on.

Bison

Check V-Belt Tension
1. Access the belt.
a. Bulldog - Remove two-piece belt guard.
b. Bison - Remove belt guard.
2. Measure the belt tension by using a tension gauge
or the nger pressure test.
a. Bulldog Models:
1. 855.xxx.x- 70 lbs. using tension gauge or 3/16"
deection with 4 lbs. of nger pressure.
2. 809.xxx.x and 809E.xxx.x- 50 lbs. using tension
gauge or 1/4" deection with 4 lbs. of nger
pressure.
b. Bison Models:
All Bison models: 70 lbs. using tension gauge or
1/4" deection with 4 lbs. of nger pressure.
3. If belt tension is changed, make sure the pulley
alignment is checked. Follow instructions in the
“Belt Replacement, Alignment and Tensioning”
service procedure, which is on the web at
www.dentalez.com/downloads/service-procedures,
or call RAMVAC Technical Support at 866-DTE-INFO.
4. Return the vacuum pump to service.
Check Oil Drip Rate
1. Start the vacuum and run for at least 10 minutes.
2. Look through the sight glass on the bottom of the
drippers and look for the drips of oil.
3. Count the drips of oil through each sight glass per
minute.
4. Drip rate at each dripper should be 1 to 3 drops per
minute when the vacuum unit is thoroughly warmed up.
The vacuum setting is 7" to 7.5" Hg, and the ambient
temperature is 70 °F to 75 °F.
NOTE: The drip rate will vary slightly depending on the
ambient temperature and oil temperature.
Change Oil
1. Operate the vacuum pump until the oil reservoir is warm
to touch.
2. Turn the vacuum pump o.
3. Insert a container large enough to hold the used oil under
the oil drain tube.
4. Carefully open the oil reservoir drain valve and drain the
oil.
NOTE: If any water drains from the oil reservoir when the
valve is opened, call RAMVAC at 866-DTE-INFO.
5. Unscrew the oil lter canister and remove the lter.
a. If lter is clean, reinstall the lter back into the
canister.
b. If lter is dirty, replace lter.
6. Install the oil lter canister.
7. Close the drain valve and add the recommended amount
of oil. (See User Manual for recommended amount).
8. Check the drip rate.
9. Return the vacuum pump to service.
