1PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
1.1 BRIEF DESCRIPTION
IZAR RDC BATTERY is a battery-driven stand-alone concentrator enabling:
•Implementation of a “remote reading” solution in autonomous mode i.e. without 230 V
connection.
•Study of consumption profiles on one or more meters, thanks to its « Data logger radio » functions.
•Monitoring of main and sector meters requiring a stand-alone concentrator.
•Complementarity with an « IZAR R4 » long-range network solution to cover isolated areas and
difficult to reach meters.
IZAR RDC BATTERY allows to read out smart radio metering with cyclic interval or time point fully
configurable. Meter information is stored and send to a FTP/SFTP server.
One data emission sequence is defined with different operations:
•Check of the date/time of the system (Server NTP)
•Data File transfer (FTP/SFTP)
•Control of new « firmware »
•Control of new « settings »

3CONCENTRATOR INSTALLATION
3.1 USAGE PRECAUTIONS
IZAR RDC BATTERY must be installed and put into operation by qualified staff. This
also applies to maintenance work during the life of the product.
Failure to follow these instructions can lead to serious health hazards or the risk of
electrocution.
Electronic discharge! Strict compliance with the pertinent provisions regarding ESD
(ElectroStatic Discharge) must be observed.
Electronic product must be handled with caution!
Battery pack must be handled with care! Do not disassemble!
Do not short-circuit!
Housing gasket for IP65
The housing must be open and close with specific care to avoid any displacement of
the gasket.
If after this operation the gasket in not well in place or twisted, the IP65 rating of the
device is not valid anymore.
IZAR RDC BATTERY is designed for wall mounting installation. When installing,
ensure that the housing is mounted in compliance with IP 65 protection class and
without any mechanical stress.
IZAR RDC BATTERY must be installed vertically against a wall, antenna connectors
facing downwards in order to protect the oblong holes and remain IP 65.
If the product is defective, stop using it and contact the after-sales service.
Damage to the housing as well as the presence of significant humidity in the
housing are considered as defects.
3.2 SIM CARD INSTALLATION
The SIM card is not provided. Check with your telephone company that is operational.
The card format must be: Standard format “Mini SIM (25x15 mm)
The concentrator functions independently of the type of local operator used. It is also possible to use
multi-operator SIM card.
The SIM card installation must be performed with power supply off.
Always disconnect the battery pack before any intervention!
Insert the SIM card in the compartment as shown below and lock it.

IZAR RDC Battery
7 08/2019
Before closing the concentrator, make sure that the SIM card is properly locked
in its compartment.
3.3 CONNECTING THE BATTERY PACK
The battery pack is supplied unconnected to avoid unnecessary discharge during delivery of the
equipment. It should therefore be connected - as explained on the picture below. The connector is
equipped with a fool-proof notch that prevents manipulation errors.
Caution: In case of difficulty of insertion of the connector, do not force but double check its
direction.
The battery has a lifespan of up to 10 years depending on the setting. The battery pack is
replaceable on site (refer to chapter “battery pack replacement”).
Only use the Diehl Metering referenced battery pack!
3.4 COVER INSTALLATION
Close and screw the cover on the box once the SIM card (and in option the SD card) securely locked
in place and the battery pack is connected.

3.6 CONNECTING THE EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLY (OPTIONAL)
IZAR RDC BATTERY can also be powered by a DC voltage source (solar for example…).
Specifications: 5 VA / 6 … 36 V DC
Do not exceed the permissible voltage (36 V DC)!
3.7 “DATA LOGGER RADIO” MODE (OPTIONAL)
IZAR RDC BATTERY can also be used in “Data logger radio” mode. This mode makes it possible to
read one or more meters with a very fine time step to analyse consumption profile data for instance,
or leak detection.
In this case, the concentrator is configured in a specific mode and stores all the data on a SD
memory card (optional). It shall not be configured with a GPRS/3G connection.
The user must guaranty that the SD card is not full by retrieving the data and erasing it from the SD
card regularly.
Compatible SD cards with following characteristics:
•FAT 32 formatting; only one partition
•Micro SD card up to 16 Go
•Micro SD HC card up to 32 Go (no specific speed class)

3.8 WALL MOUNTING AND SCREW FIXING
A drilling template is provided with the installation guide to facilitate positioning and installation on
the wall.
4CONFIGURATION / STARTING UP
IZAR RDC BATTERY must be programmed on-site via a Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy interface
using the IZAR@RDCBV Config software.
Please refer to the IZAR@RDCBV Config software user guide.

6MAINTENANCE
IZAR RDC BATTERY requires no specific maintenance.
Do not clean it with solvents or abrasive cleaners, as these would damage the plastic shell.
If necessary, use a damp cloth or sponge.
Storage: The product should be stored in a dry place at temperatures between: - 20°C … + 70°C.
Prolonged storage at high temperatures may cause significant loss of autonomy.
6.1 BATTERY PACK REPLACEMENT
Only use the Diehl Metering referenced battery pack!
Caution: Risk of explosion if the battery pack is replaced by an incorrect battery
pack type!
Caution: if an external power supply is used, disconnect the connector before
any housing handling
The battery pack can be replaced directly on site. The following steps should be followed:
1) Open the housing
2) Disconnect and remove the battery pack
3) Install the new battery pack
4) Reinstall the cushioning foam
5) Connect the new battery pack
6) Close the housing
Note: during battery pack replacement, configuration settings are kept in non-volatile memory
without risk of data loss.
For battery pack recycling, please refer to chapter “Recycling”.

•Check that the connection information to the FTP server is unchanged: user, password, URL
FTP address
•Make sure that the available disk space on the FTP server is sufficient
On site:
•Perform a visual inspection of the product and check in particular for the following elements:
significant humidity in the housing, damage…
•Check the antenna wiring for good reception
•When using the 12/24V DC external power connector, make sure that it is in place and that
power is available
•Connect to the device and check the settings
