The Nature of Timber
The timber provided for this product is a soft wood which has been kiln dried and is pressure treated for protection
against rot and insect infestation.
Timber is a natural product and inherent properties can include knots, knot holes, imperfections, cracks and warping.
Due to the inherent properties of timber we make no guarantees that the timber you receive for your product will be
free from these natural properties. We will not replace any components for any of the following reasons:
•Timber that contains knots where they do not influence the structural stability of the product
•Cosmetics appearances - colour variations
•Timber that has shakes, cracks, gaps or sap which do not influence the structural strength of the product
•Timber that has been covered or buried underground
•Twisted timber that can be installed
•Queries arising from a neglectful manner during assembly or as a result of incorrect assembly
•Queries due to modifications by the owner causing the timber to deform
Any valid queries will be satisfied by the exchange or replacement of the defective parts only on a supply only basis.
Colour Transfer
This product has been pressure treated with wood preservative and a brown colour additive. Consideration should be
given to the propensity of the material to stain light colour adjacent surfaces, such as paving flags, render or coated
timber surfaces. We recommend contact between the timber and these surfaces is limited, and careful consideration to
storing the product prior to assembly should be taken in order to prevent such discolouration.
Assembly Preparation
This product has been designed for self-assembly and recommend that assembly is carried out by two DIY competent
people. It is important that the assembly instructions are followed carefully and we recommend that the assembly
instructions are read through in their entirety prior to assembly to allow you to familiarise yourself first.
We recommend ensuring that the product is assembled in an appropriate location and on an appropriate base for
the product. It is imperative that the product is installed square, level and plumb.
To assemble your product we recommend that you have the following:
•Stepladder
•Drill
•3mm and 6mm drill bit
•Spirit level
•Tape measure
•Screwdriver
•Gloves - if you wish for extra protection when handling pressure treated timber
•Clear exterior use sealant and caulking gun
All screw holes need to be pre-drilled using a 3mm drill bit (not provided) to avoid timber splitting.
Pressure treated products do not need to be treated immediately or have a timber preservative applied.
Pressure treatment does not mean that the timbers are waterproof, so you may wish to apply a water repellent.

Although the specialist in-house design and manufacturing teams at Dunster House ensure that all the sheds we sell
are built to last, performing regular maintenance will help prolong the life of your shed and protect your investment.
Here at Dunster House, we recommend that systematic checks are carried out on your wooden shed at least once
a year. Here is a list of the key areas to focus on when performing maintenance.
Base
The timber of a shed that sits on an uneven base will deteriorate, twist and eventually break. If your shed is showing
any of these signs, it is vitally important that you rebuild your shed on an adequate base, to prevent any further
damage.
If laid correctly, a flat, level, resilient base offers the necessary protection against damp and moisture found
in the ground.
Inspecting the roof of your garden shed
Over time, the felt on your shed roof will inevitably suffer damage. You should be looking to check for damage,
at least, annually. If you do find any wear and tear, act on it as soon as possible, as leaving it will cause more damage
to the shed itself and to the contents inside.
Should you discover a rip or tear, the best course of action is to replace it immediately. At Dunster House, we sell

Protecting your shed against damp and moisture
Damp and moisture are the two things that are going to do the most damage to your shed; so going the extra mile,
beyond just making sure that your wooden shed is treated, can really help to protect your investment.
Water repellent treatment
How you customise and decorate your product is up to you, however we would recommend that you use
an appropriate water repellent treatment. This really helps minimise the amount of moisture that the timber can
absorb, therefore minimising the risk of any major movement.
(Please note: water repellent treatment is not the same as pressure treatment, which protects against rot
and insect infestation, and which we guarantee for 10 Years!)
Maintaining your shed's environment
Ensuring that your wooden shed is in the best possible position within your garden can go a long way to protecting
it against damp and moisture. Water which consistently drips from leaves and branches can cause serious damage,
as can a branch that comes into immediate contact with a felt roof. Therefore measures should be taken to regularly
cut back any overhanging trees which may be in close proximity to your shed.
Wooden shed drainage
Ideally, if possible, your wooden shed should be placed at the highest point of your garden as this will aid drainage
naturally. Guttering can also be fitted to redirect water away from your shed, representing an excellent investment
for prolonging the life of your wooden shed.
Sealing your shed windows
Applying silicone where the glass meets the timber will help to seal the window and increase its resistance to water.

STEP 1: PANELS Pre-drill parts before fixing with screws

1a) Line up the panels so that the top and bottom of each panel is
flush with one another.
1b) Use 3x equally spaced 50mm screws to secure the panels together.

1c) Repeat the same steps as PANEL EC. Use 5x equally
spaced 50mm screws to secure the panels together.

STEP 2: FLOOR
STEP 3: FRONT BRACES
2a) Ensure the base is level. Space bearers at the specified distance as
shown in the the diagram below (1.0).
2b) Secure the MFP to the bearers with 35mm screws all equally
spaced. There should be a 70mm space between the ends of the bearer
and the screw.

Items: 3a) Connect the front braces to the bearers using 6x 70mm screws as
shown in the diagram below.
Ensure there is an equal 35mm space on both sides.

Use 35mm screws. Keep equal distance between
screws. Use same amount of screws per each
bearer.

STEP 4: PANELS
STEP 5: PURLIN SUPPORTS
4d) Attach the front panel as shown. Use
2x 50mm screws to the lower brace.
4e) Repeat steps 4b & 4c for the adjacent
side panel.
4f) Repeat step 4b to attach the other 2
panel corners.

Items: 5a) Position the purlin supports on the front and rear panels as shown in the
diagram below.
5b) Connect the purlin supports to the panel frame by using 2x 50mm screws per
each side support and 3x 50mm screws per each mid support. Make sure the
positions are correct.

STEP 6: PURLIN Pre-drill parts before fixing with screws

6a) Position the middle purlin as shown in the diagram and secure it by using 4x 70mm screws
(2x 70mm screws on each end of the purlin). Secure the top 2 screws to one half of the front
and rear panels, avoiding screwing into the mid joint of the panels.
6b) Position the remaining purlins in between the middle purlin and the side walls.
Use 2x 70mm screws per purlin and secure them on the top and bottom. See image below.

STEP 7: ROOF BOARDS

7a) Position the MFP onto the roof as shown in the image below.
Ensure the overhang is equal on all sides.
7b) Secure the MFP to the purlins and the side panel frames
by using equally spaced 35mm screws. Use 6 screws per
purlin / side panel frame.

STEP 8: HINGES
STEP 9: SHOOT BOLT, TURN BUTTONS, HASP & STAPLE
8a) Position the lead door in the frame ensuring there is an equal gap on each side
of the door. The bottom edge of the door should be flush with the bottom shiplap.
See image below for reference (1.0).
8b) Fix the hinges onto the door and wall panel. See image below for screw
positions (1.1). Ensure holes have been pre drilled.
8c) Repeat steps for the secondary door.

Items: 9a) Position the hasp, staple and turn buttons to the correct positions as shown in
the diagram below (1.0).
9b) Fix the hasp, staple and turn buttons into the frame by using 35mm screws.
9c) Position the shoot bolt as shown in the image below (1.1). Secure it to the
frame using 6x 35mm screws per each shoot bolt.

STEP 10: CORNER TRIM
STEP 11: DRIP TRAY
10a) Position the timber trims in each corner of the shed. Make sure that the end of
trim is flush with the bottom wall shiplap.
10b) Fix each corner trim into both panels. Use 7x 30mm pin nails for each corner
trim as shown in the diagram below.

Items: 11a) Position the drip tray to the correct position as shown in the diagram below.
Keep the same overhang of the drip tray on each side of the door and by ensuring a
gap of approx. 4mm to 5mm above the turn button.
11b) Fix the the drip tray onto the front panel frame by using 3x 35mm screw on
each drip tray, 50mm approx. from each end and one in the middle.

STEP 12: WIND BRACE
STEP 13: FELT
12a) Position the wind braces as shown in the diagram below. Make sure that they
are flush with edge of the roof board.
12b) Fix each wind brace by using 35mm screws. Use 6 screws for each front and
rear wind brace. Use 4 screws per each wind brace for the side. Refer to the image
below for more information.
Pre-drill parts before fixing with screws
Items:
Items: 13a) Place Felt layers 1 and 2 as shown in the diagram below. Keep an overhang of
80mm on each side. Fix the felt onto the roof board and then fix the overlaps onto the
wind braces with the 10mm clout nails.
13b) Position Felt layer 3 as shown in the diagram below. This layer needs to overlap
layers 1 and 2 by 200mm. Felt layer 3 might require a horizontal cut, if your overlap is
too long. Fix Felt layer 3 to felt layers 1 and 2 and then fix the overlaps onto the wind
braces. Use 10mm clout nail for all fixings.

STEP 14: FASCIA BOARD AND DIAMOND FINIAL

14a) Position the fascia boards to the correct position as shown in the
diagram below. Fascia boards should be approx. 10mm above the roof felt.
Fix each fascia board to the wind brace by using 4x 35mm screws.
14b) Position the diamond finials to the correct position as shown in the
diagram below. Fix each diamond final onto the wind brace by using 2x
35mm screws.

14a) Position the front and rear trims over the joints ensuring the distance
between the joint and edge of the trim are the same.
14b) Use 4x 35mm screws to secure ST-PT3535310 to the front of the panel
and 8x 35mm screws to secure ST-PT35351595 to the rear of the panel.
