Pete’s Place Audio
Introduces the Electrodyne 2511 Dual Mono 2 Band Equalizer
Electrodyne 2511 two-band inductor EQ:
The Electrodyne 2511 is a classic two-band discrete transistor reciprocal active inductor equalizer,
which was first introduced in 1970. Smooth performance and eq response from full-cut to full-boost on
all frequencies, providing unusually broad sonic and tonal options not experienced in a console quality
eq in decades. The sonically critical custom inductors and output transformers are still made by
Electrodyne’s original US parts manufacturer to strict tolerances as small as 2%. This allows consistent
eq response and repeatable tone from channel-to-channel, with variations of less than 1/4db over full
bandwidth. A nearly impossible feat when these eq's were first built.
You will have the peace of mind knowing that the 2511 eq is N T a recreation and N T a clone.
Electrodyne Audio is still the same company that produced groundbreaking audio consoles and
recording equipment in the 1960's and 1970's. We are 100% back in operation and here to stay. We
build with the same quality and attention to detail that developed our reputation, and continue to
manufacture, right here, in California.
All current designs are built following actual original Electrodyne proprietary factory lab and engineering
notes. And we have even gone to the trouble to have the designs reviewed and approved by original
Electrodyne engineering staff for accuracy and adherence to company design criteria.
The Electrodyne Audio engineering staff is always striving to improve performance and design new and
unique products for the industry. Thank you for your purchase. Your comments are always appreciated.

TECHNICAL DATA
Input: Active balanced discrete transistor impedance converter.
utput: Custom wound large format multifilar transformer
utput impedance: 600 ohms
+/-12 db gain range: Equalize or Attenuate
4 frequencies selectable per band. LF: 40, 100, 250, 500hz. HF: 1.5k, 3k, 5k, 10k.
Peak/Shelf sw each band: Shelving at all frequencies, Peaking: 250, 500 (LF), 1.5k, 3k and 5k (HF).
Distortion: 0.03%typical.
The Peaking and Shelving filters on the Electrodyne 511 and dual channel rackmount 2511 eq are
active inductor/capacitor (L/C), reciprocal, fixed-Q type. We made Q calculations based on the actual
Audio Precision sweeps of our production reference units and the results are as follows:
Peaking:
HF peaking Q = .35
LF peaking Q = .7
Q values are averaged across all peaking frequencies for each band.
Shelving:
HF slope approx. 3dB/ oct
LF slope approx. 4dB/ oct
HF characteristics: Flat shelf to over 200 khz at all frequencies (see frequency graphs –
Appendices A-D).
LF Characteristics: Shelf rolls back 3dB at 9hz, at all frequencies to avoid sub-sonic overload
issues with downstream recording equipment (see frequency graphs – Appendices A-D).
Maximum output: +30dbu at less than 0.8%thd, +29.5dbu at 0.06%thd. (measured with +/-16v power
rails).
Frequency response: +/- 0.25db, <10hz to >70khz typical (no filters engaged).
Signal to noise: -85db typ.
In line with our company policy of continuous development, the above specifications are subject to change without notice.
