11.GROUNDING ORPOLARIZATION
This unit isequipped with apolarized altemating-current lineplug (plug havingone blade wider
than the other).This plug willfit into thepower outlet only one way.This is asafety feature. Ifyou are
unable to insertthe plug fullyinto the outlet,try reversing theplug. If the plug should stillfail to fit,
contact your electricianto replace yourobsolete outlet, Insteadof the polarizedalternating-current
line plug, yourunit may beequipped with a3-wire grounding-type plug(a plug having a third
grounding) pin). Thisplug will onlyfit into agrounding-type power outlet. This too, isa safety
feature. If youare unable toinsert the pluginto the outlet,contact your electrician to replace your
obsolete outlet. Donot defeat thesafety purpose ofthe grounding-type plug.
12. POWER-CORD PROTECTION
Power-supply cords shouldbe routed sothat they arenot likely to be walked onor pinched byitems
placed upon oragainst them, payingparticular attention tocords at plugs,convenience receptacles,
and the pointwhere they exitfrom the appliance.
13. LIGHTNING
To protectyour unit froma lightning storm,or when it is left unattendedand unused forlong periods
of time, unplugit from thewall outlet anddisconnect the antennaor cable system. This will prevent
damage to theunit due tolightning and powerling surges.
14. POWER LINES
An outside antennasystem should notbe located inthe vicinity ofoverhead power lines or other
electric light orpower circuits, orwhere it canfall onto oragainst such power lies or circuits.When
installing an outsideantenna system, extremecare should betaken to keepfrom touching such
power lines orcircuits, as contactwith them mightbe fatal.
15. OVERLOADING
Do not overloadwall outlets andextension cords, asthis can resultin a risk of fire orelectric shock.
16. OBJECTAND LIQUID ENTRY
Do not pushobjects through anyopenings in thisunit, as theymay touch dangerous voltage points
or short outparts that couldresult in fireor electric shock.Never spill or spray any typeof liquid into
the unit.
17.OUTDOOR ANTENNAGROUNDING
If an outsideantenna or cablesystem is connectedto the unit,be sure the antenna or cablesystem
is grounded toprovide some protectionagainst voltage surgesand built-up static charges, Section
8 10 ofthe National ElectricalCode (NEC),ANSI/NFPA70, provides informationwith respect to
proper grounding ofthe mast andsupporting structure, grounding of the lead-inwire to an antenna
discharge unit, sizeof grounding conductors,location of antennadischarge unit, connectionto
grounding electrodes, andrequirements for thegrounding electrode. See figure below.
18. SERVICING
Do not attemptto service thisunit yourself as opening or removing coversmay expose youto
dangerous voltage or otherhazards. Refer all servicing to qualified servicepersonnel.
19. DAMAGE REQUIRING SERVICE
Unplug this unitfrom the walloutlet and referservicing to qualifiedservice personnel under the
following conditions:
a. When thepower-supply cord orplug is damaged.
b. If liquidhas been spilled,or objects have fallen into theunit.

20. REPLACEMENT PARTS
When replacement partsare required, besure the servicetechnician uses replacementparts
specified by themanufacturer or thosethat have thesame characteristics asthe original part.

21. SAFETY CHECK

22. HEAT

24. CONNECTING

25.SOUND VOLUME

27.HEADPHONES
When you usethe headphones, deepthe volume ata moderate level.lf you use the headphones

28.LASER BEAM
Do not lookinto the openingof the discslot or ventilationopening of the product to seethe source
of the laserbeam. It maycause sight damage.
29. DISC
Do not usea cracked, deformed,or repaired disc.These discs areeasily broken andmay cause
serious personal injuryand product malfunction.

1.Turn On theTV and Your DVD Player
Press the Poweror STANDBYbutton on theplayer or theremote controller, and Read appears
on the TVscreen. If therehasn't a disc in the DVDplayer.
2.Place ADisc
Press the Open/ Close buttonon the remotecontroller or thefront of theDVD player,and
Open appears onthe screen. ThenPlace a disc gently into thetray with thedisc's label
facing up (double-sideddiscs have contenton both sides,so you canplace either sideup),
and press theOpen / Closebutton again toclose the disctray, Close appears and the player
starts to read.Then the discstarts playing automatically. (Note: Of some certain type discs,
after readingout the type,the Play or Enter button shouldbe pressedto start playing.)
3. Play
The contents ofeach disc menuvary according tohow the discwas authored and what
features are included.The disc menuwill be turnedon for you to select, whenMenu button
pressed. Alsoplay and pause can be switchedwith the Pausebutton on the remote. Moreover,
such as menuplay, titleplay, sequenceplay etc., Thesedifferent play modesare offered.
a) Menu Play(compatible with DVD,SVCD, VCD2.0 discs)
I. Press MenuButton
TV screen displays the DVDRoot Menu whena DVD discis loaded.
II. When aDVD disc isloaded, you canpress Arrow buttons to highlightthe menu itemyou
want to choose.
III. Press Enteror Play button,you can beginplay with thehighlighted.
IV.Return when playing:When a DVDdisc is playing,press Menu (PBC) button, and you
can return toRoot Menu.
V.Stop
1) When youpress Stop buttonfor the firsttime, the player turns into quasistop state.
Tobegin the titleover, press Stop twice.
2) In quasistop state, theplayer remembers whereyou stopped, whenyou start playing the
disc again, theDVD player pickedup where youleft off.
3) In stopstate, when youpress Play,the player enterssequence playback mode.
For the discprotection, before youpress Open /Close button toeject the disc tray when
playing, please pressStop button atfirst. Aftertaking out thedisc, press Open / Close
again to closethe tray.
If you're notgoing to usethe DVD playerfor a longtime, be sure to remove theelectr-
onic plug.
b) Title Play (compatible withDVD discs only)
I. During DVDplayback, press Title button todisplay the DVD title content.
II. Press theArrow buttonsto highlight thetitle you wantto choose, and press Enter;Also
you can pressnumeric buttons tochoose.
III. The DVDplayer begins withthe chapter 1of the chosen title.
Chapter 1 Basic Operation

Program Menu:
SVCD, VCD, CD,CD+G, HD-CD, DTS-CDdiscs:
If PBC ison, this operationwill turn PBCoff while thechapters / tracks plays in prog-
rammed order.
According to thehighlight, use the Numeric buttons toenter the chapters / tracks inthe
order you wantthem to play. Then pressPlay or use Arrow buttonsto highlight the PLAY
item and pressEnter. Thechapters / trackswill play inthe programmed order.
Youcan program maximum 20 titles /chapters / tracks.
According to theDirection Indicator on the menu, youcan press Arrow buttons tohigh-
light where youwant to enter.
During Program Playback,if Program button pressed, the programmedorder and the
contents will bedisplayed on the screen, and theProgram Playback willbe stopped;
Also youcan press Stop and Play toresume normal playback.
b) Sequence Play(compatible with DVD, SVCD,VCD, CD+G, DTS-CD,HD-CD, WMA,
MP3/JPEG discs)
I. When aSVCD or VCDdisc is loadedand PBC ison, once PBCbutton pressed, PBC switches
off. Then theplayer can play insequence playback mode; whenPBC button pressed twice,
PBC switches on.
III. Except forSVCD or VCDdiscs, in thestop state, when pressPlay button, the playerthen
enters sequence playback mode.This feature iseffective to allthe compatible discs.
d) Program Play(compatible with DVD, SVCD,VCD, CD, CD+G,DTS-CD, HD-CD, WMA,
MP3/JPEG discs)
The Program Playback optionallows you toenter the orderin which youwant chapters ortracks
to play,maxi-mum to 20.
DVD, WMA, MP3/JPEGdiscs:
Notes:
Toclear the programmedorder, useArrow buttonsto highlight the CLEAR ALL item, then
press Enter.
Tomodify the programmedorder, useArrow buttonsto highlight themodifying item and
enter the newchapter / track you want toprogram directly.

a) When playing a DVD disc, press Numeric buttons on the menu or title page to select tracks;
During DVD playback, you can input desired title number directly.
b) As a SVCD or VCD disc, during sequence playback, press Numeric buttons to select tracks.
(During Program Playback and PBC is on, you can only press Prev / Next button to select)
c) As for CD, CD+G, HD-CD, DTS-CD discs, press Numeric buttons directly to select tracks.
d) when playing WMA, MP3 / JPEG discs, press numeric buttons to select different tracks on
current track list.
Notes: Toselect tracks from 1 to 10, press corresponding Numeric buttons (1-9, 10)
To select tracks above 10, press 10+ button. For example, to select the track 15, press
10+ and 5 button. If the selected track is not available, the input would be invalid.
a) To skip forward to the beginning of the next title / chapter / track on a disc, press Next on
the remote or the front of the player.
b) To skip backward to the beginning of the preceding title / chapter / track on a disc, press
Prev on the remote or the front of the player.
When playing the last chapter / track on a SVCD or VCD disc with PBC off, pressing Next
button will stop the playback; When playing the first chapter / track., pressing Prev button
will stop the playback; When stop, pressing Next / Prev button will be invalid.
If a DVD disc is loaded, it varies according to how the disc was configed.
Chapter 2 Additional Operation
1. Selecting Tracks (compatible with DVD, SVCD, VCD, CD, CD+G, DTS-CD, HD-CD,
WMA, MP3 /JPEG discs)
2. Skipping Tracks (compatible with DVD, SVCD, VCD, CD, CD+G, DTS-CD, HD-CD,
MP3/JPEG discs)
3. Multispeed Fast Motion Playback (compatible with DVD, SVCD, VCD, CD, DTS-CD,
MP3 discs)
You can search in forward or reverse mode during playback.
a) Press the F.F button on the remote during playback to search through a disc. Press the
button again on the remote to search at the next speed. Fast Forward Playback has four
speeds: 2, 4, 8, 16, 32. With each consecutive press of the button, the search
speed increases. If you press the button six times, Fast Forward Playback cycles back
to normal playback. During DVD playback, when Fast Forward Playback gets to the
beginning of the next title / chapter, it resumes normal playback; During SVCD or VCD
playback with PBC on, when Fast Forward Playback gets to the beginning of the next
track, it resumes normal playback.
Press Play button to resume normal playback.
b) Press the F.R button on the remote during playback to search through a disc. Press the button
again on the remote to search at the next speed. Fast Reverse Playback has four speeds: 2,
4, 8, 16, 32 . With each consecutive press of the button, the search speed increases. If
you press the button six times, Fast Reverse Playback cycles back to normal playback.
During DVD playback, when Fast Reverse Playback gets to the beginning of the playing title
/ chapter, it resumes normal playback; During SVCD or VCD playback with PBC on, when
Fast Reverse Playback gets to the beginning of the playing track, it resumes normal playback.
Press Play button to resume normal playback.

4. Multispeed Slow Motion Playback (compatible with DVD, SVCD, VCD, CD, CD+G,
DTS-CD, HD-CD discs)
Press Slow button when pictures moving, you can enter Slow Motion Playback mode.
Press the Slow button on the remote during playback. Press the button again on the remote to
play at the next speed. Slow Motion Playback has five speeds: 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2. With
each consecutive press of the button, the play speed decreases. If you press the button six
times, Slow Motion Playback cycles back to normal playback.Press Play button to resume
normal playback
5. Freeze Frame and Frame Advance (compatible with DVD, SVCD, VCD, CD, CD+G,
DTS-CD, HD-CD, WMA, MP3 discs).
a) During CD, CD+G, HD-CD, DTS-CD, WMA or MP3 / JPEG playback, press Pause once to
freeze playback; Press the Pause button again or Play button to resume normal playback.
b) During DVD, SVCD or VCD playback, press Pause once to freeze playback; Press of the
Pause button again to advance the picture one frame at a time or press Play to resume normal
playback.
6. Using the Repeat Feature (compatible with DVD, SVCD, VCD, CD, CD+G, DTS-CD,
HD-CD, WMA, MP3 discs)
While a disc is playing, press Repeat button once, and the repeat banner appears to show current
repeat mode. User can also press arrow button to choose the mode and press ENTER to confirm.
A) In SVCD, VCD, CD, CD+G, HD-CD, DTS-CD sequence playback mode, press Repeat button
again to turn on repeat mode. Press the button again on the remote to turn to the next repeat
mode. There are four repeat options: Repeat Off, Repeat Disc and Repeat Track..
With each consecutive press of the button, the repeat mode switches. If you press the
button four times, repeat mode cycles back to Off.
b) In DVD playback, press Repeat button again to turn on repeat mode. There are three repeat
options: Repeat Off, Repeat Chapter, and Repeat Title . With each consecutive press of the button,
the repeat mode switches. If you press the button four times, repeat mode cycles back to Off.
c) In WMA, MP3 playback, press Repeat button again to turn on repeat mode. There are
four repeat options: Off, All, Dir and File. With each consecutive press of the button, the
repeat mode switches. If you press the button five times, repeat mode cycles back to Off.
7. Using the Display Feature (compatible with DVD, SVCD, VCD, CD, CD+G, DTS-CD,
WMA, MP3 discs)
a) Loading and playing DVDs (two pages)
Press OSD button once to show the first page:
Disc Type,Title * / * (the playing title / total titles),Chapter * / * (the playing chapter / total
chapters),Elapsed Time of the Disc, Repeat Mode.
Press the button again to show the second page:
Language * / * (the serial number of playing language / the amount of optional languages)
or Off,Language Type, Audio Type,Subtitle * / * (the serial number of playing subtitle / the
amount of optional subtitles) or Off,Angle * / * (the serial number of playing angle / the am-
ount of optional angles) or Off, Play Mode.
Press the button for the third time, the display menu fades out.
b) Loading and playing SVCD discs (two pages)

8. Using theSearch Feature (compatible with DVD, SVCD, VCD, CD,DTS-CD,
HD-CD discs)
Youcan use Searchfeature to selecta title /chapter / track number or goto a specificpoint in
a title. Firstly, press Search(Goto) button onthe remote controllerto bring upthe search menu
and enter theedit state; Secondly, press Arrow buttons tohighlight the title / chapter /track
number or thetime option; Thirdly, use Numericbuttons to enterthe title /chapter / trackyou
want to playor the elapsedtime you wantto go toin that title; At last,press Enter buttonto
start playback. Forexample, entering 01:23:56will start playback one hour,twenty-three
minutes and fifty-sixseconds into thetitle. If theinput number isillegal, the error information
INVALIDKEY willbe displayed onthe screen.
Notes
I. This featuredoes not workin Program Play mode.
II. If PBCis on, itwill turn offautomatically when Search Playback starts.
III. When playingWMA, MP3 /JPEG discs, Search Feature does notwork.

9. Changing theSoundtrack (compatible with SVCD, VCD, CD,CD+G, HD-CD discs)
Press the L/ R button to display currentsoundtrack.
a) Press thebutton can switchsoundtracks.
b) Press thebutton again onthe remote toturn to nextsoundtrack.
I. When playinga SVCD orVCD disc, thereare three soundtracks:Stereo, Left, Right.
With eachconsecutive press of the button, thesoundtrack switches. If you press thebutton
four times, soundtrackcycles back toStereo.
II. When playinga CD, CD+G,DTS-CD, HD-CD orMP3 disc, there are three: Stereo,
Left, Right.
Notes:
Switch to L/LAuto A/DDetect or R/RAuto A/DDetect to havevarious antistrophes (you
can have anantistrophe with thesinging on thedisc), according tothe contents on the
disc).
When playing adual-language VCD moviedisc, press theL / R button toselect the
desired language.

12. Changing the Camera Angle (compatible with DVD discs)
During disc playback, press Angle on the remote once, and the angel icon appears.Some
DVDs contain multipleangles of a particular scene or sequence, so you can use the Angle
feature to view.Press the Angle button again to go to the next camera angle. If multiple
camera angles are available, the Angle icon displays the current angle numberand the
number of angles available. For example: Angle Icon: [* / *] or [Off] ; 1 / 4 indicates that
angle one is beingdisplayed, and there are four different angles available. (This feature is
disc-dependent. If no additional camera angles are available, the Invalid Key will be
displayed.)
13 . Mute the Audio Output (compatible with DVD, SVCD, VCD, CD, CD+G, DTS-CD,
HD-CD, WMA, MP3 discs)
Pressing the Mute button allows you to reduce sound to an inaudible level, and MUTE will be
displayed on screen. Press the button again or press the Vol +/- button to return to the normal
condition.
Notes:
When mute, the microphone also has no audio output.
If the player playback disc without sound, please try to press Mute button to resume.
11. Subtitles (compatible with DVD, SVCD discs)
Press the Subtitle button on the remote once, and the subtitle info banner appears. When a
DVDor SVCD is recorded with subtitles, you can use the Subtitle feature to view the sub-
titles onscreen. By default, subtitles are off. The info banner will display Subtitle Off. To
display subtitles, press the Subtitle button again. The default language with its correspond-
ing serial number will be displayed in the info banner and subtitles will be displayed in that
language. With each consecutive press of the Subtitle button, the
subtitle switches. For example, Language Icon:
[1 English DTS 6CH] or [Off] (the availability of the subtitles are disc-dependent). To turn
subtitles off, press the Subtitle button until Subtitle Off is displayed.
Notes: SUBTITLE Language option are practicality-dependent.

10. Changing theAudio Language (compatible with DVD, SVCDdiscs)
During disc playback,press Language onthe remote once,and the audiolanguage info banner
appears. When aDVD or SVCDis recorded whitmultiple soundtracks, you can use theLang-
uage feature totemporarily change theaudio language (thelanguage of thesoundtrack) With
each consecutive pressof the Languagebutton, the audiolanguage switches andthe
corresponding serial numberappears on thescreen. For example, Language Icon:

When playing aSVCD, VCD, orCD disc, you can repeat aspecific segment only in one
track. When thenext track begins,A-B Repeatturns off automatically.
When playing aDVD disc, youcan repeat aspecific segment onlyin one title/ chapter.
15. Repeat aSpecific Segment onthe Disc that You Define (compatiblewith DVD, SVCD,
VCD, CD, CD+G,DTS-CD, HD-CD, WMA,MP3 discs)
a) During thenormal or fastmotion playback, pressthe A-Bbutton once, and REPEATA-
will appears onthe screen. Thisindicates the startof the loopto be repeated.
b) During thenormal of fastmotion playback, pressA-B again,and REPEAT A-B will
appears on thescreen. It indicates the end ofthe loop.
Looping will runfrom set point Ato set point B until youturn off Repeat.
C) PressA-B again to cancel A-Bloop mode.
16. Volume control (compatiblewith DVD, SVCD,VCD, CD, CD+G,DTS-CD, HD-CD,
WMA, MP3 discs)
Youcan press the Volumebutton on thefront of TVset or theamplifier to controlthe
sound level.
Pressing the Vol+ button onthe remote allowyou to amplifythe sound level;Pressing
Vol- will reducethe sound level.
Notes:
During DVD PCMoutput playback, thisfeature does notwork.
14. Zoom In the Video Image (compatible with DVD, SVCD, VCD, JPEG discs)
a) The Zoom Function allows you to enlarge or zoom out the video image and to pan though the
image. Press Zoom repeatedly to activate the function and choose the required zoom factor:
Zoom 2, Zoom 3, Zoom 4, Zoom 1/2, Zoom 1/3, Zoom 1/4.
Notes:
This feature does not work when the Disc Menu appears.
b) Use the Arrow buttons to pan across the screen when the zoom factor is 2, 3 or 4.

Chapter 3 Playing WMA, MP3 and JPEG discs
Place a MP3/ JPEG discinto the tray, and theplayer will autosearch the directories saved
MP3 / JPEGfiles. Aftersearching, it willauto go tothe first directory saved MP3 files(to
the disc containingboth MP3 andJPEG files; To the disc containing single typeof files, it
will auto goto the firstdirectory) and playthe first songin the directory ( 01: ishighlighted).
The screen displaysas the picturebelow:
The playing file
is a JPEG picture.
Current directory name
Current MP3/JPEG file name.
If a JPEG fileplaying, the
name should be *.jpg.
The playing file
is a MP3 music.
Use theArrow buttons to enter the DirectoryRegion and highlightthe desired directory, then
the first trackunder it startsplayback; Alsoyou can usethe Arrowbuttons to enterthe File
Region and selectthe file youwant to play.
Notes:
I. Press theLeft and Rightarrow buttons, you can activate DirectoryRegion, File Region
and File SwitchRegion separately.
II. The highlightin Directory Regionand File Region is shown asthe picture above;While
it appears atransparent rectangle in File Switch Region.
III. In FileSwitch Region, youcan press the Left and Rightarrow buttons toswitch the hig-
hlight, then pressEnter; the M , P , and G button is illustrated in the abovepicture.
For example, ifa disc withMP3 and JPEG files but withoutany NES filesis loaded, the
color of theletter M and P will appear to white and G black.If a MP3file playing,
M turns darker.
IV.Tothe disc withWMA, MP3 andJPEG files, whenplaying a JPEG picture, press the
Return button toreturn to JPEGlist.

V. Youcan press theNumeric buttons to select the fileyou want toplay. For example, if you

desire the 15 track in currentlist, press the 10+ button once, then press 5, the 15 starts
playback.
Notes: When playinga disc with MP3 files, videocannot be output while only digitalaudio
can.
When playing JPEGpictures, the screen will display thefollowing picture. Press the Left and
Right arrow buttonsto highlight theicon of the desired page, thenpress ENTER button.
When you selectALBUM, the screen displays small pictures. Up to6 small picturesare
displayed per screen.Toview the next 6 pictures, press the Next buttonto go forward
and the Prevbutton to goto the previous page. You can also select and playa picture
in full screenby press thatnumber on the remote.
When you select ROTATEicon, press ENTER button to changethe display angle.With each
consecutive press ofthe button, theangle is changed.

1. General Stepsof Setup Menu
a) Press theSetup button, themain setup menuappears.
When the mainmenu displayed, theDVD system willauto pause.
b) Press theLeft and Rightarrow buttons tohighlight the iconof the desiredpage, then press
the Down orRight arrow button to activate thatpage; For example,if you wantto setup the
video page, pressRight to highlight the video icon,the video page will be displayedon the
screen.
c ) Pressthe Down arrowbutton to highlightthe desired option.Press Enter orpress Right to
select, the choicesof that option appear on theright; For example,press the Downarrow
button to highlightthe BRIGHTNESS option, then press Enterto select, thebrightness
choices appear onthe right.
d) Press theArrow buttonsto highlight theExit Setup option, then press Enteror Setup again
to exit SetupMenu.
